Product Usage Instructions

Bracket Placement

  1. All brackets should be placed in the center of the cable bundle.
  2. If brackets are installed before the cable is pulled, consult engineering drawings for the given project.
  • Step 1
    Align and insert the channel nut through the bottom opening of the ladder rung.

  • Step 2
    Position the bracket assembly perpendicular to the ladder rung.

  • Step 3
    Thread the channel nut, rotating it 90 degrees to grasp the channel edges, and continue threading until resistance is felt. Torque the bolt to a recommended 75 lbsin [8.5 Nm]. See page 6 for further instruction.

UC TH1 Brackets for Top Hat Ladder Rung Systems

  1. Position the bracket under the ladder rung.
  2. Insert the retainer clip into the correct bracket slot, as specified by dimension X.
  3. Insert the bolt through the retainer clip and bracket.
  4. Thread the nut and torque it to a recommended 75 lbsin [8.5 Nm]. See page 6 for further instruction.

UCIB1 and UCIB2 Brackets for I-Beam Ladder Rung Systems

  1. For UCIB1:

    • Match the bracket type to the appropriate ladder rung as shown
      in the diagram.

    • Position the bracket under the rung.

  2. For UCIB2:

    • Place the retainer clip in the bracket slot.
    • Insert the bolt through the retainer clip and bracket.
  3. Thread the nuts and torque them to a recommended 75 lbsin [8.5
    Nm]. See next page for further instructions.

Individual Cushion Sleeve Installation and Buckle Strap Cleat Threading

  • Step 1
    Position the cushion sleeve under the cable or cable bundle.

  • Step 2
    Wrap the cushion sleeve around the cable or cable bundle. Insert the barbed end of the cushion sleeve into the cushion sleeve slot.

Description

INDIVIDUAL CUSHION SLEEVE INSTALLATION AND BUCKLE STRAP CLEAT THREADING

  1. Position cushion sleeve under cable or cable bundle.
  2. Wrap cushion sleeve around cable or cable bundle. Insert barbed end of cushion sleeve into cushion sleeve slot. Secure the cushion sleeve tightly around the bundle by holding the grip end and pulling the barbed end.
  3. Feed barbed end of the cushion sleeve through the loop. Optional: Cut off excess barbed end with scissors or shears.
  4. Encircle the cable bundle with the buckle strap cleat. Thread the end of the body through the opening and underneath the bridge of the buckle. Push the body through to the other side.
  5. The body should go through the buckle as shown.
  6. Position the buckle at the top of the cable or at 45 degrees of the cable bundle as shown. It does not matter what side of the cable bundle the buckle sits on. The body should sit in the center of the cushion sleeve. Pull the body tight.
  7. Repeat Step 5 and 6
  8. to make a double loop.
  9. Reposition the tie as shown in step 6 and pull body tight. Repeat step 5 and 6 to make a triple loop.
  10. Before installation with the tool, ensure body is centered on the cushion sleeve, and the cleat body is wrapped around the bracket. Pull the body’s tail to remove as much slack as possible.

BT2HTI INSTALLATION

The tool tension has been calibrated to the optimum factory performance setting.

If tension adjustments are required, loosen set screw and adjust tension accordingly. (Use 0.50″ Allen wrench)

Note : If using detent feature, ensure tension set screw has been set to directed scribe line shown above. Further adjustments may be required after initial installations.

Description

  1. Become familiar with pages 10 and 11 if this is the first use of the tool. When ready, rotate the mandrel by squeezing the front handle repeatedly until lined up with the slot in the nose. From the side, slide the tool so the body material fits in the slot of the nose and mandrel.
  2. Slide the nose of the tool to the bridge of the buckle of the strap cleat. Ensure the body is fully seated within the nose and mandrel. Tension body by squeezing the front handle. Repeat until the bodies conform to the shape of the bundle and ensure the buckle does not move.
  3. Rotate tool until it touches the buckle. If there are room constraints, rotate the tool as much as possible.
  4. While the tool is bent forward, rotate cutter handle towards the cable bundle until the body is cut. The removed piece may be recycled. To avoid losing tension, the tool should then be removed without bending the body.

FINISHING INSTALLATION

Description

  1. Press down on the cutoff end of strap body. The cutoff body should be below the tab opening in the buckle.
  2. Insert a 5/16” screwdriver (or equivalent) inside the tab opening of the buckle. The screwdriver must be on top of the cutoff body.
  3. Ensure the screwdriver tip remains on top of the cutoff body throughout the buckle tab rotation.
  4. Installation is complete.

INTRODUCTION

The BT2HTI Tool installs Panduit buckle strap cleats. Body thickness of the buckle strap cleat is ¾” (19mm) wide by 0.03” (.76 mm).
Note : This tool is not intended for other uses such as cutting or tensioning other types of fastening devices.

TOOL OPERATION

TOOL MAINTENANCE
TO INHIBIT CORROSION AND MAINTAIN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TOOL, KEEP THE METAL SURFACES COATED WITH A LIGHT OIL (WD-40 OR EQUIVALENT). After every 5,000 cuts (or when experiencing a significant increase in cutting force), use a WD-40 aerosol to blow the dirt and debris off of the blade and blade housing area.
