Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Install GPS Antenna

  1. Locate the port labeled “GPS” on the eNB.
  2. Connect an optional external GPS antenna to the N-female connector on the eNB.

Step 2: Power On & Check LEDs

  1. Connect the power cable to the power supply (-48VDC).
  2. Plug the power cable into a power source.
  3. Check the LEDs on the eNB:
    • PWR LED should be steady on green, indicating power is on.
    • ACT LED should be steady on green, indicating the cell is activated.
    • RUN LED should be flashing (fast or slow), indicating the board status.
    • ALM LED should be steady on red if there is a hardware alarm.

Step 3: Check eNB Status in Software

  1. Open a web browser and enter the following address: http://192.168.150.1
  2. Login to the Base Station GUI using the default credentials (admin/admin).
  3. Navigate to BTS Info > Status Info > Cell Status. The status should be “Active”.
  4. If you have an OMC account, you can also login to https://cloudcore.cloudapp.net/cloudcore/ and check the eNB status under eNB > Monitor > Active Status.

Step 4: Install eNB on Pole or Wall

  1. Select a suitable location for installing the eNB.
  2. If installing on a pole, ensure the pole diameter is between 1.6 to 3.9 inches (40 to 100 mm).
  3. Securely mount the eNB on the pole or wall using appropriate mounting hardware.

Step 5: Connect GPS, RF, Optical Fiber, & Ethernet Cables

  1. Locate the corresponding ports on the eNB:
    • GPS: Port for GPS antenna
    • ANT0, ANT1, ANT2, ANT3: Ports for RF antennas
    • OPT: Optical backhaul interface
    • ETH: RJ-45 interface for Ethernet cable
  2. Connect the appropriate cables to their respective ports.

Step 6: Connect Power & Grounding

  1. Connect the power cable to the eNB’s power input port.
  2. Connect the other end of the power cable to the power supply (-48VDC).
  3. Ensure proper grounding by connecting the ground cable to the eNB and a suitable grounding point.

Introduction

This quick start guide is intended for experienced installers. It provides high-level milestones for installing the Baicells Nova-436 Outdoor 4x1W TDD eNodeB. For more details, please refer to the Baicells Nova-436 Outdoor 4x1W TDD eNB Installation Guide on the website. If you will be setting up the Nova-436 for dual carrier (split mode) operation, please also refer to the Baicells Dual Carrier Configuration Quick Guide.

Check and Prepare

  • 1 Nova-436 eNodeB unit
  • 1 90V to 305V AC to 48V DC power adaptor
  • 1 two-wire green power terminal
  • 1 American standard power plug
  • 2 SFP optical modules
  • 1 GPS antenna assembly kit (including fixing accessories, M414 screw 2, 1 GPS jumper cable)
  • 1 assembled installation bracket kit (assembled: 1 bracket, omega4, M10160 outer hex bolt 4, M10 flat gasket4, M10 spring gasket4, M10 nut4; individual: M10 flat gasket6, M10 spring gasket6, M10 nut6, M880 expansion bolt *2)
  • 6 cold shrink tubes
  • 2 ground terminals
