Using the Coffee Machine

  1. Lift the lid (1) using the tab at the front of the lid.

  2. Fill the water tank (3) with the desired amount of water. Attention! Do not fill above the MAX level.
Note: Use cold water. We recommend using filtered water as it reduces lime scale and prolongs the life of your coffee maker. Never use ware or frizzy water.

  3. Fit either the permanent filter (7) supplied or a paper filter into the filter holder (8).
Note: Ensure the filter holder (8) is positioned correctly.

  4. Add the coffee using the spoon supplied (13) (approximately 1 level spoon (7gr.) per cup).

  5. Close the lid (1) and put the carafe (11) on the plate (6).

  6. If you want to adjust the strength of the coffee, press “STRENGTH” button (17), otherwise go to step “7”. You have 3 options:

    • REG: Default setting for regular coffee strength.
    • BOLD: The BOLD setting adjusts the brewing cycle of a full pot of coffee. It allows more time for the coffee to “boil” to extract the oils and coffee flavor. This results in a pot of coffee with strong aromas and taste.
    • 1-4 CUPS: Recommended for preparing small amounts of coffee (1-4 cups) with maximum flavor.
  7. If you want the temperature to be maintained after the coffee has been brewed, you must set the “KEEP WARM” function: To set, follow the steps below, otherwise proceed to step “8”.

    • Press the “KEEP WARM” button (18). The display will show “KEEP WARM” and 0:00 will flash.
    • Press the “MINUTE” button successively to select the time you want your coffee to be kept warm. Options are 0, 15 & 30 minutes.
Note: If you do not want the appliance to go into KEEP WARM mode, make sure the time is set to “0:00”.
Note: If coffee brewing starts you cannot set the KEEP WARM function. You should switch off the appliance by pressing the BREW/OFF button (21), activate the KEEP WARM function and start the coffee brewing function by pressing the BREW/OFF button (21) again.

    • The operating process can be stopped at any time by pressing the BREW/OFF button (21). The operation indicator and the display (14) will turn off. The appliance will restart the process by pressing the BREW/OFF button (21) once.
Note: You can take out the carafe, pour and serve at any time. The coffee maker will stop dripping automatically for 30 seconds.
If you have activated the KEEP WARM mode:

    • Once the process is complete, a sound will be heard 3 times, the “BREW/OFF” indication light (15) will remain on. The display will show “TIME SINCE BREW” and “0:00”. The appliance will start counting the temperature retention time you have selected.

    • As soon as the temperature maintenance time is finished, a sound will be heard 2 times, the “BREW/OFF” indication light (15) and the “TIME SINCE BREW” indication will turn off. The appliance will turn off.

    • If you have not activated the KEEP WARM function:

    • When the coffee brewing cycle is complete, the power indication light and the display will turn off. Remove the carafe from the plate at least one minute after the coffee has finished brewing. When the jug is empty, switch off and unplug the appliance.
Note: The amount of brewed coffee after the brewing process will always be slightly less than the amount of water placed into the coffee maker, since some water is absorbed by the coffee ground or evaporates. Add a little extra water at the beginning so that you end up with the exact number of cups desired.
      Note:

    • If you have not used the appliance for a while, run one full tank of water (without coffee) through to clean it out

Tips for Great-Tasting Coffee

A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee maker as specified in the “Cleaning and Maintenance” paragraph.

  • Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker.
  • Fine-cut coffee ensures better filtration, intense aroma and rich flavor. If the coffee is not grinded well enough, add more coffee per cup to ensure the same taste performance.
  • Keep coffee in a cool and dry place. When you open the package of coffee, keep tightly closed in refrigerator to keep the freshness.
  • For optimal result, buy whole coffee beans and grind them just before the filtering process.
  • Do not use the same coffee for the second time, as this would destroy its aroma.
  • It is not recommended reheating coffee. Coffee has the maximum aroma, immediately after preparation.
  • Small oil stains on the surface of the filtered coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the coffee beans. The oil may also be due to the heavy roast of the coffee.

Descaling

Descaling your coffee machine is recommended at least once a month, depending on the frequency of use and the hardness of the water. If the water in your area is particularly hard, the following cleaning procedure should be done every 2 weeks, otherwise it may reduce the intensity of the coffee flavor and lengthen the brewing time. We recommend cleaning your coffee maker once a month.

  1. Mix 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in the carafe.
  2. Pour the mixture into the water tank (3).
  3. Place a paper filter on the filter base (8) and place the permanent filter (7) on top.
  4. Close the lid (1) and place the empty carafe (11) on the plate (6).
  5. Simultaneously press and hold the HOUR (19) and MINUTE (20) keys until a “beep” is heard and the display shows “CLEAN”.
  6. Press the BREW/OFF button (21). A “beep” will be heard and the power indication light will turn on.
  7. Once the cleaning cycle is complete the power indication light will turn off and a beep will be heard.
  8. Discard the vinegar and water mixture.
  9. Repeat the brewing cycle 2-3 times with cold water before brewing coffee again.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Always switch off, unplug and allow to cool before cleaning.

  • Don’t wash parts of the appliance in the dishwasher

  • Clean all removable parts of the device after each use with warm soapy water.

  • Clean the outer parts of the device with a soft, damp cloth.
CAUTION: Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

  • Do not clean the inside of the water tank with a cloth while may cause remnants of the fabric fibers and clog the coffee maker.

  • For intense stains, use a synthetic sponge with a light detergent. Do not use wire and abrasive cleaners.

  • Water droplets may be created in the region over the filter holder and drip onto the base of the product during operation. Wipe the area with a clean, dry cloth after each use of the device.

  • Use a damp cloth to gently wipe the plate. Never use abrasive detergents for cleaning.

Descaling

  1. Buy a suitable descaler from a supermarket.
  2. Please follow the instructions indicated on the packaging of the descaler to descale the machine.
  3. After descaling, run the coffee machine, at least three times with full tanks of water (without coffee), to clean it out.
