Warning
- IMPORTANT: During operation, the temperature of the u60-B and various components may increase. Please exercise caution while using to avoid severe burns or injuries.
- Do not touch LEDs or front face after immediate use to avoid potential injury.
- Use only with the Westcott u60-B AC Power Supply & Cord or 14.4/14.8V D-tap batteries for DC power.
- Never leave unattended around children and/or pets.
- Always confirm proper installation, locking, and unlocking when mounting or removing from a light stand, booms, or other mounting devices.
- Keep away from fire, water, and moisture.
- Do not submerge in water.
- Avoid drastic temperature changes before, during, or after use.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify any Westcott products. Contact Westcott for assistance.
- The operating temperature range is 32~95°F (0~35°C).
Getting Started
Setting Up the u60-B
- Loosen the knob closest to the base of the u60-B tilter bracket.
- Place the u60-B on your preferred light stand or mounting arm, and tighten the same knob to secure it.
- Loosen the larger knob and adjust the u60-B’s angle to the preferred position. Tighten the knob to secure.
- Assemble the power cords and AC power supply.
- Insert the barrel plug into the power receptacle located on the lower rear portion of the light.
- Turn the locking nut clockwise to secure to the u60-B. If the locking nut is difficult to turn, the cable’s barrel may not be fully inserted into the u60-B. Gently press the nut towards the u60-B to secure.
- Plug the AC power cord into a wall outlet.
Powering On & Off
Long press the power button ( ) to turn the u60-B on or off.
Adjusting Light Intensity and Color (CCT) on the Light
- Power the u60-B on.
- Quick press the center of the DIM·CCT control dial to toggle between Intensity and Color adjustment modes.
- Once the desired mode is selected, it will begin to blink on the display.
- Turn the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the intensity [1-100%] or CCT [3200K-5600K]
Using the Remote Control

Insert the remote batteries.

Press the remote control’s on button.

Adjusting Intensity
• Press and hold the top button ( ) to increase the intensity.
• Press and hold the bottom button ( ) to decrease the intensity. -
Adjusting Color
• Press and hold the left button ( ) to achieve a warmer CCT.
• Press and hold the right button ( ) to achieve a cooler CCT.
Assembly & Mounting Light Modifiers
Octabox Assembly
- Locate the Octabox and circular mounting ring.
- Undo the Octabox strap.
- Ensure each Octabox rib is placed through the corresponding elastic loop and rod pocket.
- Secure each rib into the pivoting rib receiver of the mounting ring and place the elastic loop on the hook.
- Face the front of the Octabox downward while grasping the Octabox mounting ring.
- While firmly holding the mounting ring, select a single Octabox rib and pull it back until it clicks into position.
- Going clockwise, continue to click each rib into place.
- Attach the included front diffusion panel to the front of the Octabox.
Attaching the Octabox
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Remove the u60-B Diffusion Dome from the front of the u60-B, exposing the LED array.
- While holding the Octabox, align the opening of the mounting ring with the front of the u60-B.
- Move the mounting ring closer to the front of the u60-B until the magnetic attraction mounts the modifier to the u60-B.
- Confirm the Octabox is aligned and properly mounted before using.
Removing, Collapsing, and Storing the Octabox
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before removing the Octabox.
- Firmly grasp the Octabox and pull away from the u60-B. Ensure that the light stand or mounting device does not fall over during this process.
- With the face of the Octabox facing downward and holding the mounting ring, use your thumbs to simultaneously press two adjacent square release buttons on the mounting ring to release two sections of ribs. Finish collapsing the modifier by simultaneously pressing the remaining two release buttons. The tension release of the ribs may produce a sound that some may find startling the first time. Please note, this sound is normal.
- Once collapsed, store at room temperature.
Attaching the Diffusion Dome
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Grasp the front of the Diffusion Dome and align the dome’s opening with the front of the u60-B.
- Move the Diffusion Dome closer to the front of the u60-B until the magnetic attraction mounts the modifier to the u60-B. Ensure that the light stand or mounting device does not fall over during this process
- The Diffusion Dome may require a slight turn to ensure the proper mounting.
Removing the Diffusion Dome
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before removing the Diffusion Dome.
- Firmly grasp the dome and pull away from the u60-B. Ensure that the light stand or mounting device does not fall over during this process.
Mounting Other Light Modifiers
Mounting an Umbrella or Umbrella-Based Modifier
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Loosen the umbrella receptacle tension screw located on the u60-B tilter bracket.
- Insert the rod of the modifier into the receptacle and tighten the screw to secure it in place.
Removing an Umbrella or Umbrella-Based Modifier
- Allow the u60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Loosen the umbrella receptacle tension screw located on the u60-B tilter bracket.
- Slide the rod of the modifier out of the umbrella receptacle.
DC Battery Operation
Required Components (sold separately)
- 14.4/14.8 D-tap/PowerTap Battery
- Westcott D-Tap to Barrel Plug Cable (#4908)
Connecting a D-Tap/PowerTap Battery
- Ensure the u60-B is off.
- Unplug the AC adapter from the u60-B.
- Insert the barrel plug of the Westcott D-Tap cable into the power receptacle located on the lower rear portion of the u60-B.
- Plug the D-Tap connector into the battery.
- Power on the battery.
- Press and hold the Power button on the u60-B.
Warranty
Westcott’s warranty obligations for this product are limited to the following terms.
The F.J. Westcott Co. (“Westcott”) warrants this Westcott branded product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of retail purchase from Westcott or an authorized retailer by the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option and to the extent permitted by law, Westcott will either (1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured by or for Westcott that can be identified by the Westcott trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them.
This warranty does not apply to: (a) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake, mold, or other external causes; (b) damage caused by operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by Westcott; (c) a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Westcott; or (d) cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic.

Please contact Westcott Customer Support for a Return Authorization Number “RMA” prior to requesting warranty service. This RMA must be clearly written on the outside of the box to the left of the shipping label. Items sent in without pre-authorization or that do not fall under the limited warranty will be returned at the expense of the sender.
