USAGE
NB:
- These operating instructions apply to various versions. It is possible that features are described that do not apply to your extractor hood.
- The type number is stated on a sticker on the inside of the extractor hood, which becomes visible as soon as the filter is removed from the extractor hood.
- The extractor hood must be mounted above a hob. The extractor hood can be mounted under a kitchen cupboard or hung freely on the wall.
Air supply
- When using the extractor hood, there must always be an air supply in the room, through which fresh air can flow. Fresh air can be supplied by opening a window or an outside door slightly or by fitting a supply grille.
- No matter how large the kitchen or the space with an open kitchen, only as much air can be extracted from the room as is supplied. Too small or the lack of an air supply opening will reduce the extraction capacity of the extractor hood.
- Too little air supply can cause a backfire in other existing exhaust ducts, for example via the smoke exhaust duct of the fireplace or other combustion appliances. This poses a risk of poisoning due to sucked-back gases and combustion gases.
Safety
- Keep constant supervision when frying under the hood.
- Never amber under the hood.
- In case of flame in the pan, always switch off the extractor hood.
- Never extinguish burning fats with water, but cover the pan with a suitable lid or a fire blanket.
Tips
The cooking fumes are most effectively removed by:
- Switch on the extractor hood a few minutes before cooking.
- Switch off the hood approximately 10 minutes after cooking is finished.
- Avoid drafts above the hob.
- Place the pans on the hob in such a way that the cooking vapors are well below the suction surface from the extractor hood.
- Cooking with induction: once the contents of the pan are boiling, reduce the intensity of the hob to limit the overproduction of vapors.
SERVICE
At the front of the extractor hood there is a control panel with 4 switches.
- Relief
- I Speed 1
- II Speed 2
- III Speed 3
The extractor hood is equipped with edge extraction. This means that the
extraction is concentrated on the edges of the extractor hood. This creates a
higher air speed at the edges, resulting in better extraction efficiency.
A self-acting thermal contact ensures that the motor is switched off in the
event of overheating. After cooling, the motor will switch on again.
Determining the cause of the overheating is necessary. This can be, for
example, due to a flame in the pan, the impeller of the motor is blocked or an
object has entered the outlet opening, causing it to be partially or
completely closed.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the grease filter
There are 1 or 2 metal grease filters in the extractor hood. Depending on the use, it is recommended to clean the filters at least once every 2 weeks.
Access to the grease filter
- The grease filter can be removed by grasping the bottom plate with both hands on the left and right sides and pulling it downwards.
- You can now remove the grease filter by pulling the hook on the filter
- The filter can be cleaned as follows:
- In the dishwasher: let the filter drain first after cleaning. Please note that when cleaning in the dishwasher, the filter can be damaged by the salt content may discolour. This has no effect on the operation.
- Manual: immerse the filter in a solution of boiling water to which a degreasing detergent has been added. Then rinse the filter under the tap with warm water and let it drain.
Important! If the above instructions are not followed, there is a risk of fire
due to excessive contamination.
Maintenance of the extractor hood
Allow the lighting to cool down before cleaning the extractor hood. The
outside of the hood can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do
not use aggressive, scratching or chlorinated products. Maintenance on the
stainless steel can be done with the NOVY stainless steel cleaner (article
number 563-79220).
MOUNTING THE HOOD
- The recommended distance between the hob and the extractor hood is a minimum of 650 mm and a maximum of 700 mm.
- Mounting freely hanging on the wall
- The extractor hood can be mounted directly on the wall by means of a mounting bracket. the supplied metal mounting brackets, plugs and screws.
- Draw a plumb line on the wall at the height of the vertical centerline of the extractor hood. Determine the height from the hob to the bottom of the hood on which you want the hood mounted.
- For the placement of the mounting brackets, see the table on the next page. Pay attention to the correct model number of the extractor hood!
- Mark the drill holes and drill holes in the wall with an 8mm masonry bit in the places that are recessed in the metal mounting brackets. Then place the plugs and screw the mounting bracket on level.
- The extractor hood can now be hung on the mounting brackets. Hook the edges on the back of the hood into the existing edges.
- Make sure that the extractor hood does not tilt forward. The extractor hood should preferably be placed slightly backward (back max. 1 cm lower). At the bottom of the extractor hood are two holes on the left and right, behind which brackets are fitted with a nut. An adjusting screw can be placed in this with which the angle of the hood can be determined.
- To be able to place the adjusting screws, the bottom plate must be removed from the extractor hood. Tilt the bottom plate down towards the wall by pulling it down at the front with two hands. Then press the bottom plate at the hinge points to the left or right so that the hinge pins come out of the hood.
Mounting under a kitchen cabinet
- When mounting under a kitchen cabinet, 4 holes (on the type D 706, D 736, D 739, D 906, D 936, D 939) and 5 holes (on the D 749, D 750, D 949, D 950) are drilled with an 8 mm drill. Measure the mounting holes on the extractor hood and mark them in the cupboard
- With the D 700 series, a recess must be made in the bottom of the box for the motor housing. In the case of the D 900 series, a recess must be made in the bottom of the box when the air is discharged upwards.
- The extractor hood is placed against the underside of the cabinet. The hood is attached to the cabinet with the 4 or 5 bolts.

DRAIN INSTALLATION
The exhaust of the extractor hood must be properly maintained. For optimal functioning of the extractor hood, it is important to pay attention to the following points during installation:
- Use smooth, non-combustible pipes with an internal diameter equal to the external diameter of the hood connection spout. Extend ¬‚exible channels to the maximum and cut them to size.
- Do not reduce the drain diameter. This will reduce the capacity and increase the noise level.
- Make the duct as short as possible and with as few bends outwards as possible.
- Avoid right angles. Use rounded bends for good air flow.
- Flat duct: surface flat duct must be the same size Ø150 mm = 177 cm².
- In the case of drainage through the outer wall, via a cavity wall, care must be taken that the drainage channel completely bridges the cavity and slopes slightly to the outside.
- When connecting to a short exhaust duct, it may be desirable to fit a non-return valve TSKE in the duct to prevent wind ingress.
- Use a hose clamp or aluminum tape for airtight connections.
- When draining through the outer wall, use the outer wall grille type MGE.
- When draining through the roof, use a double-walled roof terminal with sufficient passage.
- Never connect to a flue gas outlet.
- Make sure there is sufficient air supply. Fresh air can be supplied by opening a window or an outside door slightly or by fitting a supply grille.
- 2 ducts Ø125 mm with the D 749/ D 750/ D 949/D 950 can be joined together to 1 duct of Ø125 mm by means of a breech.
