These submersible pumps are designed to be used in the following applications:

Draining of cisterns, rainwater reservoirs, wells, ponds, swimming pools, storm drains, flooded cellars, boats and yachts.

They are only for use with water and not chemicals or other substances that could damage the internal seals etc.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

Connecting to the power supply:

These SIP water pumps are fitted with a standard 230v ~ 13 amp type domestic plug.
Before using the pump, inspect the mains lead and plug to ensure that neither are damaged. If any damage is visible have the pump inspected / repaired by a suitably qualified person. If it is necessary to replace the plug a heavy duty impact resistant plug would be preferable.

The wires for the plug are coloured in the following way:
Yellow / green Earth
Blue Neutral
Brown Live

As the colours of the wires may not correspond with the markings in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured blue, must be connected to the terminal marked with N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown, must be connected to the terminal, which is marked L or coloured red. The wire which is coloured yellow / green should be connected to the terminal which is coloured the same or marked

Always secure the wires in the plug terminal carefully and tightly. Secure the cable in the cord grip carefully.

| Warning: The water pump should be fitted with an RCD (residual current device), or similar, to ensure the power is cut should any problems occur.
---|---
| Warning: Never connect live or neutral wires to the earth terminal of the plug. Only fit an approved plug with the correct rated fuse. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician.
| Note: Always make sure the mains supply is of the correct voltage and the correct fuse protection is used. In the event of replacing the fuse always use a fuse of the same value as the original.
| Note: If an extension lead is required in order to reach the mains supply; ensure that this too is rated for the correct voltage and fuse rating. The cross section of the extension lead should be checked so that it is of sufficient size so as to reduce the chances of voltage drops.

INSTALLATION / OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

| Warning: The water pump should be fitted with an RCD (residual current device), or similar, to ensure the power is cut should any problems occur.
---|---

When installing, please ensure your SIP submersible pump is disconnected from electrical supply to prevent possible injury to people and / or damage dueto un-wanted start up.

  • Fit the pipe over the outlet adaptor (see below).

  • Secure with the relevant pipe clip, or, similar.

  • Lower the pump into the water, do not use the mains lead or float switch to lower the pump beyond reach.

  • Use rope or similar around the handle of the stainless steal version, or, through the submersing ring (D) for the plastic versions (see below).

If you need to shorten the length of the float switch in order to control the depth at which it cuts the power to the pump:

  • Stainless version: Loosen the retaining screw and slide the float switch to the desired position. Re-tighten the screw to secure.
  • Plastic version: Hook the float switch lead into the float switch slot (E) and slide to the desired length.

See page 10 for images.

Once everything is set, simply turn the mains switch to the on position and the pump will start to run.

MAINTENANCE

The pump is mainly maintenance free, you may need, from time to time to clear the impellor of any unwanted waste / debris. Always ensure that the mains lead is removed from the power supply before all maintenance operations.

Stainless steal version:
  • Remove the 6 retaining screws from around the pump body.
  • Split the pump and rinse with clean water to remove debris.
  • Rejoin the pump and fully secure with the 6 screws, take care that the seal
  • is seated correctly
Plastic version:
  • Remove the diffuser retaining screws.
  • Remove the diffuser.
  • Rinse with clean water to remove debris.
  • Re-fit the diffuser and secure with the retaining screws.
