QD-Loop™ Rapid Dilution Device
Product No. QDS0100, QDS1000 (250 devices)
Introduction
Description and Intended Use
Hygiena’s QD-Loop™ is an all-in-one device containing 1 mL of Butterfield’s
diluent for rapid sample collection and dilution. QD-Loop eliminates the need
for sterile dilution buffer, dilution bottles, sterile pipettes and tips.
QD-Loop is available in two dilution sizes to make dilutions of 1:100 or
1:1,000 in a single step. The device is ready to use and can be used in
combination with conventional agar plates or dried gel systems.
Important Notes Before Starting the Test
Use aseptic technique: do not touch the sampling tip or shaft.
Test Procedure
- Remove the sampling tip from the tube, hold the sampling tip upright and submerge the tip in the sample for 1 – 2 seconds.
- Keeping the sampling tip and tube upright, place the sampler into the tube.
- Hold the device firmly and use your thumb and forefinger to break the Snap-Valve by bending the bulb forward and backward. Squeeze the bulb twice to expel the liquid into the tube.
- Shake the device to mix and dilute the sample.
- Culture by pouring the contents on sample-ready media film or agar plate or by streaking onto an agar plate.
Additional Information
Storage and Shelf Life
- Store at 2 to 8 °C (36 to 46 °F).
- Do not use past the expiration date on the label.
Disposal
Used devices that confirm positive culture results may be a biohazard and
should be disposed of safely in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices and
Health and Safety regulations. Disinfect before disposal. Devices can be
disinfected by autoclaving or by soaking unsealed devices in 20% bleach for 1
hour.
Safety and Precautions
- Components of QD-Loop devices do not pose any health risk when used in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures of this insert. Follow standard Good Microbiological Practices where appropriate.
- QD-Loop devices are for one-time use. Do not reuse.
- Butterfield’s diluent does not contain any dyes; therefore, it alone will not detect bacterial colonies. Sample broth must be used with culture media, such as agar plates, to grow and identify bacterial colonies.
- Do not use in the diagnosis of conditions in humans or animals.
- For further safety instructions, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Hygiena Liability
As with any culture medium-based test, QD-Loop results do not constitute a
guarantee of quality of food, beverage products or processes that are tested
