Crystal Growing Process

1. Pour the contents of the crystal powder bag into the growing cup.
   

2. Pour the 160ml, hot or boiling water(100°C) into the growing cup.
   

3. Stir with a stirring rod until the powder has completely dissolved in the growing cup to make a solution.
   

4. Cool the solution down for 15 minutes to 40°C(104°F),
   
   Note: Not too cool, not too hot, that is ideally around 40°C(104°F).

5. Make Crystal Starter: Poss. the crystal seed stick through the wooden stick and then insert the fixed cap into the end of the crystal seed stick.
   

6. Put the crystal starter onto the growing cup and wait for 24 hours.

Note: DO NOT STIR OR SHAKE THE SOLUTION DURING THE GROWING PROCESS. The crystal needs o temperature above 20° C(68°F) to grow properly. Carefully put the growing cup in a worm room or on top of your refrigerator

7. Take the crystal out from the growing cup and place it on a piece of kitchen towel, dry it out for 24 hours.

8. Stick a grass sticker on the flowerpot display cover. Also, stick a bow sticker on the flowerpot display.

9. Now you con remove the wooden stick as well as the fixed cap from the crystal Carefully Insert your crystal into the flowerpot display. Congrats! You’ve made your own spiriting crystal

WHAT A SURPRISE!

1. You’ve now successfully planted your first crystal. But wait, there are more! If you keep the solution in the growing cup and wait another 5-7 days, more magic will happen.
   NOTE: DO NOT STIR THE SOLUTION. During the following 5-7 days, some small crystal flakes may start to grow around the inner wall of the growing cup. This effect is called ‘crystal climbing’. To prevent these small crystal flakes from eventually growing out of the growing cup and staining the table top, gently remove the small crystals without disturbing the solution. This will stop the further growth of crystal flakes.

2. Tick-tock tick-tock. How time flies!

3. Pour away the solution and now you get one piece or mare crystals. Once the solution is poured away, you cannot use it again. DO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CRYSTAL HAS GROWN BEFORE YOU POUR AWAY THE SOLUTION. You can shine a torch into the solution to see whether the crystal has grown or not.

WHAT IS CRYSTAL CLIMBING?

Crystal climbing refers to the phenomenon of small crystal flakes growing around the inner wall of the growing cup during the crystal growing process. The crystal flakes are formed because liquid moves up through the tiny gaps between the crystals themselves and between the crystals and the growing cup (this movement is called capillary action), and then as the water evaporates, it allows crystal flakes to grow. If this happens, refer to the resolving instructions in WHAT A SURPRISE STEP (1).

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you pour the powder into hot water, it breaks up into tiny particles in the solution. These particles are far too small to see. The liquid is then called a solution of the powder. In fact, it’s well known as saturated solution that if you stir in more powder, no more powder will dissolve.
Slowly, the water cools down, and some water evaporates. Now the water can’t keep all the particles dissolved, and some begin joining together again. More particles join them, and over time, groups of particles come together. The particles join up in an organized way, making the crystals that you see, with straight edges and flat faces.

2. Because children’s abilities vary so much, even within age groups, supervising adults should exercise discretion as to which activities are suitable for which child.
3. The supervising adult should discuss the warnings and safety information with the child or children before commencing.

• Do not eat, drink or smoke in the experimental area,
• Do not use equipment that has not been supplied with this kit unless advised.
• Keep the surrounding area clear of obstructions, well lit, and ventilated. Work near a sink or other water supply.
• Wear suitable clothing, gloves and eye/face protection when handling the color crystal seeds or removing the crystals from the container.
• Clean all the equipment after use.
• Wash hands and surrounding area after experiment and after handling chemicals or crystals.
• Make sure that all containers are fully closed and properly stored after use.
• Do not use any containers that have been used in the experiment for foodstuffs.
• Store this set in a safe place, out of reach of small children. when not in use.
• Place crystals completely on a plate or non-porous material. as the color in the crystals will remain soluble and may stain surfaces.
• Dispose of materials according to your country’s health and safety, and environmental regulations.
