  • The Kogan SmarterHomeTM Colour & Warm/Cool White Smart LED Ambient Bar Light is a versatile lighting solution that allows you to adjust the color and brightness of the light.
  • It can be mounted either using the base mount or adhesive stickers.
  • The bar lights can be connected to a power source using the supplied USB connector.
  • The product can be controlled through the SmarterHome app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Product Usage Instructions

• Installation:
  • Base Mount:
  • Align the hole in the mounting base with the hole at the bottom of the bar light. Ensure both are in an upright position.
  • Insert one of the supplied screws into the hole in the mounting base and secure the bar light in place using the Allen key.
  • Repeat the above steps to mount the second bar light.
  • Note: Once the bar lights have been secured to the mounting base, you cannot adjust the angle of the bar light.
  • Sticker Mount:
  • Adhere two of the supplied adhesive stickers to the rear of the bar light.
  • Clean the mounting surface and remove the backing paper from the adhesive stickers.
  • Firmly press the bar light against the mounting surface for at least 30 seconds.
  • Repeat the above steps to attach the second bar light.
  • Connecting to Power:
  • Connect the USB connector to a vacant USB port on your computer or a 5V USB power adapter (not supplied).
  • Repeat the same step for the second bar light.
  • Connect to SmarterHomeTM App:
  • Install App:
  • Download the Kogan SmarterHome app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

  • To register:
  • If you already have a SmarterHome account, select ‘Log In’. To register a new account, select ‘Sign Up’.
  • The system will automatically recognize your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box.
  • Enter your email address and tap ‘Get Verification Code’ to continue.
  • A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
  • Continue to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.
  • Set device in pairing mode:
  • When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (the bar lights are flashing rapidly).
  • If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device in pairing mode by unplugging and plugging the USB connector into the power supply 3 times until the lights start flashing.
  • Add device through network:
  • Once registered, tap ‘Add Device’ on the app’s home page or the ‘+’ in the upper right corner.
  • Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Lighting > Ambient Light Bar).
  • Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHomeTM device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.
  • Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the lights flashing rapidly, and tap ‘Confirm light is rapidly flashing’.
  • The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Keep your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHomeTM device close until the connection is complete.
  • After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app’s home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.
  • Note: Once connected, you can select ‘Create Scene’ from the ‘+’ in the upper right corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHomeTM products and automate their functions.

  • Q: How do I adjust the color and brightness of the ambient bar light?
  • A: You can adjust the color and brightness of the ambient bar light through the SmarterHome app. Simply open the app, select the device from the home page, and use the provided controls to customize the color and brightness settings.
  • Q: Can I control multiple ambient bar lights simultaneously?

OVERVIEW

INSTALLATION

Base Mount

1. Align the hole in the mounting base with the hole at the bottom of the bar light. Ensure the mounting base and the bar light are in an upright position.
2. Insert one of the supplied screws into the hole in the mounting base and secure the bar light in place using the Allen key.
3. Repeat the above steps to mount the second bar light.
4. After the bar lights have been secured to the mounting base, you cannot adjust the angle of the bar light.

Sticker Mount

1. Adhere two of the supplied adhesive stickers to the rear of the bar light as shown below.
2. Clean the mounting surface. Remove the backing paper from the adhesive stickers and firmly press the bar light against the mounting surface for at least 30 seconds.
3. Repeat the above steps to attach the second bar light.

Connecting to Power

1. Connect the USB connector to a vacant USB port on your computer or 5V USB power adapter (not supplied).
2. Repeat for the second bar light.

CONNECT

CONNECT TO SMARTERHOME™ APP

• Install App: Download the “Kogan SmarterHome” app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

To register:

1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, select ‘Log In’. To register a new account, select ‘Sign Up’.
2. The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap ‘Get Verification Code’ to continue.

   • Notes:
   • The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
   • The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.
   • Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in opposite order.
4. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the lights flashing rapidly, and tap “Confirm light is rapidly flashing”.
5. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
6. After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app’s home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Note: You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding “SmarterHome” to the Google Home app

1. From the home page of the Google Home app, select the “+” icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the ‘Add and manage’ page.
2. Select ‘Set up device’, then select the ‘Works with Google’ option.
3. Select the search bar and type ‘Smarter Home’ to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
4. From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
5. Select “Kogan SmarterHome™” from the app options.
6. Tap ‘Authorise’ to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
7. Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.

Note: Please note that Google Home can only control the base/core functions of any compatible SmarterHome™ devices. To make full use of this product’s smart functionality, please use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.

AMAZON ALEXA CONTROL

Note: You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding “SmarterHome” to the Alexa app

1. From the home page of the Alexa app, select the “ ” icon in the bottom-right and select “Skills & Games” from the sidebar.
2. Select the search bar and type ‘Smarter Home’ to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.
3. Tap ‘Enable to Use’ to add the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill to Alexa.
4. From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
5. Select “Kogan SmarterHome™” from the app options.
6. Tap ‘Authorise’ to grant Alexa permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
7. Once connected, the app will perform a search and display the devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. When your devices have successfully connected to the Alexa app, you will be able to control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices via Alexa’s voice commands.
   • Note: Please note that Alexa can only control the base/core functions of any compatible SmarterHome™ devices. To make full use of this product’s smart functionality, please use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.
