HBXBX Air Handlers
RE: Filter applications for 60 series HB air handlers with ECM motors
It has come to our attention that we have shipped HBXBX and VHBX model air
handlers with a Merv 10 filter installed from the factory. In certain
applications, with this high density Merv 10 filter, the unit may not achieve
the certified air flow.
We recommend to achieve the certified ratings, that all units be changed to a
Merv 3/4 standard filter. This can be done during installation or at the next
filter change required.
For more specific application data on Merv 8 – 13 filters, I would refer you
to the following publications:

These two publications have more detailed application data for where Merv 8 –
13 filters can be applied based on surface area and air flow requirements.
