B1021 – Serial interface board with
B1022 – B1023 – B1027 thermostats

Removing the front cover
To remove the front cover from the unit start by removing the back shoulder
section by prying up to get access to the screws underneath. Remove the 2
screws one left and one right to remove the front shoulder piece.
Remove the bottom pull out tray and bar below supply air to get access to the
final 6 screws to remove the cover.
Remove access panel in upper right corner. 
Here you
will find B1021 interface board installation location
Remove electrical compartment cover. This is where we will be mounting the
transformer and making connections.
Mount transformer as shown
below.
Mount the B1021 interface board
with screws provided.
Wire 120V side to terminal strip L1-L2
Run the 24v side of transformer though chase at top of electrical box and
around the left side of unit to the accessory board. This is also a good time
to run the grey communication cable that is supplied with B1021 interface
board.
The unit will internally interpret the
high speed fan signal (Y2/W2) to increase the compressor hertz from 50-60Hz to
70-90Hz Dip switches should be in the ELEC, RV=B, HP position to allow for
proper delays and fan operation. Delays can be as long as 10 minutes after
compressor turns off depending on stat model.
Sequence Of Operation Using B1021 after it receives a 24 vac signal at the
following terminals:
Y1 – 1st stage cooling, fan at low speed (950rpm) and compressor running at 65
to 70 Hz
Y1 & B – 1st stage heating, fan at low speed and compressor running at 50 to
60 Hz
Y2 & Y1 – 2nd stage cooling, fan at high speed (1330rpm) and compressor
running at 70 to 90 Hz W2 & Y1 & B – 2nd stage heating, fan at high speed
(1330rpm) and compressor running at 70 to 90 Hz FAN ONLY MODE is not
available
Plug comm. molex cable into X3 slot labeled on/off on B1021 interface board.
Wire in low voltage plug according to the wiring diagram and plug into board.
Remove comm. molex plug coming from control board to the slot at bottom of the
electrical compartment. 
Connect comm. molex cables
Route the thermostat wire from B1021 board through the chase and electrical
compartment and exit the unit through the hole left by removing comm. cable in
previous slide. Reinstall unit’s cabinet shell and feed wire out.
Reinstall
bottom sliding panel and there is a knockout on the backside for wire to exit
the unit.
