Buttons and Ports Labeled

Button/Switch Function Explained

Multifunction button

• Not on menu page : Short press once to turn on/off the screen; short press twice to mute/unmute the device; hold for about 2s to activate the settings menu.
• On menu page: Short press to switch between the settings menu; hold for about 2s to exit the settings menu.

Volume+ button
Short press once to increase the volume for 1 level; hold to continuously increase the volume; page up on the settings menu.

Volume- button
Short press once to decrease the volume for 1 level; hold to continuously decrease the volume; page down on the settings menu.

Desktop mode switch
Set the Desktop mode switch to ON, and connect the side power in port to a power adapter to enable high voltage power supply and parallel drive, thus acquiring desktop-level output power.

An Introduction to Display Information

1. Current volume: Display the current volume level.
2. Current gain level: “H” stands for high gain, “L” stands for low gain.
3. Current UAC version: “U2.0” and “U1.0” respectively stand for different UAC versions.
4. Desktop mode: The displayed “D” character means the Desktop mode is enabled.
5. Music format/sampling rate display: Display the format and sampling rate of the currently playing song.

An Introduction to Settings Menu

1. GAIN: Select high or low gain.
2. FLT: Digital filter, 8 types of filters available.
3. VOL-STEP : Volume level control, 60 and 120 levels available.
4. ADJ-L/R: Channel balance settings of the left/right channel.
5. DIMMER: Dimmer setting of the display.
6. MQA: Enable or disable MQA.
7. EQ: Equalizer setting.
8. MAX VOL: Maximum volume limit.
9. ROT-DISP : Rotate the display. It can be set to rotate 180 degrees.
10. OFF-DISP : Set the time that the display can be auto-locked if there is no activity.
11. U-AUDIO : Select between USB 2.0/1.0.
12. LANGU : Chinese and English available.
13. VERSION : Firmware version display.
14. RECOVER : Recover default settings.

An Introduction to Pop-up Windows

1. If the display shows an “Output error”, the KA17 will stop outputting. Please disconnect the USB power supply, unplug the headphones, and then reconnect the USB power, and replug the headphones to use it.
2. If the display shows “Over temperature”, the KA17 is overheating abnormally. Please disconnect the USB power supply and try again after it cools down. It is suggested to enable the Desktop mode in non-high temperature environments.
3. If the display shows “Powerless”, it means that the power supply of the current USB port is insufficient and the output power is limited.

Decoding Function Explained

1. Use a USB Type-C or Lightning cable to connect the KA17 to a mobile phone, tablet PC, or other devices.
   • A compatibility issue may occur in certain mobile phones or music players due to system and hardware differences.
   • Some mobile phones are required to turn on the OTG function, to use the KA17 normally.
2. The KA17 runs driver-free on Windows 10 and above systems, as well as Mac OS. You can install the USB driver on your PC, so it can support the ASIO mode for a better user experience. Please download the USB driver on our official website: https://www.jadeaudio.com/supports
   • The USB-A to Type-C adapter included in the package can be used when connecting through the USB-A port.
   • When connecting to a computer, please ensure the “FIIO KA17” is selected as the audio output device.
3. When it is working under the Exclusive USB Audio Access Mode, the volume control may be unavailable on some devices. Please ensure the volume level is appropriate before wearing headphones.
4. When updating the firmware, the display will show “Updating”. Please do not cut off the USB power until it shows “Update Finished”. Please visit https://www.fiio.com/ka17_faqfor detailed instructions on updating the firmware.

Notes and Precautions

• The device is powered by USB, which will consume battery power from the mobile phone or computer. But connecting through the side power input port will not consume their power.
• If using a power adapter to charge the device, please use an appropriate and certified one.
• Since the device features a high-performance DAC/Amp chip, it is normal for heating would occur during use.
• Please adjust the volume to a suitable level before wearing headphones to protect your hearing.
• Please do not wear headphones when plugging in or unplugging the headphones in case there may be an impulse noise damaging your hearing.
• Please do not repair or disassemble the product on your own and please keep it away from water.
• For your safety, please avoid using headphones in dangerous environments.

Master Quality Authenticated
The KA17 includes MQA technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording. The KA17 Now Playing screen shows a green or blue dot next to the MQA logo to indicate that the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source material. It shows a blue dot to indicate it is playing an MQA Studio file, which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has been verified by the copyright owner.
