HOW TO USE

HOW TO MAKE WAFFLES

  1. With the Waffle Plates installed, ensure the unit is on a flat, stable & heat resistant surface. Close the cover and plug the unit into a 120V AC outlet. The red indicator light will illuminate. The red indicator light will remain on until the unit has reached cooking temperature. Thereafter, it will cycle on and off as the unit maintains the correct temperature.
  2. When the unit has preheated, and the red indicator light goes out, you are ready to cook.
  3. Open the lid and pour 1/3 to 1/2 cup of batter into the center of the lower Waffle Plate. Close the Cover. DO NOT LOCK THE HANDLE LOCK DURING COOKING. Locking the handle lock will prevent the waffles from rising.
  4. The waffles take approximately 4 minutes or until there is no more steam escaping. Do not open the Waffle Maker during the first 3 minutes of cooking.
  5. When the waffles are cooked, carefully open the waffle maker and remove them, making sure never to touch the cooking surface with sharp, pointed or metal objects. This could damage the non-stick surface. To remove waffles, use heat resistant plastic or wood utensils.

WAFFLE BAKING TIPS

  1. Do not over mix the batter or waffles will be tough. Stir batter only until large lumps of dry ingredients disappear.
  2. The optimal amount of batter to produce a full-shaped waffle, without overflowing, will vary with different waffle  batters. Pouring batter from a measuring cup will help you gauge how much batter to use each time. Fill bottom grid of waffle maker with enough batter to cover peak areas of the grid about ¾ to 1 cup.
  3. For more evenly shaped waffles, spread thick batters to outer edge of grid, using a heat proof rubber spatula or other non-metallic utensil before closing the lid.
  4. Waffles can be baked and frozen for future consumption. Prepare according to the recipe and cool on a rack for approximately 10 minutes. Store in your freezer for up to 2 weeks.
  5. Waffles can be heated by toasting in a toaster or toaster oven.
  6. Unused batter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  7. NEVER lock the handle lock during the cooking process.

NOTE

  • When your waffle maker is heated for the first time, it may emit slight smoke or odor. This is normalwith many heating appliances and does not affect the safety of your appliance.
  • However, it may affect the flavor of the first set of waffles prepared in your waffle maker, and it is recommended to discard these.
  • All parts of the unit, except the handle, will be very hot during  and after cooking. Do not touch any parts  of the unit, except the handle, until the unit has cooled.
  • ALWAYS use protective, heat resistant gloves or  mitts when opening  and closing the unit to  avoid steam or other burns.

HOW TO MAKE SANDWICHES

  1. With the Sandwich/Grill Plates installed, ensure the unit is on a flat, stable & heat resistant surface.
  3. Open the cover and place the sandwich on the bottom Sandwich Cooking Plate. NOTE: If the sandwich is too thick, flatten down before placing in the unit. NOTE: DO NOT FORCE THE LID CLOSED IF SANDWICHES ARE TOO THICK.
  4. Close and secure the Handle Lock.
  5. The cooking time will depend on the type and thickness of bread and the desired amount of doneness.
  6. When the sandwich is cooked, carefully remove making sure never to touch the cooking surface with sharp, pointed or metal objects. This could damage the non-stick surface. To remove sandwich, use heat resistant plastic or wood utensils.

HELPFUL TIPS

  1. Always preheat the Sandwich Maker before using.
  2. Select bread that will fit the Cooking Plates.
  3. Use approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup of filling for each sandwich.
  4. The Cooking Plates have a non-stick coating, so a non-stick cooking spray is not required.

HOW TO GRILL

  1. With the Sandwich/Grill Plates installed, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Close the cover and plug the unit into a 120V AC outlet. The red indicator light will illuminate. The red indicator light will remain on until the unit has reached cooking temperature. Thereafter, it will cycle on and off as the unit maintains the correct temperature.
  2. When the unit has preheated, and the green indicator light goes out, you are ready to cook.
  3. Open the grill and place food on the Grill Plate. Close the lid and press down gently.
    • NOTE: Use boneless meat and poultry for even browning.
  4. The Grill should only be used with the lid closed. DO NOT lock the Handle Lock during cooking.
  5. Grill until meat is fully cooked and safe to consume. Check progress about every 2 – 3 minutes as the food is cooking rapidly both from the top and bottom.
  6. When finished grilling, unplug the Grill and remove food using heat resistant plastic or wood utensils.

NOTE

  • All parts of the unit, except the handle, will be very hot during and after cooking. Do not touch any parts of the unit, except the  handle, until the unit  has cooled. ALWAYS use protective, heat resistant gloves or mitts when opening and closing the unit to avoid steam or other burns.
  • Do not cut food on the non-stick Grill Plates.
  • DO NOT cook ground beef or other meats that create excessive amount of runoff juices. This unit does not have a drip tray  and in not designed to facilitate this type of cooking.

CLEANING THE PLATES

  1. The Cooking Plates can only be changed when the unit is completely cooled/cold.
  2. To change the Cooking Plates, open the lid so that the Cooking Plates are facing you. To remove the top Cooking  Plate, place your hands around the sides of the unit and use your thumbs to slide the tab upward.
