Important Safeguards
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WARNING:

For adult use only. Keep this product away from children.

Intended to be used by consumers in household environment. Do not make medical judgements based on the thermometer reading. Seek medical attention and follow instructions from your health care provider.

Do not touch or blow on the infrared sensor. Keep the sensor clean.
A dirty sensor might lead to incorrect results. -
To clean the sensor and case regularly, wipe gently with cotton balls or a soft cloth dipped in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Do not use toilet paper or tissue, which might scratch the infrared sensors.

Do not measure temperature during or after a hot bath, long exposure to the sun, cold weather, or strenuous exercise, otherwise the reading might be affected.

At the end of the service life of this product, do not discard it in the garbage. Please discard used batteries according to national and local regulations.

Do not disassemble or repair your thermometer.

Do not place or use the thermometer near water, high temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, dust, or corrosion.

Do not take measurements during a sudden change of ambient temperature or in harsh environments.
-
Do not measure temperature on any body part that has inflammation, trauma, or postoperative local lesions.

Do not drop the instrument. Protect it from severe impact and shock.
Do not twist the instrument or the measuring sensor. -
Do not store this thermometer in temperature extremes below -25 °C or over 55 °C (below -13 °F or over 131 °F) or in excessive humidity (above 95% non-condensing relative humidity).

The accuracy of IR thermometers can differ from contact thermometers.
Factors affecting accuracy include operator technique, anatomical variations and subject cooperation. Maintain proper distance and stability during measurements. Consider variations in skin color, thickness, and surface conditions. Ensure subject cooperation and steadiness.

BATTERY WARNING:
This product requires one CR2032 battery (included).
In exceptional circumstances, batteries may leak fluids that can cause a
chemical burn injury or ruin your product. To avoid battery leakage, follow
the instruction below.

Insert the battery in the correct polarity position.

Do not short circuit battery terminals.

Remove the battery during long periods of non-use.
Always remove exhausted battery from product. Dispose of battery properly. -
Use caution when opening battery compartment as battery may leak, explode or catch on fire.

Do not submerge in water or other liquids.
-
Do not dispose of this product in a fire.
The battery inside may explode or leak. -
Contains button or coin cell battery. Hazardous if swallowed.
A swallowed battery can cause internal chemical burns in as little as two hours and lead to death. Dispose of used batteries away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

How to Use
BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove and discard the LCD display protection film and battery-saver.
BEFORE EVERY USE
Check that the infrared sensor is clean and free from damage.
Use in an environment that’s between 59°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C). For best results, ensure that the thermometer and the person to be measured are both in this environment for at least 30 minutes before use.

TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE

Press the power button next to .
The display screen turns on. After 3 seconds, the blue backlight flashes when the thermometer is ready. -
Place the sensor near the forehead.
For best results, the distance from the skin should be less than 3cm (1inch).

Press the side scan button to begin the temperature reading.
-
After 1 second, a beeping sound indicates that the reading is complete. The measured temperature appears on the display.
-
Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off the device. After 30 seconds of inactivity, the power shuts off automatically.
NOTE: To take another temperature reading, wait until the blue backlight
flashes.
To ensure accurate measurements, please avoid hair covering the forehead. If
there are fringes, uncover them and wait for 3 minutes before taking the
measurement.
Use in an environment that’s between 59°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C).
SWITCH BETWEEN FAHRENHEIT AND CELSIUS
- While the power is on, double press the power button to switch between °C and °F.
VIEW PREVIOUS READINGS

With the power off, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.
-
Release the button when the LCD displays 3 dashes.
-
Press the power button to step through previous readings.
-
Press and hold the power button again for 3 seconds to turn the unit off.
HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERY
-
When the “low battery” symbol appears on the display, replace the CR2032 coin battery.
-
Use a #1 Philips-head screwdriver (included) to remove the battery cover.
-
Pull the battery out using your fingers or with an insulated tool.
-
Insert a new battery into the compartment.
Match the correct + and – polarity.
-
Screw the battery cover back on.
-
Discard the used battery according to local environmental regulations.
TROUBLESHOOTING
-
If nothing shows on the display after turning the power on:
a. Check the battery. If the battery is depleted, replace with a fresh CR2032 3VDC button cell battery.
b. Check if the battery is inserted correctly. Pull the battery out and make sure battery polarity matches the battery compartment + and – polarity.
c. If the internal circuit is damaged, the unit must be returned to Munchkin for after-sales service. -
If the temperature reading is not functioning:
a. Retry after 1 minute.
b. Check if the sensor head is dirty. Use a cotton swab or soft cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the sensor.
c. If the sensor is damaged or scratched, please contact Munchkin for repair.
d. Measurement might be done incorrectly, please read the manual carefully. -
If the display shows “HH” or “LL”:
The system detected that the ambient temperature exceeds the normal operating range of the device. The measurement should be done in an environment between 59°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C), and the device should be placed in such an environment for 30 minutes before use. -
If the display shows “HI”:
The target temperature is above the measurement limit of the device. -
If the display shows “LO”:
The target temperature is below the measurement limit of the device.
It might also indicate low voltage. Please replace the battery.
The functions of the thermometer may be adversely affected if the above circumstances occur.

This thermometer is an adjusted mode thermometer that provides an oral
equivalent reading.
This infrared thermometer meets requirements established in ASTM Standard E
1965-98 (for the thermometer system). Full responsibility for the conformance
of the product to the standard is assumed by Munchkin, Inc., 7835 Gloria
Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91406, USA.
ASTM laboratory accuracy requirements, for the thermometer only in the display
range of 96.8 °F to 102.2 °F (36 °C to 39°C) for infrared thermometers is ±0.5
°F (±0.3 °C), whereas for mercury-in-glass and electronic thermometers, the
requirement per ASTM Standards E 667-86 and E 1112-86 is ±0.2 °F (±0.1 °C).

Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment should be avoided because it could result in improper operation. If such use is necessary, this equipment and other equipment should be observed to verify that they are operating normally.

The use of accessories, transducers and cables other than those specified or provided by manufacturer of this equipment could result in increased electromagnetic emissions or decreased electromagnetic immunity of this equipment and result in improper operation.

Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals such as antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the product.
Otherwise, degradation of the performance of this equipment could result. -
If the use location is near (e.g. less than 1.5 km from) AM, FM or TV broadcast antennas, before using this equipment, it should be observed to verify that it is operating normally to assure that the equipment remains safe with regard to electromagnetic disturbances throughout the expected service life.
