AUDIO ENHANCEMENT DEVICE CONFIGURATION MOBILE APPLICATION GUIDE

Audio Enhancement’s Device Configuration Mobile Application allows a user to wirelessly connect to and configure the MS-700 and Info View Display devices. It will connect via Bluetooth using your smart device and a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) USB that is shipped with every device.

This guide provides extensive detail about the application and options for configuration, but the app is simple and easy to use.

HARDWARE CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION

1. Download and open the app.
2. Scan and connect to the device you want to configure.
3. Configure the device.

SCAN FOR DEVICE

When the user first launches the application, it will direct them\ to a list of nearby devices where it will show an item for each\ device within the range of the device’s Bluetooth. When the device appears, there will be 4 areas to help you locate the\ correct devices. (Figure 1)

1. The first item the user will see on the device is a\ Signal Bar. The devices are sorted by strongest\ signal. The signal strength bar is based on the distance the user is from the device, generally when the user is in the room with the device the signal strength will be at full capacity
2. The second item is the Device Name, these will appear with a random name starting with “BRX-“. The user will have the ability to change this name once in the device for future ease of use.
3. The third item is the Device Type which identifies the type of device.
4. The fourth Item is the Identify button, this will appear on the right-hand side and will show a magnifying glass over a rectangular box. The purpose of this is to assist on the location of the device you are trying to find. To activate Identification mode the user will simply select the icon.

REMINDER
If the user is setting up an Info View Player, it must be plugged into the HDMI port of a display for the adapter to fully boot.

IDENTIFY A DEVICE

The Identify feature helps users be sure they are connected to the right device for configuration. The identification behavior is different for each device type. There is a quick identify button in the device list for ease, but each device will also identify itself\ as soon as a user establishes a connection.

For the MS-700, once the user has selected the Identify button, they will see the LEDs on the amp change to red, yellow, and green followed by an audible tone through the speakers.

REMINDER
If the user does not see or hear this, they may be connecting to the incorrect device.

For the Info View Player, once the user selects the Identify button, they will see a prompt on the screen reading “You’re connected to this display.”

TROUBLESHOOTING DEVICE IDENTIFICATION

Once the device has been setup and connected to EPIC (Education Paging & Intercom Communications)\ System®, by default the BLE Adapter becomes disabled for security and will be unusable until\ reactivated. There are two ways to reenable the BLE Adapter if desired.

1. The preferred method to reenable the BLE Adapter is through EPIC. The user will go to Settings>Devices and select the device they would like to edit from the Known Devices list. Once in the configuration menu the user will select Advanced and scroll down until they locate BLE Interface Enabled. Switch this to On and hit Save.
   a. If the user would like to turn BLE on for every device, they will go to Settings> Devices> Configure> MS-700, once here select advanced and find the BLE Toggle\ and switch it to on and select Save and push Settings.

2. The second way to turn this on is by performing a factory reset on the device. (This will\ revert all device settings back to default and clear any network settings)
   a. To factory default a MS-700 the user will look at its front panel and locate the reset button next to the USB, hold the button in for 15 seconds. The amplifier will reboot and be ready to be discovered again.
   
   b. To factory default a Info View Player the user will need a paper clip or small screwdriver.
   The user will look at the front of the device and locate the headphone jack, the reset button is in the back of the headphone jack. Place your small screwdriver in the hole, the user should be able to feel the button engage, press and hold the button for 15 seconds. The device is now reset and ready to be discovered again.
   

CONNECTED TO AN MS-700

Once the user has connected to their desired amplifier, they will land on the Volume Page. This is where the user can adjust all input, output, and EQ volumes.

After the user connects to desired amplifier it will direct you straight to the Input tab, the user will have the ability to change seven inputs. Each input will have a range from -79 db to 6 db. It will have a mute option on the right-hand side of the input name. The inputs should appear as such:

1. Classroom Microphone
2. Remote Port 1
3. Remote Port 2
4. Remote Port 3
5. Line input 5
6. Line Input 6
7. Intercom/Paging/Bells
   

If the user navigates to the Output tab in the center of the page, they will have the ability to change five outputs. Each output will have a range from -79 db to 6 db and have the same mute toggle to the right like the inputs tab. The outputs should appear as such:

1. Speaker Output
2. Remote Port 1
3. Remote Port 2
4. Remote Port 3
5. ALD Output
   

The final tab on the Volume page is for all EQ settings, at the top of the page the user will see a toggle to Bypass Equalizer, by checking this it will disable all EQ settings. Under the bypass the user will locate each EQ slider. Each slider has a range from -10db to 10db. Unlike the other fields we do not have the option to mute each individual slider. The EQ adjustments should appear as such:

1. Band 1
2. Band 2
3. Band 3
4. Band 4
5. Band 5
   

If the user navigates to the bottom of the page once connected to a device, they will see a Network tab by clicking on this it will navigate the user to the network tab which will allow them to setup all network configurations. There are seven fields that the user can edit, they should appear as such:

1. EPIC IP/URL (This is the IP of your EPIC server that the device will be connecting to.)
2. Network Mode (This will allow you to choose to set the device to a static IP or a DHCP.)
3. IP Address (This will be the IP address you would like to set the device at.)
4. Subnet Mask
5. Gateway
6. Primary DNS
7. Secondary DNS
   

If the user navigates back to the bottom of the page, they will see a Serial tab. Once connected to the page, the user will have the ability to change the baud rate and forwarding rules for six outputs they should appear as such:

1. Remote Port 1
2. Remote Port 2
3. Remote Port 3
4. XD
5. Serial
6. Network/EPIC

REMINDER
Each field will need to be entered with the correct information to allow the device to be able to connect to the EPIC server or even network. If the user does not add the information to a field, it will give a prompt to provide the proper information and not allow the user to save any changes.

The fourth and last tab located at the bottom of the page is the Settings tab. Once the user has selected Settings it will redirect the user to a page with six editable fields. They appear as such:

1. Select School
   a. This will allow you to add or select a school that the user would like to connect this device to. (This feature is still in progress)
   

2. Select Room
   a. This will allow you to add or select a room the user would like to connect this device to. Any room added will be added to the school that was previously selected.
   REMINDER
   Each output will have the name with two drops down menus under it. The first menu will be giving the user the ability to edit the baud rate. The second menu will be for the forwarding you can set to each output. (Only experts should be adjusting this page.)

3. Device Type
   a. This field will be pulled straight from the device and not be editable. If the user does not see the device type added, they will be able to choose the type from the drop down. Only two options will show for now, those will be MS-700 and Info View Player.

4. Device Name
   a. This will populate with what the BLE is named. The name can be changed to a friendly name for the user to recognize for future configuration. The user will have a max of 45 characters for the name.

5. MAC Address
   a. This will be pulled straight from the device and will not be editable. If this is not populated the user can find the MAC Address on the amp and enter it in. This will have a 17 Character limit.

6. Serial Name
   a. This will be where you add the serial number, the serial can be found on a sticker on the front of the amplifier.
   

The last Item the user will notice is the small Kebab menu in the top right corner, if the user selects the menu a list will appear with three fields, they should appear as such:

1. Identify
   a. This is a secondary way to identify the device you are connected to.
   This will send the same tone and led change as before.
   REMINDER
   At the bottom of the list there will be a Save Device button, this will be greyed out until each field is filled out. Once all settings are saved this button will change to say Update Device.

2. Reset Pass Code

3. The user will have the option to change the built in pass code to a unique code. Once this code is sent the user will be required to enter it each time before they can connect to the device.

4. Enable PoE Override

CONNECT TO AN INFOVIEW DISPLAY

Once the user has connected to desired display, they will land on the network tab and should read Connected to Display on the display connected to the Info View. The network page will show and function the exact same as the MS-700. (For any information please refer to the MS-700 section).

The only other tab the user will see is the settings tabs, this will show the same as the MS-700.
