U60-B: Warnings
Caution
- The U60-B LED Array and select components may experience increased surface temperatures during use. Exercise caution to avoid direct skin contact with the LEDs, surrounding metal components, and accessories immediately after use to prevent serious injury.
- Use only with the Westcott U60-B AC Power Adapter and Cord or 14.4/14.8V D-tap Batteries. Incompatible power sources may compromise performance and safety.
- Never leave unsecured and unattended equipment around children and/or pets. Ensure a safe environment by storing the U60-B responsibly.
- Avoid Hazards: Keep Away from Fire, Water, and Moisture Keep the U60-B away from fire, water, and moisture to prevent damage and potential safety hazards.
- Do not submerge the U60-B in water. Exposure to water can cause irreparable damage and pose serious safety risks.
- Avoid drastic temperature changes before, during, or after use to maintain optimal performance. Sudden temperature variations may affect the U60-B’s functionality.
- Exercise care when adjusting the tilter bracket tension knobs. Do not overtighten, as this may lead to damage. Use controlled force during adjustments.
- Ensure Stability Before Use: Ensure the U60-B is securely mounted to prevent accidents. Confirm stability to guarantee a safe operating environment.
- Contact Westcott for Assistance: Do not attempt to modify any Westcott products. For any assistance or modifications, contact Westcott directly to ensure product integrity and safety.
- Operating Temperature Range: The operating temperature range for the U60-B is 32-95ºF (035ºC). Operate within these limits to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
U60-B: Getting Started
Setting Up the U60-B
- Loosen the knob closest to the base of the U60-B tilter bracket.
- Place the U60-B on your preferred light stand or mounting arm, and tighten the knob to secure it.
- Loosen the larger knob and adjust the U60-B’s angle to the preferred position. Tighten the knob to secure it in place.
- Assemble the power cords and AC power supply.
- Insert the barrel plug into the power receptacle located on the lower rear portion of the light.
- Turn the locking nut clockwise to secure to the U60-B. [Note: If the locking nut is difficult to turn, the cable’s barrel may not be fully inserted into the U60-B. Gently press the nut towards the U60-B to secure the connection.]
- Plug the AC power cord into a wall outlet.
Powering On & Off
- Long press the Power button to turn the U60-B on.
- Long press the Power button again to turn the U60-B off.
Adjusting Light Intensity and Color on the Light
- Power the U60-B on.
- Quick press the DIM ∙ CCT button to toggle between Intensity and Color adjustment modes.
- Once the desired mode is selected, it will begin to blink on the display.
- Turn the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the intensity [1-100%] or CCT [3200K5600K].
Using the Remote Control

Insert the remote batteries.

Ensure the U60-B is powered ON.

Adjusting Intensity
a. Press and hold the top button [illuminated bulb symbol] to increase the intensity.
b. Press and hold the bottom button [light bulb icon] to decrease the intensity. -
Adjusting Color
a. Press and hold the left button (sun symbol) to achieve a warmer CCT.
b. Press and hold the right button (snowflake symbol) to achieve a cooler CCT.
U60-B: Assembly & Mounting the Magnetic Modifiers
Magnetic Octa box Assembly
- Face the front of the Octabox downward while grasping the black Octabox adapter ring.
- While firmly holding the adapter ring, select a single Octabox rib and pull it back until it clicks into position.
- Going clockwise, continue to click each rib into place.
- Attach the included front diffusion panel to the front of the Octabox. Attaching the Magnetic
Octabox
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Remove the U60-B Diffusion Dome from the front of the U60-B, exposing the LED array.
- While holding the Octabox, align the opening of the adapter ring with the front of the U60-B.
- Move the adapter ring closer to the front of the U60-B until the magnetic attraction mounts the modifier to the U60-B.
- Confirm the Octabox is aligned and properly mounted before using.
Removing, Collapsing, and Storing the Magnetic Octabox
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before removing the Octabox.
- Firmly grasp the Octabox and pull away from the U60-B. Ensure that the light stand or mounting device does not fall over during this process. [Note: You may find it easier to remove the Octabox by removing the diffusion panel first.]
- With the face of the Octabox facing downward and holding the adapter ring, use your thumbs to simultaneously press two adjacent square release buttons on the adapter ring to release two sections of ribs. Finish collapsing the modifier by simultaneously pressing the remaining two release buttons. [Note: The tension release of the ribs may produce a sound that some may find startling the first time. Please note, this sound is normal.]
- Once collapsed, store at room temperature
Attaching the Magnetic Diffusion Dome
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Grasp the front of the Diffusion Dome and align the dome’s opening with the front of the U60B.
- Move the Diffusion Dome closer to the front of the U60-B until the magnetic attraction mounts the modifier to the U60-B.
- The Diffusion Dome may require a slight turn to ensure the proper mounting.
Removing the Magnetic Diffusion Dome
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before removing the Diffusion Dome.
- Firmly grasp the dome and pull away from the U60-B. Ensure that the light stand or mounting device does not fall over during this process.
Mounting an Umbrella or Umbrella-based Modifier
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Loosen the umbrella receptacle tension screw located on the U60-B tilter bracket.
- Insert the rod of the modifier in the receptacle and tighten the screw to secure it in place.
Removing an Umbrella or Umbrella-based Modifier
- Allow the U60-B to cool for 5 minutes before adding or removing any modifiers.
- Loosen the umbrella receptacle tension screw located on the U60-B tilter bracket.
- Slide the rod of the modifier out of the umbrella receptacle.

- Westcott D-Tap to Barrel Plug Cable (#4908)
Connecting a D-Tap/Power Tap Battery
- Ensure the U60-B is off.
- Unplug the AC adapter from the U60-B.
- Insert the barrel plug of the Westcott D-Tap cable into the power receptacle located on the lower rear portion of the U60-B.
- Plug the D-Tap connector into the battery.
- Power on the battery.
- Press and hold the Power button on the U60-B.
Warranty Information
Westcott’s warranty obligations for this product are limited to the following
terms.
The F.J. Westcott Co. (“Westcott”) warrants this Westcott branded product
against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of
ONE (1) YEAR from the date of retail purchase from Westcott or an
authorized retailer by the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”).
If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period,
at its option and to the extent permitted by law, Westcott will either (1)
repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts,
or (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been
manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally
equivalent to the original product. This Limited Warranty applies only to
products manufactured by or for Westcott that can be identified by the
Westcott trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them.
This warranty does not apply to; (a) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse,
flood, fire, earthquake, mold, or other external causes; (b) damage caused by
operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by
Westcott; (c) a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality
or capability without the written permission of Westcott; or (d) cosmetic
damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents, and broken plastic.
Disclaimer: By purchasing, borrowing, and/or using this product for any
event, both public or private, you, the customer, accepts all responsibility
and releases Westcott, and its associates, of any and all liability in the
event of manufacturer’s defect, malfunction or misuse of the product which
may lead to further injuries or complications unforeseen by the user. Westcott
is not responsible for any potential or incurred damage caused by failure to
properly mount, hang, or store the product, which includes, but is not
limited to damage to cameras, electronics, electrical equipment, buildings,
building materials, personal injury, death, or disability, fire damage, or any
and all other damage not mentioned previously.
Please contact Westcott’s Repair Department for a Return Authorization Number
“RMA” prior to requesting warranty service. This RMA must be clearly written
on the outside of the box to the left of the shipping label. Items sent in
without pre-authorization or that do not fall under the limited warranty will
be returned at the sender’s expense.
