C18 Multiuser Wall Control
- With the C18 Multiuser Wall Control, commands (IR triggers) can be sent to the multiuser system, which are stored in the multiuser server. The function is defined in the configurator itself. In addition, different behavior can be defined between a short and long key press.
- Using the integrated IR receiver (left of the power button), infrared codes (RC5) can be received from IR remote controls and forwarded to the multiuser system for IR triggers.
- Using the DIL switches on the back of the wall keyboard, different RC5 addresses can be selected in case there are IR conflicts with other remote controls/devices.

** RC5 code is combined with the current user/source address, i.e. if user 2
(address 21) was last selected, for example the volume_up command is also
given address 21 and an RC5 command [21] [16] is sent.
Control RC 5 commands
The multiuser amplifier M30 or V219 offers control over the set RC5 code in its display. With its setup button, the infrared mode can be selected, which detects received signals from the IR link input and displays its RC5 address and command:

DIL switch
With the introduction of SW version 218-2 1.00 (Multiuser Programmer Software)
there is a code page option for the C18 Multiuser Wall Control. 4 different
code pages can be selected using DIL switches 3 and 4 on the back of the C18
wall keyboard. To do this, remove the wall control and remove the plastic
cover the back. The desired code page can now be set with a small screwdriver.
When the cover is open, please observe the common ESE regulations in order not
to damage the electronics.

cabling
The C18 wall control is connected to the multiuser amplifier via a 3-pin screw
connector. When wiring, make sure that with a CAT cable (S/FTP, F/FTP) the
shielding is connected to the GND line on both sides. In addition, a pair of
wires should be connected together for a signal. Both measures increase the
cable cross-section and thus reduce the voltage drop in the cable. With this
cabling variant, cable lengths of up to 100 m can be achieved. Alternatively,
a data cable of type U72 (1x4x0.5 mm2) can also be used.
Parallel connection
For larger rooms, it may make sense to place two C18 wall keyboards in
different places in the room. 2 C18s can be operated in parallel, i.e. all 3
signal lines (GND, IR, VCC) are connected in parallel.
To avoid double commands when using remote controls if both wall keyboards
could receive the IR signal, it is recommended to deactivate the IR receiver
on one of the two C18 wall controls. This is set via a DIL switch (DIL 1) on
the back of the wall keyboard – see illustration above.
The IR link, including the trigger out of the multiuser amplifier, may be
loaded with a maximum of 80 mA. The nominal current requirement of a C18 at 23
mA.
