TESTING YOUR WALK-IN BATHTUB BEFORE INSTALLATION

All bathtubs are 100% water tested at the factory and have passed inspection. Transportation and mishandling may loosen fittings and cause leaks. It is therefore necessary to test the bathtub while there is access to all sides of the bath.

  1. This unit should be both static and operationally tested with water. It is best to test the unit outside by filling with a garden hose.
1.1. Place the bathtub on a completely flat surface in an area where it may be drained after testing.
1.2. Install th e door lever on the door that can be found inside the bathtub part’s box .
1.3. Seal the drain hole (Use the drain plug in the part’s box) and fill the bathtub with approximately 8″ of water.
1.4. Verify drain plunger opens and closes freely.
1.5. Fill the bathtub to top of seat level.
    1.6. Repeat 1.4.
1.7. Fill the bathtub with water to the overflow.
    1.8. Repeat 1.4.

  2. Allow the water to stand in bathtub for 2 hours and then inspect all plumbing and seals for leaks.

  3. Using appropriately rated three-prong extension cords, plugged in to separate outlets, operate the whirlpool pump for another 30 minutes and inspect for leaks again.

  4. Inspect the unions around the whirlpool pump. The whirlpool pump is connected by unions. If a leak persists at a union after tightening, it may have been over-tightened or might have a displaced O-ring. Disassemble it and make sure the O-ring was seated properly.

  5. Ensure that all jets are open and working, some hydro jets are adjustable for both flow rate and direction of flow. The jet flow rate is adjusted by turning either the water mixture control clockwise or counterclockwise. Some hydro jets are not adjustable direction of flow where located at the seat back.

  6. If there are leaks, mark the spot(s), drain and repair with GE Silicone Sealer (fiber glass to PVC) or PVC cement (PVC to PVC). Repeat test when dry.

⚠ Check to ensure that your installation will conform to all applicable codes and secure necessary permits. All electrical and plumbing connections should be made by qualified electricians and plumbers.
? Failure to perform these tests before installation will make the installer liable for future repair costs.
