SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION DETAILS
SOLAR ARRAY INSTALLATION MANUAUL
Important Safety Instruction
- Take precautions when working at height
- Make sure that the mounting surface is strong enough to carry your weight
- Use fall restraint system when working on roofs
- PV modules generate high voltages in sunlight – cover all modules until all wires are connected
Important Note
Use mounting system supplied to tilt solar modules to 15° or the locations
latitude, whichever is greater

- Insert and fix another foot in longer leg
- Fix all the feet
- Fix and tighten all the feet and erect the frame
- Insert the angle brace as shown in figure
- Similarly fix all the feet on rail on the other side
- After fixing all the feet in the mounting rails, attach feet of the frame to the supporting surface using the appropriate fixing – expansion bolts for concrete, coach screws for timber joists, J-bolt for steel sections, etc.
- Insert and slide the solar panel mounting end clamps on both sides with proper direction
- Rest the solar panel on the lower part of the frame with the help of mounting clamps and tighten them with theft deterrent fasteners using theft deterrent key as shown in above figure
- Take solar panel mounting mid clamp and slide spring nut inside the slotted rail on the both sides
- Fix the middle solar panel mounting clamp on both sides and rest the other solar pane on the frame
- Fix and tighten the bracket with the help of theft deterrent fastener after making sure both the panels are clamped and slide the top clamp on both sides
- Clamp the solar panel with clamps and tighten them with theft deterrent bolts
- Connect the connectors from the solar panel to the branch connector, ensure proper polarity
- Fix/ Clamp earth cable (20Mtrs) in the lay in lug fixed to the vent opening
- Similarly fix lay in lug to the solar array angle and clamp the other (5mtr) earth cable
EARTHING THE ARRAY
- Bond the solar modules and mounting frame together
- On the following pages we indicate how we would advise you to install an earthing rod.
- However we appreciate that existing methods in your locality might serve very well and you might well choose to follow those.
OPTIONS
- If the ground in the locality is solid, then using equipment provided, we suggest using a charcoal and salt pit
- Excavate to a depth of about 1.35m (top of your chest), with a diameter of at least 1m
- Dampen the bottom of the pit. Put a layer of charcoal with a layer of salt on top such that the remaining depth is about 1.2m (the earthing rod should just stick out above ground level); then a further good soaking of water.
- If you so wish, you can make this more effective by adding the following features (although you will have to source these components as we don’t supply them)
- After the last layer of salt has been laid, as the remaining depth is filled with earth, insert a pipe and connecting funnel or bucket. The funnel or bucket should be mounted such that it can be covered and not get damaged. By using this funnel and pipe, water can be delivered to the top layers of charcoal and salt, which will then fall naturally through the layers.
- However if the ground conditions are regularly damp but not overly wet, you could use the following method if you so choose
CONNECTING SOLAR MODULES
- Ensure the solar modules are completely covered before touching solar cables!
- Remove cover from solar modules and test the voltage with a multimeter
POSITIONING INSTRUCTIONS
- Position appliance to allow free air movement all a round
- Position appliance away from direct sunlight
- Allow for access to remove appliance lid
- Ensure unit is level before filling
- Check that support bridge and condensation baffle are correctly positioned
- Note: The baffle is designed to be loose
FILLING INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove ventilated lid and screw cap and fill with clean drinking water 230mm from top of pipe
- Observe safe working practices when filling the appliance
- Do not overfill the unit
- Replace screw cap and securely attach ventilated lid before starting the compressor
Fill the Device with 135L clean drinking water. Good examples of clean drinking water would be municipal water ( mains water supply), Reverse Osmosis (RO) water, distilled water or clean, bottled drinking water. The water should not be dirty nor contaminated. A mild dose of chlorine, consistent with drinking water quality standards, is helpful in disinfecting both the water and the container.
