Install EVGA CLCx
Backplate Installation
Install the mounting backplate part H on the back of the motherboard if you
are using an Intel LGA 17XX, 12XX or 115X socket motherboard. Slide the
standoffs to line up with the cooler mounting holes on your motherboard.
*Please skip this step for AMD motherboards as you will use the existing motherboard’s backplate.
Standoffs
Next, screw the standoff into the backplate. Fasten the standoffs to the
backplate you installed in the previous step for LGA 12XX / 115X motherboards
C part and LGA 17XX motherboards part D.
For AMD platforms, remove the stock AMD mounting bracket, keep the original
backplate. After aligning the collars, screw in the standoff to the collars
and stock AMD Backplate E.
*The collars have marked “AM5” and “AM4” on each side, facing up the correct side of collars according your AMD platform.
C Intel LGA 12XX / 115X Standoff (M3 thread)
D Intel LGA 17XX Standoff (M3 thread)
E AM5/AM4 Standoff (UNC 6-32 thread) & Collar x4
Retention Ring
Make sure the correct retention ring is installed on the pump / cooler. Both
Intel and AMD retention rings are included with your CLCx, with the Intel ring
preinstalled.
Intel Retention Bracket LGA 17XX / 12XX / 115X (Pre-installed)
F AMD Retention Bracket AM5 / AM4
G To change the retention ring, push down on ring and turn counter-clockwise
to remove the ring from the pump.
Pump Installation
Thermal paste is pre-applied to the contact surface of the pump. Install the
pump by aligning the mounting holes on the retention ring with the standoffs
and lower the pump evenly over the CPU. Secure the retention ring using screw
nuts part I.
Fans and Radiator Installation
Install fans and radiator according to your system setup and airflow design.
Use screws to attach the fan to the radiator, use screws to attach the
radiator to the case, and hex key to fasten the screws. EVGA recommends that
the pump should always be below the highest point of the radiator.
*Warning – The CLCx Cooler is not a passive cooler. Fans must be installed to the radiator for proper operation of the CLCx Cooler, and failure L to do so may cause irreparable damage to the pump and other connected hardware.
Install fans and radiator according to your system setup and airflow design.
Use screws J and fan washers to attach the fan to the radiator, use screws to
attach the radiator to the case, and hex key to
fasten the screws.
EVGA recommends that the pump should always be below the highest point of the
radiator.
*Warning – The CLCx Cooler is not a passive cooler. Fans must be installed to the radiator for proper operation of the CLCx Cooler, and failure to do so may cause irreparable damage to the pump and other connected hardware.
Install LCD Cap
Align the hooked tab and 3 raised circles below LCD cap to the 3 indents on
top of the pump, then gently press down the LCD cap into the latch to secure
it.
Install the USB cable to enable PWM-tuning via CLCx software. Connect the
cable from the LCD Panel to the USB 2.0 front panel header on your
motherboard.
Push the latch to remove the LCD Cap
*Warning – Removing the LCD Cap while your system is running may cause irrepairable CLCx damage.
Cable Connections
The LCD display orientation can be rotated via “EVGA CLCx” software.
Cable Connections
The CLCx includes additional cables, part and required for RGB and fan control
through the CLCx software.
Connect cable part to the CLCx, then connect the SATA power cable to the SATA
power cable from your power supply.
Connect the MB Fan PWM to the 4pin CPU_FAN or AIO_PUMP header on your
motherboard.
Connect cable part to the Fan PWM on cable part then connect the fans to each
of the connectors on cable part .
Connect each of the ARGB from the fans to each other and then connect the end
to the Fan ARGB on cable part .
