Requirements

  • Host computer with a free USB Type-C® port (to ensure full dock functionality, the host USB Type-C® port must support USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort ™ Alt  Mode or Thunderbolt ™ 3).
  • Any of the following operating systems: Windows ®, macOS ®

Note: The DockingStation can still connect to a host computer with a USB Type-C ® port that does not support Power Delivery (but must still support DisplayPort ™ Alt
Mode). In this configuration, the docking station will not provide power to your host notebook.

USB Type-C®
Not all USB Type-C ® ports support the full functionality of the USB Type-C ® standard. Some ports might only provide data transfer and might not support video or Power Delivery over USB.

To use this dock to its full potential, ensure that the host USB Type-C® port from your computer supports DisplayPort ™ Alt Mode, as well as Power Delivery or Thunderbolt

Note! The additional USB Type-C ® port on the docking station supports only Power Delivery (no data transfer).
Installation and use of the docking station

  1. Connect the USB Type-C®to Type-C®cable between the supported host computer and Type-C ® a host interface (2) of the docking station
  2. Connect your devices to the appropriate interfaces on the dock Maybe the dock will automatically install some of the required drivers once it is connected to your notebook’s USB Type-C ® port. If you receive any prompt, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

3. Connect your external monitor to the docking station’s video port.
Note: Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware specifications of your connected host notebook. Certain graphics cards have limited support, while some monitors will also limit the output resolution.
Configure a display device
Please set your display settings according to your operating system and requirements. For detailed information, consult the corresponding operation manual and description of your operating system.
Supported video resolutions
The docking station supports: – Ultra HD resolution via HDMI® if the connected HDMI® monitor and the graphics card support it via DP Alt Mode function.
Displays Video output configuration Maximum resolution/monitor
1 HDMI ® 3820×2160@60 Hz
Use of memory card slots SD card
Insert the SD card into the SD card slot with the beveled corner first. The golden pins of the card must point downwards (blue LED at the top).
microSD card
Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot with the beveled corner first. The golden pins of the card must point upwards (blue LED at the top).
– Multi-LUN card readers – allow the use of two cards simultaneously
Note: In order to power and charge your connected notebook, its USB Type-C ® port must support USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt ™
3. Important:
1. When the IB-DK2108M-C is connected via the USB Type-C ® interface of a Chromebook ™, a mouse connected via USB Type-A is not recognized immediately, but the connection is established with a delay of a few seconds. This also happens with other Type-C® adapters (including Apple’s original 3-in-1 adapter) when they are connected to a Chromebook ™.
2. Attention! When connecting or disconnecting a Power Delivery adapter via the Type-C ® interface of the IB-DK2108M-C, the other interfaces used may be disconnected briefly and then immediately reconnected. To avoid data loss during a data transfer, stream interruptions, or the like, DO NOT connect or disconnect the Power Delivery power supply while data transfers are in progress.
Installation of an M.2 NVMe SSD (optional)
M.2 NVMe SSD not included
1. Unscrew the two screws of the M.2 NVMe SSD cover at the bottom as shown below and take off the cover. 2. Insert the M.2 NVMe SSD carefully with the connection side first into the M.2 socket at an angle of about 30° so it fits in smoothly. 3. Push the SSD down and fix the M.2 NVMe SSD with the delivered M.2 spacer and screw as displayed. 4. Prepare the delivered thermal pad and remove the transparent protection foil at one side. 5. Place the thermal pad (side without foil downwards) directly onto the M.2 NVMe SSD and remove the second transparent protection foil now. 6. Reattach the cover and the two screws previously removed. 7. Ready to use!
8. Optionally, you can use the supplied protective rubber sleeve to protect the unit. To do this, place the device in the sleeve according to the cut-outs for the connections.

Advice for an installed M.2 NVMe drive (optional)
M.2 NVMe SSD not included
The IB-DK2108M-C with installed M.2 NVMe drive inside can be connected to or disconnected from the computer via USB cable without shutting down the computer. A new drive must first be initialized, partitioned and formatted by the operating system in order to be displayed by the system. If the drive is not recognized instantly by the operating, system please check: – if the driver software is installed (USB)
– if the SSD is initialized, partitioned and formatted
Please await the end of read/write operations before disconnecting the drive in order to avoid data loss.
The full USB 3.1 (Gen 2) transfer rate can only be achieved with a USB 3.1 (Gen 2) host computer. Furthermore, the USB 3.1 (Gen 2) drivers must be installed by the operating system. If this is not the case, install the appropriate drivers for your operating system (Windows, macOS ® ).
