COMMISSIONING

  1. Connect the device to the 12/24V cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle so that you can clearly see the display. After plugging it in, do not try to rotate the plug in the socket. If necessary, pull it out, rotate it until it is oriented as required, then plug it in again until it stops. Always insert or remove the device by grasping the plug. If the display does not illuminate, push it all the way into the socket.
  2. Turn on the car radio, then find an FM frequency where you hear no radio program but a steady hiss. Use manual fine-tuning instead of automatic tuning. Store this “blank” frequency in one of the radio program slots, such as the last one. Later, you will have to select this slot number on the car radio to listen to the BT-FM modulator.
  3. Set the same frequency on the modulator as follows. Keep pressing or press and hold the CH+/CH- button to find the desired value. The device will store it and you can check it later in the upper right corner of the display. When the frequencies are aligned, you will no longer hear radio noise from the speakers.
  4. After you plug in the device or energise the socket, you will see the voltage of the vehicle battery in the lower row. The value flashes when difference is detected from the rated value, e.g., below 12.0 V.
  5. The BT symbol flashes in the upper left corner of the display until you connect your phone. Then, the display becomes steady and shows the name or ID of the connected phone.
  6. Pull the device out of the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket to switch it off.
    • If the display does not light up when the device is fully inserted, pull it out and re-insert it in a different position. If the problem persists, check if the cigarette lighter socket is live.
    • You can switch to another source (BT-USB-TF / microSD) by pressing the BASS button for 2 seconds.
    • If you turn it off to standby by pressing the TRE button for 2 seconds, the charging function will continue to work. Pressing and holding the TRE button again will switch back on.

WIRELESS BT CONNECTION

Within a maximum range of 8 meters, the unit can be paired with other equipment supporting the BT protocol. Then, you can then listen to the music played on your mobile phone through the car radio speakers. You can also make phone conversations through the car speakers. When the BT flashes, the device to be paired should locate nearby BT devices, including this one, as described in its operating manual. Connect the two devices, after which the BT indicator will stop flashing.

  • Next time, the two devices will recognize each other and connect automatically. • One BT-FM modulator can be paired with one BT device at a time.
  • The actual range depends on the other device and the environmental conditions. • The BT functionality and product compatibility depend on your mobile phone, so proper functioning cannot be guaranteed in all cases.

WIRELESS MUSIC PLAYBACK

When you start the music player on your paired phone, you can listen to songs in good quality through the car radio speakers. You can control the phone from the device, press the volume knob to start or stop playback. Use the backward and forward buttons to scroll between the tracks. You can check the current volume level in the top row of the display

  • We do not recommend setting the volume higher than 4/5 of the maximum volume. Too high levels may cause distorted sound, while low levels can result in increased noise. The correct setting depends on the car radio and the quality of the tracks, their recording volume and the compression program used to create them. The volume is also affected by the car radio settings.
  • The volume and sound quality are affected by the volume and tone settings of the external signal source. We recommend avoiding using tone control on your phone, and to adjust the tone to your liking on the modulator.
  • For the proper control of your tracks, you usually need to create a playlist in the music player application. Otherwise, the stepping keys may produce different results.

ANSWERING AND MAKING PHONE CALLS

When you receive a call, the number is announced in English and shown on the display. You can hear this from the car speakers, provided that the car radio is tuned to the preset frequency – for example, you may have been listening to music from your phone. If you are listening to a radio program when the phone rings, switch the radio to the previously assigned memory slot, i.e., the preset frequency.
Incoming calls are indicated on the display by a phone symbol and the calling number. You can answer a call by briefly pressing the rotary knob. You can end the call by pressing it again. You can reject an incoming call by pressing and holding the button. By pressing the knob twice, you can call back the last phone number. You can listen to the calling party through the car speakers. If music playback is not resumed after the conversation, press the rotary knob.

Making a call : start the call using your phone, listen to it through the car speakers, and you can end it using the rotary knob on the BT-FM modulator.
Starting a callback: you can double-press the rotary knob to dial the last number in the call list (depending on the phone settings, you may need to control your phone, e.g., if you have 2 SIM cards)
Answering an incoming call: briefly press the rotary knob to answer the call without touching the phone
Ending a call: press the rotary knob during the call
Rejecting an incoming call : while your phone is ringing press and hold the knob (~ for 3 seconds)
Switching to private mode: during the call, press and hold the rotary knob to switch from handsfree to your phone, and vice versa

  • Keep in mind that driving noise, an open window or the ventilating fan can affect the clarity of your voice at the other party. Speak in the direction of the microphone located on the left of the rotary knob.
  • The display and announcement of the calling number depends on your mobile service provider and phone settings.
  • When you return to the range or turn on the product, the device already paired and properly connected will reconnect automatically, provided that it is turned on and located nearby.
  • The volume and sound quality are affected by the volume and tone settings of the external signal source. We recommend avoiding using tone control on your phone, and to adjust the tone to your liking on the modulator.
  • The rated range is 8 to 10 metres ideally, in an open space with no objects or persons staying there, and if the devices are not in motion. This is affected by the characteristics of the connected devices and the environment (e.g., walls, human bodies, other electrical devices…).
  • If you move away from the connected device, the connection will be lost. If you approach it again, it will automatically reconnect. If music playback does not resume, press the play (rotary) knob. If the connection fails, turn on and off (unplug) the device or disable BT connection on your phone.
  • Radio frequency devices operated nearby may cause abnormal operation or noise; this does not indicate a malfunction of the sound box!
  • In certain cases, the BT functionality may be limited due to the individual features of your phone.
  • If you have special applications on your phone (such as voice control), it may respond irregularly to the instructions of the device.

MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, APE playback (from USB/microSD media)

Carefully insert a USB or microSD device with songs and playback will start automatically. If you cannot insert it smoothly, turn over the media and try inserting it again. Using the rotary knob (play/pause ) you can pause or resume playback or scroll to select the desired track. The rotary knob also serves as the volume control. If the song is attached appropriate text information, it will be shown on the display. If you want to stop listening to music from an external media and switch to payback over BT, stop playback and then remove the storage media. Do not remove the memory unit during playback! The device switches to BT mode automatically e.g., if your phone rings. You can also select the available sources by pressing the BASS button for 2 seconds (BT-USB-TF / microSD).

  • It is not recommended to connect a USB and microSD device at the same time.
  • The volume and sound quality are affected by the volume and tone settings of the external signal source. We recommend avoiding using tone control on your phone, and to adjust the tone to your liking on the modulator.
  • If you have an incoming call while playing music, it will automatically switch to phone mode.
  • In music playback mode, stop playback and then remove the storage media – it will switch to BT mode.
  • Do not remove the memory card or USB device during playback, as this may cause corruption of the data.
  • Recommended file system: FAT32. Do not use an NTFS formatted memory card.
  • Abnormal operation may be caused by the individual characteristics of the storage device; this is not a sign of product malfunction.
  • Store only playable files on it, as the presence of other types may slow down or prevent playback. We do not recommend using a storage media larger than 32GB.

Conventional tone control

It is recommended to set the volume level of the external signal source (e.g., your phone) to medium and to turn off volume control on it and on the car radio. Use the modulator to adjust the treble (TRE), bass (BASS) and volume to the given track. After pressing either of the TRE or BASS buttons,

you can adjust the selected parameter with the rotary knob or stepping buttons. The ideal setting may vary from track to track, and the result may also be affected by the volume and tone settings on the car radio.
You can use the EQ menu to select additional sound settings: Natural, Rock, Pop, Classic, Soft, Jazz, Dynamic Bass Boost. EQ modes and the treble/bass control may override each other.

Spectrum analyser

While you listen to music, a real-time 19 band graphic instrument analyses the presence of sound at different frequencies. You can check the current level of bass, mid and high frequencies.

HiFi standard circuits

The built-in digital-to-analogue audio conversion algorithm is specifically designed for the high-fidelity playback of music. An additional solution is also provided to enhance sound quality by preventing the formation of a ground loop and to ensure high-end sound by reducing noise.

Menu functions

Press and hold the rotary knob (for 3s) to display a menu. It offers more options when using an external storage media than for music playback over wireless BT connection. In the latter case, only the EQ and language functions are available.
Directory: songs by serial number and name, where the file name contains such information
Delete songs: if you select YES with the rotary knob and confirm your selection by pressing the knob
Track repeat modes: repeat current song or directory, shuffle playback
EQ modes: natural, rock, pop, classical, soft, jazz, dynamic bass boost
Languages: English, Hungarian, Czech, Romanian

  • The available options may vary due to continuous improvement.
  • If you experience abnormal operation during use or setup, de-energise the device by unplugging it from the vehicle for a short time, and then plug it again in the cigarette lighter socket. Try repeating the desired setting again.
  • In case of irregular functioning, disconnect the device and then switch it on again.

SOUND ASSISTANT

Pressing the: key for 2 seconds activates the voice assistant feature of the mobile phone connected via the BT connection – if it has one (eg Siri or Google assistant). Use this function as usual.

USB CHARGER OUTPUTS

You can charge two external devices simultaneously. The USB socket marked with a musical note is designed to accept primarily storage media containing music, however, but it may also be used for charging at 5 V/3.0 A. The quick charger socket under it is suitable for QC compliant devices, providing fast charging at high power. The combined charging power of the two sockets is 23 W. If your charging cable is rated for a lower capacity load, or the connected device is not QC3.0 compliant, the charging time may be longer.

  • Charging: 23 Watt total; 5 V/3.0 A + QC3.0: 5 V/3.0 A or 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A
  • Observe the parameters of the devices you want to charge and check the manufacturer’s instructions in their operating manual. Do not use it for devices the manufacturer of which requires other charging methods to be used.
  • When charging is complete, unplug the charging cables.

LINE OUT connector

By connecting an appropriate cable to the 3.5mm socket on the bottom of the device, you can connect it to an external amplifier. Alternatively, you can connect to the car radio’s AUX socket for perfect sound quality.

BUILT-IN BATTERY VOLTAGE METER

The bottom row of the display shows the voltage of the cigarette lighter socket. When extreme value (e.g., below 12.0V) is detected, the display flashes. When the engine is stopped, it shows the vehicle battery voltage (e.g., ~12.0 Volts). Based on this, you can estimate the battery power status and the degree of its wear. Ideally, this value is above 12 V. If the generator or electrical system of the vehicle is defective, or the battery is old, the value can be lower. In cold weather, or if you do not use the car for a long time, the voltage may drop faster, making it impossible to start the vehicle.
In this case, you are advised to start the engine from time to time for 15 to 20 minutes to prevent complete discharge. Start the engine and the instrument should read around 14.4 V. This may vary depending on the vehicle type. If the value is significantly lower, the generator may not charge the battery properly, while higher values may indicate overcharging. If you switch on some consumers (radio, lighting, wipers, heating…), the voltage value may change slightly only. An old, worn-out battery cannot be charged properly

  • The Voltmeter may be used to increase operational safety You can check the condition of the car battery before starting the engine
  • With the engine running, you can check the charging level
  • You can prevent starting difficulties in winter or when the vehicle is not used for a long time
  • You can see when your old battery get worn out and needs to be replaced.
  • If in doubt, consult a professional.

CLEANING, MAINTENANCE

Keep the cigarette lighter and USB sockets and the plug clean and dry to ensure perfect contact. Use a soft, dry cleaning cloth. Do not use detergents for cleaning. Do not allow liquids to spill on or enter the device. It does not require any special maintenance; if you experience a fault, please turn it off and contact an expert. Do not push the display and protect it from scratches.
