  1. Push down on the release lever and open the door of the 1500-sheet feeder.
  2. Remove all orange tape and packing materials. Ensure that you check inside the 1500-sheet feeder for any packing materials or orange tape.

  4. Close the door on the feeder.

Installing the Printer onto the 1500-sheet Feeder

To prevent possible injury or damage to the printer, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables from the rear of the printer.
  2. If there are optional feeders installed, make sure to separate the printer from them by ensuring that the tray-lock lever is in the unlocked position.
  3. Position the 1500-sheet feeder where the printer will be located.
  4. Using the handles on the sides of the printer, lift the printer onto the 1500-sheet feeder.

  6. If optional 500-sheet feeder tray(s) are installed, ensure that the 1500-sheet feeder tray is installed as the bottom tray.

Adjusting Paper Size and Loading Paper

Follow these steps to adjust the paper size and load paper:

  1. If the 1500-sheet feeder is tray 5 for HP LaserJet 4250/4350 series, open the feeder door and remove the tray-number-indicator block. Turn it around and reinstall it so that the number 5 is visible through the slot in the door. If the feeder is any other tray, proceed to the next step.
  2. Move the tray-lock lever located along the top-left side of the tray into the locked position for each installed tray.
  3. Open the door of the 1500-sheet feeder.
  4. Pinch the levers at the front of the feeder and slide them to the desired paper size setting (LTR, LGL, or A4). Note that the guides cannot be adjusted when paper is in the feeder.
  5. CAUTION: Don’t fan the paper. Fanning can cause misfeeds.
  6. Load paper into the feeder, ensuring that the height of the stack does not exceed the fill marks on the paper guides, and aligning the front edge of the stack with the arrows.
  7. Close the door on the feeder.
