Overview

Thank you for purchasing a Hyco Blade hand dryer. The Blade is a hands in, high speed, automatic hand dryer that is suitable for a variety of public washroom applications. It gives fast dry times, low sound levels and the integral HEPA filter ensures hygienic operation.
Please read and follow these instructions to ensure that installation and operation are as simple and safe as possible.

Important Safety Points

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
The appliance must be permanently connected to the electrical supply through an appropriately rated isolating switch with a contact separation in all poles.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person in accordance with any local electrical regulations.
Only connect the appliance to an electrical supply that meets the specification detailed on the rating label.
This appliance is not designed for outdoor use or use in very damp conditions.
Ensure any future maintenance or modifications to the appliance complies with the guidelines in these instructions.
The appliance is intended for drying hands only; it should not be used for any other purpose.
To avoid malfunction, do not install the appliance in the following environments:

  • Temperatures below -10° C or above 40°C.
  • Locations exposed to direct sunlight or strong light.

Ensure the mounting surface is suitable for the weight of the product.
Ensure there are no hidden cables or pipework before commencing any drilling.
Isolate the electrical supply before undertaking any maintenance.
Allow the appliance to cool down before undertaking any maintenance.
Do not use abrasive materials or chemicals to clean this appliance.
Use a soft damp cloth when cleaning, avoid excessive use of liquids.

Installation Preparation

Select Mounting Position

To avoid malfunction, do not install the appliance in the following environments:

  • Temperatures below -10 ˚C or above 40˚C.
  • Locations exposed to direct sunlight or strong light.

Ensure there are no hidden cables or pipework before commencing any drilling.

  • Select a suitable position to mount the appliance.
  • Decide the height of the mounting bracket install. Recommended heights from the floor to the top of the mounting bracket are:
    780 mm – Women
    800 mm – Men

Prepare for Mounting

Ensure the mounting surface is suitable for the weight of the appliance.

  • Using the mounting template supplied, mark and drill the four holes for the mounting bracket (see Diagram 1).
  • Mark and drill the two lower locking screw holes.
  • Insert six wall plugs into the holes and secure the mounting bracket firmly with the supplied screws.

Electrical Connection

This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person in accordance with any local electrical regulations.
The appliance must be permanently connected to the electrical supply through an appropriately rated isolating switch with a contact separation in all poles.

  • Make provisions for the electrical wiring (if required) prior to hanging the appliance onto the mounting bracket.
  • Electrical connection is class II
  • The appliance is supplied with a pre-wired power cable.

Installation

  • Before mounting the appliance onto the mounting bracket, remove the air filter and drain tank (see Diagram 2).
  • Offer the appliance up to the mounting bracket and ensure it engages into the slots correctly.
  • Secure the appliance in its final mounting position using the two locking screw holes located at the base of the appliance.
  • Refit the air filter and drain tank.
  • Check that the appliance is fully secured to the mounting surface upon completion.

Operation

  • Remove the drain tank to access the power switch which is located at the front, bottom left of the hand dryer. Ensure power switch is on.
  • The appliance has intelligent temperature control – heating element switches off when ambient room temperature is above 25°C.

Hand Dryer Usage

  • Shake off excess water from hands into the sink/ basin prior to inserting them into the hand dryer.
  • The hand dryer will stop working after 25 seconds of continuous operation. Remove hands fully to reset and re-insert to begin operating again.
    Stretch out both hands and insert them all the way in.

Pull them back slowly.

Repeat as required until hands are dry.

Cleaning and Maintenance

This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person in accordance with any local electrical regulations.

Allow the appliance to cool down before undertaking any maintenance.
Do not use abrasive materials or chemicals to clean this appliance.

  • Routinely check the level of the drain tank and empty as often as required.

  • To clean the drain hole, pour a small amount of water down it and clean using the flexible pipe brush supplied.

  • Periodically remove and clean the filter. Remove dust and particles with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Wash with clean water and allow to dry before replacing.

  • The appliance is supplied with a pre-wired power cable.
  • If an alternative supply cable is required, remove the terminal block cover and replace the existing cable.
  • Access to the terminal block is gained via the front panel. Remove the drain tank and filter then remove the 2 screws at the base of the cover.
  • Hold the lower part of the front panel and pull up and away.
  • The front panel is held by 4 secure brackets which must be pulled away.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely Fault(s) Solution
No air flow Is there power to the unit? Ensure power to the unit is on and

the power on/ off switch is turned on.
No air flow| Have hands been inserted correctly?| Ensure hands are fully inserted.
Air flow once hands are removed| Check the sensor is free of dirt or any other objects.| Clean sensor/ remove objects.
Only cold air flow| Is the room temperature above 25°C?| If the room temperature is above 25°C the heating element will automatically switch off to save energy.

Guarantee and Service Policy

This product is covered by a standard parts or replacement warranty for a period of three years from the date of purchase.
If there is a manufacturing defect within the warranty period we will send spare parts, repair and return the unit or, at our discretion, supply a replacement product.
Incorrect installation and failure to follow correct operating instructions are excluded.
Consequential costs such as labour charges or damage to surroundings are expressly excluded.

At the end of its working life this equipment must not be disposed of as household waste. It must be taken to a local authority waste collection centre or to a dealer providing this service. Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment separately enables its components to be recovered and recycled to obtain significant savings in energy and resources. In order to underline the duty to dispose of this equipment separately, the product is marked with a crossed out dustbin.
