Safety Guidelines

The DJITM MAVICTM 3 Enterprise Series is NOT a toy and is NOT suitable for children.

  1. Environmental Considerations
    • Avoid flying in areas with magnetic or radio interference, buildings, other obstacles, or near large crowds.
    • DO NOT take off from an altitude more than 6,000 m (19,685 ft) above sea level.
    • DO NOT fly the aircraft in temperatures below -10° C (14° F) or above 40° C (104° F).
    • DO NOT fly in unauthorized areas. Refer to the Regulations & Flight Restrictions section for more information.
    • Some aircraft features may be limited due to insufficient lighting, no GNSS signal, or lack of space when flying indoors. Take additional care.
    • DO NOT use the aircraft in severe weather conditions including heavy wind exceeding 12 m/s, snow, rain, fog, hail, or lightning.

  2. Pre-Flight Checklist
    • Make sure the remote controller and the aircraft batteries are fully charged, and the intelligent flight battery is installed firmly.
    • Make sure the propellers are securely mounted and not damaged or deformed, there are no foreign objects in or on the motors or propellers, and the propeller blades and arms are unfolded.
    • Make sure the lenses of the vision systems, cameras, the glass of the infrared sensors, and the auxiliary lights are clean, free of stickers, and not blocked in any way.
    • Make sure to remove the gimbal protector before powering on the aircraft.
    • Make sure the covers of the microSD card slot, and the PSDK port have been closed properly.
    • Make sure the remote controller antennas are adjusted to the proper position.
    • Make sure DJI PILOTTM 2 and the aircraft firmware have been updated to the latest version.
    • Power on the aircraft and the remote controller. Make sure the status LED on the remote controller and the battery level indicators on the aircraft are solid green. This indicates that the aircraft and the remote controller are linked and the remote controller is in control of the aircraft.
    • Make sure your flight area is outside any GEO zones and flight conditions are suitable for flying the aircraft. Place the aircraft on open and flat ground. Make sure there are no obstacles, buildings, or trees nearby, and that the aircraft is 5 m away from the pilot. The pilot should be facing the rear of the aircraft.
    • To ensure flight safety, enter the camera view of DJI Pilot 2 and check the parameters on the pre-flight checklist such as the failsafe settings, control stick mode, RTH height, and obstacle distance. It is recommended to set the out-of-control action to RTH.
    • Make sure DJI Pilot 2 is properly opened to assist your operation of the aircraft. WITHOUT THE FLIGHT DATA RECORDED BY THE DJI PILOT 2 APP, IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS (INCLUDING THE LOSS OF YOUR AIRCRAFT) DJI MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE AFTERSALES SUPPORT TO YOU OR ASSUME LIABILITY.
    • Divide the airspace for a flight when multiple aircraft are operating simultaneously in order to avoid collision mid-air.

  3. Operation
    • DO NOT start the motors before unfolding the arms. Otherwise, the aircraft may be damaged.
    • DO NOT touch the battery buckles while holding the aircraft to avoid it loosening.
    • Stay away from the rotating propellers and motors.
    • Maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) of the aircraft at all times.
    • DO NOT answer incoming calls, or messages, or perform any action on your mobile device that may distract you from controlling the aircraft during flight. DO NOT fly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    • DO NOT fly close to reflective surfaces such as water or snow, as these types of terrain may affect the performance of the vision systems. When the GNSS signal is weak, limit flying the aircraft to environments with good lighting and visibility.
    • Land the aircraft in a safe location when there is a low battery or high wind warning.
    • The aircraft cannot avoid obstacles during RTH when there is insufficient light. Use the remote controller to control the speed and altitude of the aircraft to avoid collisions during RTH when the remote controller signal is normal.
    • After landing, stop the motors, power off the aircraft, and turn off the remote controller. Otherwise, the aircraft may enter Failsafe RTH automatically due to remote controller signal loss.
    • Pay attention and control the aircraft at all times during the flight. DO NOT rely only on the vision systems and DJI Pilot 2. Safety and flight assistance features are meant to assist the pilot, not replace their control of the aircraft. Environmental conditions such as lighting and the surface texture of obstacles may impact the performance of the vision system. Intelligent flight control features such as precision landing and obstacle avoidance are disabled when the vision system functions are impaired. Keep the aircraft within VLOS and pay close attention to its flight. Use sound discretion to operate the aircraft and manually avoid obstacles in a timely manner. It is important to set an appropriate failsafe and RTH altitude before each flight.
    • DO NOT expose the infrared camera lenses to strong sources of energy such as the sun, lava, or a laser beam. Otherwise, the camera sensor may be burned leading to permanent damage.
    • Make sure that the accessories are correctly and securely mounted on the aircraft before use. Otherwise, they may fall from the aircraft during flight.
    • DO NOT point the beacon directly into the eye.
    • DO NOT use the speaker near people or in an urban area where noise-sensitive structures are concentrated as the loudness could lead to accidents or injuries.

The following terms are used throughout the product literature to indicate various levels of potential harm when operating this product:

Battery Safety Notice
WARNING:

  1. DO NOT allow liquid to come into contact with the batteries. DO NOT leave batteries covered in moisture or out in the rain. DO NOT drop the batteries into water. Otherwise, an explosion or fire may occur.
  2. DO NOT use non-DJI batteries. It is recommended to use DJI chargers.
  3. DO NOT use swollen, leaking, or damaged batteries. In such situations, contact DJI or a DJI-authorized dealer.
  4. The batteries should be used at a temperature between -10° and 40° C (14° and 104° F). A high temperature can cause an explosion or fire. A low temperature will reduce the performance of a battery.
  5. DO NOT disassemble or pierce the battery in any way.
  6. The electrolytes in the battery are highly corrosive. If any electrolytes come into contact with your skin or eyes, immediately wash the affected area with water and seek medical support.
  7. Keep the batteries out of the reach of children and animals.
  8. DO NOT use a battery if it is involved in a crash or heavy impact.
  9. Extinguish any battery fire using water, sand, or a dry powder fire extinguisher.
  10. DO NOT charge the battery immediately after the flight. The battery temperature may be too high and may cause serious damage to the battery. Allow the battery to cool down to close to room temperature before charging. Charge the battery at a temperature range of 5° to 40° C (41° to 104° F). The ideal charging temperature range is 22° to 28° C (72° to 82° F). Charging at the ideal temperature range can prolong battery life.
  11. DO NOT leave the batteries near heat sources such as a furnace or heater, under direct sunlight, or inside a vehicle in hot weather.
  12. DO NOT store the battery for an extended period after fully discharging. Otherwise, the battery may over-discharge and cause irreparable damage to the battery cell.
  13. If a battery with a low power level has been stored for an extended period, the battery will enter deep hibernation mode. Recharge the battery to bring it out of hibernation.
  14. Regularly check the battery level indicators to see the current battery level. The battery is rated for 200 cycles. It is not recommended to continue use after 200 cycles.

Functional Parts Requirements

  1. Make sure there are no foreign objects such as water, oil, soil, or sand inside the aircraft or its components. Ports such as the PSDK port must be closed firmly if not used.
  2. DO NOT modify or alter the aircraft, its components, or parts. Unauthorized modification may cause malfunctions and affect the functionality and safety of the aircraft.
  3. Make sure when installing any external devices that the total weight of the aircraft does not exceed the maximum takeoff weight. In addition, the external device must be installed in a location so that the center of gravity is maintained within the range of the aircraft top shell to keep the aircraft stable and so that the vision systems, the infrared sensing system, and the auxiliary light are not blocked.
  4. DO NOT block the air intake and air vent.
  5. DO NOT use accessories that are specifically for the Mavic 3 Enterprise Series with other products. Users take full responsibility for any damage caused by the use of accessories with other products.
    If using a third-party device or payload on the Mavic 3 Enterprise Series aircraft, read the manual and safety documents of the third-party device or payload carefully. Even if the third-party equipment can be used with DJI equipment, DJI does not guarantee the third-party equipment can function properly or safely. DJI is not responsible for any property or personal damage caused by a third-party device or payload.

**Maintenance

NOTICE

  1. DO NOT allow the camera to come into contact with or become immersed in water or other liquids. Wipe the camera dry with a soft, absorbent cloth if it gets wet. Powering on an aircraft that has fallen into the water may cause permanent component damage. DO NOT store the product in humid or dusty areas.
  2. DO NOT use substances containing flammable substances such as alcohol to clean or maintain the cameras, vision systems, infrared sensing systems, or auxiliary bottom light.
  3. Check every part of the aircraft after any crash or collision. If you have any problems or questions, please contact DJI Support or a DJI authorized dealer.
  4. It is recommended to store the product in an environment with an ambient temperature of 15° to 25° C and a humidity of about 40%.
  5. When storing or transporting the aircraft for an extended period, make sure that the gimbal protector is firmly installed and the frame arms are folded. Detach the propellers and gently place the aircraft in the carrying case to avoid damaging the camera, IMU, and other parts.
  6. Check and maintain the product after using it for an extended period to keep it in the best condition possible and reduce potential safety hazards. The frequency of how often maintenance should be performed depends on how often the product is used. Maintenance must be performed at least once every six months. The product can be sent to DJI for maintenance. Visit https://enterprise.dji.com/enterprise-maintenance for more information.
  7. Parts of the aircraft have a life expectancy. From the time of first use, wearing parts such as the propeller and the gimbal damper have a life expectancy of 300 hours, while the other components of the propulsion system (e.g. motors) have a life expectancy of 600 hours. There may be potential safety hazards if the product is used after the life expectancy has passed. DJI is not responsible for any risks that may arise from continuing use of these parts.

Flight Condition Requirements
WARNING:

The aircraft is designed to operate in good to moderate weather conditions. Observe the following rules to avoid a collision, serious injury, and property damage:

  1. DO NOT use the aircraft in severe weather conditions including wind speeds exceeding 12 m/s, snow, rain, fog, hail, and lightning.
  2. DO NOT operate the aircraft when the GNSS signal is weak or there is a significant change in the ground level (such as when flying an aircraft from a high-rise balcony). Otherwise, the positioning may experience interference, and flight safety may be affected.
  3. DO NOT fly close to reflective surfaces such as water or snow. Otherwise, the vision system may be limited.
  4. When the GNSS signal is weak, fly the aircraft in environments with good lighting and visibility. Low ambient light may cause the vision system to work abnormally.
  5. DO NOT take off from moving objects such as cars, ships, and airplanes. Otherwise, the aircraft may behave abnormally and cause an accident.
  6. Be careful when taking off from a desert or sand beach, as the flight performance may be affected if sand enters the aircraft. It is recommended to use a drone landing pad when taking off from such places.

NOTICE

  1. Fly in open areas. Tall buildings, steel structures, mountains, and trees may affect the accuracy of the onboard compass and block the GNSS signal.
  2. Avoid interference between the remote controller and other wireless equipment. Make sure to turn off the Wi-Fi on your mobile device.
  3. DO NOT fly near areas with magnetic or radio interference. These include but are not limited to Wi-Fi hotspots, routers, Bluetooth devices, high-voltage lines, large-scale power transmission stations, radar stations, mobile base stations, and broadcasting towers. Failure to do so may compromise the transmission quality of this product or cause remote controller and video transmission errors which may affect flight orientation and location accuracy. The aircraft may behave abnormally or go out of control in areas with too much interference.

Regulations & Flight Restrictions

Regulations
WARNING:

Observe the following rules to avoid non-compliant behavior, serious injury, and property damage:

  1. DO NOT operate in the vicinity of manned aircraft regardless of altitude. DO NOT fly the aircraft above the authorized altitude. Remain well clear of and DO NOT interfere with manned aircraft operations. Be aware of and avoid other aircraft and obstacles at all times. Land immediately if necessary.
  2. DO NOT fly the aircraft in venues of major events, including but not limited to sporting events and concerts.
  3. DO NOT fly the aircraft without authorization in areas prohibited by local laws. Prohibited areas include airports, national borders, major cities, densely populated areas, venues of major events, areas where emergencies have occurred (such as forest fires), and locations with sensitive structures (such as nuclear power plants, power stations, hydropower plants, correctional facilities, heavily traveled roads, government facilities, and military zones).
  4. DO NOT fly the aircraft above the authorized altitude.
  5. Make sure to keep your aircraft within VLOS, and use an observer to assist if needed.
  6. DO NOT use the aircraft to carry illegal or dangerous goods or payloads.

NOTICE

  1. Make sure you understand the nature of your flight operation (such as for recreation, public use, or commercial use) and have obtained corresponding approval and clearance from the related government agencies before the flight. Consult with your local regulators for comprehensive definitions and specific requirements. Note that remote-controlled aircraft may be banned from conducting commercial activities in certain countries and regions. Check and follow all local laws and ordinances before flying as those rules may differ from those stated here.
  2. Respect the privacy of others when using the camera. DO NOT conduct surveillance operations such as image capture or video recording on any person, entity, event, performance, exhibition, or property without authorization or where there is an expectation of privacy, even if the image or video is captured for personal use.
  3. Be advised that in certain areas, the recording of images and videos from events, performances, exhibitions, or commercial properties by means of a camera may contravene copyright or other legal rights, even if the image or video was shot for personal use.

Flight Restrictions
NOTICE

DJI takes flight safety seriously and therefore developed various aids to help users fly more safely. These aids do not guarantee that you are in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and temporary flight restrictions. You are solely responsible for your behavior when flying a DJI aircraft. It is recommended to update the firmware to the latest version using DJI Pilot 2 or DJI ASSISTANTTM 2 to ensure the following features are fully updated.
GEO Zones
All GEO zones are listed on the DJI official website at http://www.dji.com/flysafe. In compliance with the relevant laws, policies, and regulations, some GEO zones will not appear on the map on the website. Refer to the DJI Pilot 2 app for a complete map of GEO zones in effect.
Altitude Limit
Fly no higher than 120 m (400 ft) above ground level and stay away from any surrounding obstacles.

  • Flight altitude restrictions vary in different regions. DO NOT fly above the maximum altitude set forth in your local laws and regulations.
