Product Information

Specifications

  • Model: MAD31FHLX

Introduction and Considerations
The MADRID Fan Heater, Light and Exhaust unit is designed for installation in bathrooms. It is important to note the following considerations:

  • The unit must be installed by a registered electrician and comply with all current Australian and New Zealand electrical and building regulations.
  • The power supply cable must be suitably rated to handle the total load on the circuit.
  • Do not install the unit in a location where there is a possibility of water splashing into the heater.

Ventilation Requirements
In order for the exhaust fan to work efficiently, replacement air of a volume equivalent to what is being extracted must be able to enter the room. Here are some guidelines:

  • Air should ideally be drawn under the door (with a 20mm undercut) or through a slightly open window or room.
  • If the room is airtight, the fan may operate poorly.
  • The airflow path should pass over the steam source for optimal performance.

Clearance Requirements
It is important to maintain proper clearance around the MADRID Fan Heater, Light and Exhaust unit to prevent overheating or fire. Here are the recommended clearance distances:

  • Minimum mounting height: 2.1 meters above the floor.
  • Minimum distance from vertical walls: 250mm.

Installation Instructions

  1. Mounting: Ensure the area behind the installation location is clear of cables, pipes, joists, or hidden utilities. Use the provided template to mark and cut a hole in the ceiling, ensuring sufficient space for the clamping arms to operate. The gap between the clamping arm and lip of the body should be slightly larger than the thickness of the ceiling.
  2. Wiring: Remove the rear terminal cover and connect wires according to the wiring diagram provided. Refit the terminal cover. Note: Connect ducting (if required) after the unit is installed in the ceiling.
  3. Insertion: Gently insert the unit into the cut-out hole, moving the side clamping arms inwards to allow the body to pass through without damaging the plasterboard. Rotate all six clamping arms out using the levers, then gently tighten the six screws to clamp and secure the unit.
  4. LED Panel: Connect the LED panel power connector.
  5. Fascia Attachment: Attach the fascia to the body, aligning the HEATER marking on the inside of the fascia with the HEATER marking on the HFL body. Tighten screws, avoiding overtightening. Do not use an electric drill or impact driver.
  6. Ducting: Attach ducting to extract the air to the soffit or outer wall using the provided 3m long flexible ducting, duct clamp, and vent outlet grille. Fix and tighten the duct clamp firmly to hold the flexible duct to the unit and the outer wall vent. To maximize airflow, cut the duct to size as required, ensuring it is in a fully expanded state with minimal bends or corners.
