Product Usage Instructions

First Time Configuration:

  1. Create a User Account:
  2. Open the app and select Register at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Enter your Name and select Next.
  4. Enter your Email and Password and select Next. Note the password requirements.
  5. Add a profile image and select Sign Up.
  6. Check your email for verification and confirm the email address.
  7. Registering Your SmartStrikeTM Lock:
  8. Add a Location for the lock with a name and image.
  9. Enter a name for the lock and perform a communication test.

Using the SmartStrikeTM Lock:

  1. Configuring Device Hold Time:
  2. Navigate to settings and select the lock.
  3. Select Hold Time and adjust using the slider.
  4. Controlling the Door Lock:
  5. Slide the slider up to unlock.
  6. Refer to Hold Time settings to change the unlocking duration.
  7. Switching SmartStrike Locks:
  8. Select the lock name from the list to control.
  9. Switching Locations:
  10. Select the location name to switch between different devices.

FAQ:

  • Q: How do I adjust the hold time for the SmartStrikeTM lock?
    A: Navigate to settings, select the lock, choose Hold Time, and adjust using the slider.

  • Q: What should I do if the communication test fails during lock registration?

First Time Configuration

To control your new SmartStrike™ lock the DEN Smart Home app will need to be installed on your mobile device and an account created in order to secure the lock.

Before You Begin
Before proceeding with using the app, ensure the following items are on hand.

  • DEN SmartStrike™ Door Lock.
  • Android or iOS Mobile Device.
  • DEN SmartStrike™ app installed on mobile devices.

Steps for First Time Configuration

  1. Install the DEN SmartStrike™ APP
  2. Create a User Account
  3. Register the Door Lock

Install the DEN SmartStrike™ APP
The app is available for both Android and iOS and can be located in their respective app stores.

Creating a User Account

To use the app a user account is required. Once the account is created your door lock can be added.

  1. Open the app and select Register at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Enter your Name and select Next.
  3. Enter your Email and Password and select Next. Note the password requirements.
  4. Add a profile image by selecting the over the image. Images can be added using the camera or selected within your gallery. After adding the image select Sign Up.
  5. A message will appear indicating that the account was created, however, it cannot be used until your email has been verified.
    • 5a. Check your email for a confirmation message from DEN Smart Home, click on Confirm Email Address to complete the registration process.
    • 5b. You may now return to the app log in with your credentials and continue to Registering Your SmartStrike™ Lock. DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(2\)

Registering Your SmartStrike Lock

Once the account is created your new door lock needs to be added to the app. When you log in for the first time you will be presented with screens for added security, this can be skipped and added later by following the steps in the Configuring Added Security section.

  1. Open the App and log in with your credentials.
  2. A screen will appear to set up Two-factor authentication, this can be skipped at this time.
    • 2a. Select Skip to proceed to register your SmartStrike™ lock.
    • 2b. Select Setup Two-factor and refer to Configuring Two-Factor Security for details.
  3. Scan the QR code on the rear of the lock or on the carton label.
    • 3a. If the Device Located message appears, select Add to Location.
    • 3b. If the Device Out of Range message appears, move closer to the device and try again.
    • 3c. If the Device Already Registered message appears, contact the device owner to deregister the device.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(3\)
  4. Add a Location for the lock.
    • 4a. Enter a name that best describes where the lock is located. Example: My Home.
    • 4b. Add an image for the location. This can be from your gallery or via the camera. Select Next to add the image.

  5. Enter a name for the lock and select Next.
    • 5a. A message will appear that the lock has been added to the location and will perform a test to verify communication with the lock.
    • 5b. If the unlocked message appears, the communication test was successful and the lock can now be controlled.

Using the SmartStrike Lock

Configuring Device Hold Time
Hold time is the amount of time the device remains unlocked. The default time is 6 seconds and can be adjusted from 2 ~ 20 seconds.

  1. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen. Select Locations and Locks.
  2. Select the lock.
  3. Select Hold Time.

Controlling the Door Lock

  1. Navigate to the Device Control home screen.

  2. Slide the slider up to unlock.
    The lock will lock after the set hold time. Refer to Configuring Device Hold Time to change the amount of time the lock will remain unlocked.

  3. A message will appear during the unlocking process and when the lock has been unlocked. The door can be opened once the unlocked message appears.

  4. A message will appear that the door can be closed once the lock has returned to the locked position.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(9\)

Switching SmartStrike Locks

  1. Navigate to the Device Control home screen.

  2. Select the lock name to open the list of locks.
    NOTE: Only one lock has been added to the location if there is no arrow to the right of the lock name.

  3. Select the lock name from the list.

Switching Locations

  1. Navigate to the Device Control home screen.
    NOTE: If there is no white box around the location name then only one location exits.

  2. Select the location name a the top of the screen.

  3. Swipe left or right to review locations and select.

Lock Control Options

The lock can be controlled via various methods and devices.

Syncing an Apple Watch

  1. Install the DEN app on your Apple Watch via the Apple App Store.
  2. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select Account.
  4. Select Apple Watch.
  5. Select Sync Watch.
  6. A checkmark will appear when the watch is synced.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(12\)

Connecting to a Z Wave Hub

  1. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Locations and Locks.
  3. Select the lock.
  4. Select Z Wave.
    • 4a. Select Z-Wave Learn.
    • 4b. App will look for a Z Wave hub and connect the lock to the hub.

Configuring Added Security

While the app has an email address for login additional Biometric and Two Factor security can be added to the app. Configuring these features will also allow for faster access to the app when logging in.

Configuring Biometric Security
Biometric security allows for access to the app using fingerprint and face recognition, to use this feature these items must be configured in the mobile device before configuring them within the DEN Smart Home App.

  1. Configure Biometric Authentication on your mobile device and then open the DEN Smart Home app.
  2. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Open the Security menu and select Biometric Authentication.
  4. Turn On Biometric Authentication.
  5. A screen will appear on your mobile device asking for a fingerprint and/or face recognition to verify your identity. Follow the instructions on the screen from your mobile service to complete authentication.

Configuring Two-Factor Security
When Two-Factor security is configured a code will be sent to your device that can be entered for access to the app. This will only be needed if you log out and view the Settings menu.

  1. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Open the Security menu and select Two-factor Authentication.
  3. Enter your Phone Number and select Send Code
  4. Verify your phone number.
    • 4a. Check your message app for a verification code from DEN Smart Home.
    • 4b. Enter the code from DEN SmartStrike™ that was sent to your phone.
  5. Once the code is verified Two-factor authentication is enabled.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(15\)

Configuring Access

Configuring Temporary Access

  1. Navigate to the Guest menu and select the Guest Access icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Select Temporary.
  3. Configure Temporary Access.
    • 3a. Select a location and lock. Select Access Schedule to add days and times.
    • 3b. Select the days and times for recurring access. Select Done to save.
    • 3c. Review the details and select Next to save.
  4. Register the Guest.
    • 4a. Enter the Name and Email of the guest and select Next to save.
    • 4b. Review the guest’s information and select Register to save.
  5. The guest will receive an email notifying them that they have been invited which includes a link to get the app.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(18\)

Configuring Recurring Access

  1. Navigate to the Guest menu and select the Guest Access icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Select Recurring.
  3. Configure Recurring Access.
    • 3a. Select a location and lock. Select Recurring Days to add days and times.
    • 3b. Select the days and times for recurring access. Select Done to save.
    • 3c. Review the details and select Next to save.
  4. Register the Guest.
    • 4a. Enter the Name and Email of the guest and select Next to save.
    • 4b. Review the guest’s information and select Register to save.
  5. The guest will receive an email notifying them that they have been invited which includes a link to get the app.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(19\)

Creating an Access Pass

A Pass allows for the creation of access for specific dates and times. A link to the pass is created that can be shared with anyone who requires access during the time period of the pass.

  1. Navigate to the Guest menu and select the Add Access in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Select Pass to configure the dates and times for the pass.
  3. Set the Location and Locks for the pass.
    • 3a. Select the Location and Lock for the pass. If you wish to receive notifications, select Receive Notifications.
    • 3b. Select Access Schedule to enter a schedule for the pass.
  4. Set the dates and times for when the pass will be active.
    • 4a. Set From date and time.
    • 4b. Set To date and time.
    • 4c. Click Select to complete the date and time entry.
  5. Review dates and times and click Next to continue.
  6. Enter a name to identify the pass and click on Create Pass. Example: Aug 19th and 20th.
  7. A link to the pass is created that can be shared with anyone.
    • 7a. Select the Send Icon to send the link directly from your mobile device.
    • 7b. Select Copy to copy and paste the link into other content.

Adding Locks and Locations

Adding a SmartStrike™ Lock
New SmartStrike devices can be added to a location from the Device Control home screen.

  1. Navigate to the Device Control home screen.
    • 1a. If multiple locations exist, select the Location.
    • 1b. Select the upper right-hand corner of the screen to add a dev.
  2. Scan the QR Code.
    • 2a. If the Device Located screen appears, select Add to [Location].
    • 2b. If the Device Out of Range screen appears, move closer to the device and try again.
    • 2c. If the Device Already Registered appears, contact the device owner to deregister the device.
  3. Enter a name for the device and select Register.
  4. When the device registered screen appears, select Done.
  5. The device will be available from the Device Control home screen.
    • 5a. Select the device name to see a list of registered devices for the currently selected location.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(22\)

Adding a Location
Locations can be added when needed. This is done using the Settings Menu.

  1. Navigate to the settings menu by selecting the setting icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Within the setting menu Select Locations and Locks.
  3. Select + New Location.
  4. Enter a name for the location and select Next.
  5. Select the in the middle of the screen to add a location image.
  6. The location has been created.
    • 6a. Select Done on the notification screen to continue.
    • 6b. The location will now appear in the Locations list.
  7. Navigate to Home and follow the steps for Adding a SmartStrike™ Lock to add devices to the newly created location.DEN-ZWBLE1US-Smart-Door-Lock-fig- \(23\)
