The ColorStrip LED Wi-Fi-enabled lights are perfect for lighting up your room and are suitable for countless applications. From ceiling to cabinets to under furniture lighting, they brighten up your surroundings. Perfect for holiday decorations, they can be installed and mounted on the back of TVs, computers, doorways, and cabinets. The adhesive backing makes the color strip affixable to almost any surface. The Color Strip LED lights are controlled by the Tzumi Smart Home app via Wi-Fi, allowing you to control them from anywhere in the world, share with family and friends, and come to a perfectly lit home.

Installation

  1. Choose the surface where you want to apply the ColorStrip, make sure the surface is clean and free of any oil or liquids.
  2. Locate an available USB port where you wish to install the ColorStrip. You may use any USB power source such as an USB adapter or power bank if necessary.
  3. Make sure that you are satisfied with the coverage area of the ColorStrip prior to peeling off the adhesive tape. Make sure that the USB cable is placed near the USB port and has enough slack to reach safely.
  4. Remove the protective film from the adhesive backing and attach the strip to the desired area, press on the strip firmly for a couple of seconds to secure.
  5. Connect the ColorStrip with the USB cable and insert the cable into the USB port.
  • To adjust size of the LED Light Strip, please cut along designated line as shown below:

NOTE: Cutting anywhere else will result in damage of partial or total LED Light Strip.

Assembly

  • Connect the ColorStrip with the USB cable

Setting Up The Tzumi Smart Home app

  1. Have your Wi-Fi network and password readily available.
  2. Ensure that your mobile device is running on Android 5.0 or above / iOS 9 or higher.
  3. Make sure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  4. Download the Tzumi Smart Home app from the Apple App store or “Google Play Store.”
  5. Once the account is set up, or if you already have an account, log in to your account.

Scan the code to download the latest version of “Tzumi Smart Home” or search “Tzumi Smart Home” in the App store.

Adding the ColorStrip to the Tzumi Smart Home app

Method 1: EZ Setup
Step 1: Once you are logged in the Tzumi Smart Home app click on the (+) sign in the top right corner.
Step 2: Power on the ColorStrip and ensure that the light is blinking quickly. That indicates it’s ready to connect. If not, press and hold the power button for 6 seconds to reset it.
Step 3: Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Step 4: The Tzumi Smart Home app will try to connect to your device. (Make sure that your phone and device are as close to your router as possible)
NOTE: The Tzumi Smart Home app cannot connect to 5 GHZ networks. If the connection fails, try connecting through AP mode.

Method 2: Manual AP
Step 1: Make sure that the device is in AP mode and is blinking slowly.
Step 2: In the Tumi Smart Home app on the top corner of the device click (+) choose “AP Mode”
Step 3: Click Next and enter Wi-Fi details
Step 4: Follow the instructions and select the device from your Wi-Fi list.
Step 5: The device will now connect.

How to Control the ColorStrip

  1. Once connected, click on the name you have given your ColorStrip.
  2. On the main menu, choose from different modes of lighting i.e. night, reading, cocktail, leisure, etc.
  3. You can also choose from different color modes at the bottom of the screen.
  4. A rainbow sphere will appear with an array of colors simply slide left or right to choose your favorite color.
  5. You can also select the intensity and brightness of light from the bottom of the screen.
  6. Under schedule, you can set up different days of the week to use Smart Mode and schedule times for the light(s) to turn on and off.

How to Add Several Devices Together on The Tzumi Smart Home app
You can also group devices on the Tzumi Smart Home app. Follow these steps to group several devices together:

  1. From your main device click on one of the devices, you want to group.
  2. Press the “…” button on the top right corner for advanced settings.
  3. Click on “Create Group”.
  4. Choose which devices you would like to group together and click save.

Using the ColorStrip with the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa

You can control the ColorStrip with your voice using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa smart voice control devices. Voice control is only available in English at this time.

Requirements:

  • Make sure the ColorStrip is on.
  • The ColorStrip is active in the Tzumi Smart Home app.
  • A device with the Google assistant (i.e. Google Home, Google Home Mini) or an Alexa-enabled device. (i.e. Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show)
  • The Google Home app or Amazon Alexa is installed on your smart device and you have an active account.

Control the ColorStrip with the Google Assistant

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Say “OK Google, talk to Tzumi Smart” the Google Assistant will initiate the Google Action for the ColorStrip.
  3. Follow the instructions on the Google Home app to link the Tzumi Smart Action.

You are now ready to control the ColorStrip with simple voice commands.

Try These:

  • “OK Google, turn the ColorStrip on” ­ the ColorStrip will turn ON.
  • “OK Google, turn the ColorStrip off” ­ the ColorStrip will turn OFF.
  • “OK Google, set the ColorStrip to 50%” ­ the ColorStrip will dim to 50%.
  • “OK Google, change the ColorStrip color to purple” ­ the ColorStrip will turn purple.

Control the ColorStrip with Amazon Alexa

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smart device and select `Skills’ from the options menu.
  2. Once you are on the Skills’ page, search forTzumi Smart’ and tap `Enable’.
  3. Use your Tzumi Smart Home app credentials to log in to give Alexa access to control the ColorStrip.

You are now ready to control the ColorStrip with simple voice commands.

Try These:

  • “Alexa, turn the ColorStrip on” ­ the ColorStrip will turn ON.
  • “Alexa, turn the ColorStrip off” ­ the ColorStrip will turn OFF.
  • “Alexa, set the ColorStrip to 50%” ­ the ColorStrip will dim to 50%.
  • Alexa, change the ColorStrip color to purple” ­ the ColorStrip will turn purple.

Note: Due to software changes, some of the instructions or commands may change or no longer work.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I share access to the ColorStrip with family and friends?

Your family and friends can have access to control the ColorStrip LED light. In the Tzumi Smart Home app, press the profile button and click on the “Device Sharing” button and you will be able to give or revoke sharing permissions. In order to qualify, the other user should already have downloaded the Tzumi Smart Home app.

2. How many devices can I control?

The Tzumi Smart Home app can control an unlimited number of devices in an unlimited amount of locations. Please note that your router may have a limit on how many devices can be connected to one router.

3. The device appears offline or unreachable what can I do?

Make sure that your Wi-Fi router is online and in range. Ensure that you have the latest version of the Tzumi Smart Home app by clicking “Check for firmware update” in your device settings.

4. What’s the wireless range?

The Wi-Fi range depends on your home router and the conditions of the room, check your router for the exact data range.

5. How can I reset the device and what does the blinking light mean?

• Reset the LED strip by pressing and holding the reset button to loop between Easy Mode and AP mode.
• Reset once (press and hold the power button for 6 seconds) to reach Easy Mode which is the primary way the app will try to connect. (When in easy mode you’ll see the LEDs flashing quickly 2xs per second)
• Reset again (press and hold the power button for 6 seconds again) to reach AP mode which is the back up mode to help connect. (when in AP mode you’ll see the LEDs blinking slowly every three seconds).

Safety Instructions

  • Keep the ColorStrip away from flammable objects.
  • Ensure that all parts have been connected properly to avoid short circuit.
  • Check the voltage of the power source, it must be 5V.
  • Do not connect the ColorStrip to a power source until all installations are complete.
  • Caution risk of electric shock or burns, use in a dry location only
  • Do not immerse in water.
  • The ColorStrip must be unplugged when making any modifications to the device.

WARNING: This product may exceed the power limits of certain USB ports with a 500-milliamp power draw. Check with the manufacturer of your TV/computer to determine specifications of the USB port available before connecting.
