WiFi configuration

To be able to send measuring data with the MSR147W2D through a WiFi network (local wireless network) you have to first setup the following WiFi settings in the Setup program of the MSR PC software:

  1. To which WiFi network do you want to connect the logger?
Login data: “Network (SSID)” and “Network Key (WPA2)”

  2. Where is the data sent to?
    “Destination”: URL (e.g. msrsmartcloud.com) or IP (e.g. 192.168.1.2)
You can activate the WiFi module using the button on the logger. When putting it into operation it is recommended to use the Setup program (“WLAN/WIF?” -> “Status”) on the PC via USB cable.
For system administrators: The MSR147W2D supports a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) and a dynamic assignation of the IP address through the DHCP server. When using a URL a DNS server (port 53) is also required. Port 9294 (TCP and UDP) is used to transfer the data.

Sending data through an existing WiFi network to the MSR SmartCloud

Network (SSID) Network (SSID)
Network Key (WPA2) Network Key (WPA2)
Destination (URL) Destination (URL): msrsmartcloud.com
For this option you do not require any additional hardware, as it uses the existing network infrastructure.
Please ensure that the logger has access to the Internet. If there is no access to an existing WiFi network, we recommend option 1b.

Sending data through an additional WiFi network to the MSR SmartCloud

MSR147W2D Wi Fi Data Logger - Wifi Configuration 2 Setup
Network (SSID) Network (SSID)
Network Key (WPA2) Network Key (WPA2)
Destination (URL) Destination (URL): msrsmartcloud.com
In this option an additional WiFi network and internet access using a mobile phone connection are provided — e.g. through a Fritx! Box. A suitable Fritz! Box as well as a SIM card that can be used in many countries is available from MSR Electronics GmbH upon request. The configuration instruction for the Fritz! Box is available in the support area on www.cik-solutions.com’en-msr- support
Alternatively, you can also use your own hardware and SIM cards.
