ASSEMBLY

  1. Unpack your new heat press and its attachments. Find a place for use with a firm level surface able to easily bear the heat press’s weight. It should provide ample room to move around the heat press without any need to touch its heated surfaces. There should also be enough space nearby to easily use and store the press’s other attachments.
    Flat Platen Attachment

  2. Your heat press uses its flat platen by default. Simply confirm that the attachment’s cord between the control box and platen is well connected and then connect the device to a stable, compatible, and grounded power supply.

  3. To use any other attachment, unplug the press, disconnect the attachment’s cord, and loosen the bolts within the 6 compression springs. Place the flat platen in a safe location nearby.
    Plate Attachments
Install either of the ceramic plate attachments onto your press using the same bolts as the flat plate. Connect the attachment’s cord.

Hat Attachment

There are two parts to the hat attachment. The upper half installs onto your press using the same bolts as before. To install the lower half, unbolt the flat lower plate on your press, slide it off along its rails, and place it in a safe location nearby. Slide the curved hat base in its place and bolt it down. Connect the attachment’s cord to the upper part of the attachment.

Mug Attachments

Set the mug press on a firm level surface near your heat-press, fit the attachment that matches your desired mug size onto the mug press using its four bolts, and connect the attachment’s cord to the appropriate socket on the heat press.

OPERATION

  1. Prepare your design on suitable transfer(s).
When you first start using this device and before any big batch job, prepare a test transfer on a scrap of similar fabric to make sure that all of your settings are correct. The best settings will usually vary somewhat between different transfers, materials, and thicknesses.

  2. lace your design on its product(s). Heat-resistant tape can be used to fix your design exactly2. Place your design on its product(s). Heat-resistant tape can be used to fix your design exactly into position.

  3. Research your specific material and its ideal settings before use. Most fabrics can be pressed, but not all. Most ceramics can be pressed, but some sublimation plates and mugs are specially formatted for easy design transfer. Use very low pressure for glass or plates, only the bare minimum to apply full and even contact with the transfer.

  4. Remember that most transfers (but not all!) require the design to be applied in reverse. Make the necessary adjustments for the style of transfer that you’re using.

  5. Install the press attachment you wish to use as described above.
If you are pressing using the flat base, swing the top out of the way and prepare its heat-resistant mat.

  6. Fit your product onto the middle of the appropriate base. Smooth out any wrinkles in the area that will be pressed. If you use a protective cover sheet, smooth out any of its wrinkles as well.

  7. If you are pressing a cap or hat, remember to fold down its inner lining. Use the lever on the hat attachment to pull its material taut and leave a smooth work surface.

  8. If you are pressing a mug or cup, don’t insert it into the attachment yet, but test that it will be able to be inserted into the attachment without disturbing your transfer.

  9. Flip the power switch on. Press SET and set the temperature value. Press SET and set the timer value. Press SET and choose whether your temperature is in Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees. Press SET a fourth time to begin heating.

  10. Wait for the platen to heat.

  11. Being careful to avoid touching any heated surfaces with any exposed skin, swing the platen over your design and press it down using the handle. Press ⯆ to start the timer.

  12. If you are using the mug attachment, use your mug’s handle to fit it into the heated mug press now. Carefully close the attachment’s handle to press it shut.

  13. The control box should announce when your countdown has ended. Carefully release the press, turn it off, and swing the heated plate away. Unless you are using heat-resistant gloves, allow time for objects to cool before removing them and moving on to your next product.

TYPICAL SETTINGS FOR COMMON MATERIALS

ADDITIONAL TIPS

  • Remove transfer paper from finished items quickly to prevent it from cooling and sticking to your design, but continue to be careful of the press’s heated surfaces. Allow vinyl a little more time to set but still remove it before it cools. Firm fabrics also allow an easier earlier peel. Extremely stretchy fabrics might need your design to be entirely cool before the transfer paper can be safely removed.
  • Always use the exact settings for your transfer or material if one is provided. Experiment with your specific transfers and materials to find the best results, especially before large batches.
  • If you have the time or an especially important project, a short 5-second prepress of fabric items can help flatten, dry, preshrink, and prepare them before adding your transfer. Double or even triple the length of the prepress in especially humid environments.
  • When adding designs to clothing or objects that include uneven elements like buttons or zippers, a heat-resistant pillow can be used to help ensure a full and even press. However, if such parts are themselves heat sensitive, be sure to position them away from the platen or cover them with a layer of heat-resistant material.
  • Avoid washing newly printed items for at least 24 hours.

MAINTENANCE

  • Always completely disconnect this device from power and wait for it to cool before any cleaning, repair, or other maintenance.
  • Clean with a soft dry cloth. If a damp cloth is necessary, be sure not to get any electronic components wet. Do not use caustic chemicals or harsh abrasives.
  • Check this device periodically for any looseness, wear, or damage. Tighten, repair, or replace any problematic parts before further use. Only allow trained technicians to do any testing or repairs to internal components.
  • Store in a cool dry location inaccessible to children and away from direct sunlight. For best results, disconnect from power after each use. Always disconnect completely from power if it will not be used for an extended period of time.
