WARNING! PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ASSEMBLY AND USE When assembling the model, don’t rush, and avoid pointing details at your or anyone else’s face. If one of the parts has a sharp edge, please file it down. Use pliers and additional tools to semble the model. Each kit contains a cloth for wiping and polishing the model once it’s assembled. If needed, you may choose to apply a small amount of silicon-based grease to the spring and the mechanism; however, this is not a requirement for the mechanism to function properly. The mech- anism will perform at its best in the absence of excessive friction or exces- sive play of its parts

In 1901, William S. Harley drew up plans for a small engine with a displacement of 7.07 cubic inches (116 cc) and four-inch (102 mm) flywheels designed for use in a regular pedal-bi-cycle frame. Over the next two years, he and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson worked on their motor bicycle using the northside Milwaukee machine shop at the home of their friend Henry Melk. It was finished in 1903 with the help of Arthur’sbrother Walter Davidson.
