Power supply
5 ways to power the radio
Hand crank power
- Unfold the crank handle from the backside and rotate it in either any direction.
- Rotate the crank handle, it will generate 300-350mA electricity to charge the built-in rechargeable battery.
Note: Rotate the crank handle at the speed of 2 laps per second. It will generate 300-350mA electricity.
Solar power
- Expose the solar panel to sunlight, don’t charge indoors.
- It will generate 30-50mA electricity to charge the built-in rechargeable battery.
Note: Solar panel will generate 30-50mA electricity when exposed to sunlight. It is difficult to fully charge the battery with solar panel, which is mostly used for maintaining the rechargeable battery.
AC adapter power supply
- Connect with the micro USB cable, then plug into a 110V-220V standard outlet.
- Micro USB cable is included in the package.
Rechargeable battery
- The radio contains a non-removable rechargeable lithium battery.
AAA batteries
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit and insert 3pcs AAA batteries making sure the polarity is correct.
- When rechargeable battery power is low, the power source will be switched to AAA batteries power mode automatically.
General device functions
Switching on the device
- Press the button to turn on the radio.
Switching off the device
- When the radio is on, hold press the button, the radio will be turn off.
Mode selection
- When the radio is on, repeat press the button to switch between DAB+ (Digital Radio), FM and standby modes.
Adjusting the volume
- While playing DAB or FM, adjust volume by pressing VOL + or VOL – button.
Display
Menu operation
The menu takes you to all functions and settings for the radio. Menu navigation is carried out with the MENU button, ENTER button, button, button. The menu is divided into submenus and contains different menu items or activatable functions, depending on the mode. To open the menu, simply press the ENTER button briefly. To switch to submenus, first press button, button to display a submenu, then press the ENTER button to access the submenu.
INFO
- In DAB or FM radio mode, a longer press MENU button to change the bottom of the display showing radio program text, radio program type, radio name, time or date.
DAB+ (digital radio) function
DAB+ (digital radio) reception
- Repeat press the button until [DAB] is shown on the display.
- If DAB+ is being started for the first time, a complete scan will be performed.
- After the scan is complete, the first station is played back and performed. After the scan is complete, the first station is played back in alphanumeric order.
Full scan
- In order to perform a complete scan, open the MENU > [Full Scan] and pressthe ENTER button.
- [Scanning…] appears in the display.
Manual tune
- In order to manual tune, open the MENU > [Manual tune] and press the ENTER button.
- Press TUNE button or TUNE button to select channel frequency.
- Press ENTER button to confirm your setting.
DRC
The DRC menu item is used to set the compression rate, which compensates for dynamic fluctuations and the associated volume variations. Open the MENU > [DRC] and press the ENTER button to enter submenus, press TUNE button, TUNE button to select the [DRC PARAMETER], and press the ENTER button to confirm your selection.
- DRC high – High compression.
- DRC low – Low compression.
- DRC off – Compression switched off.
PRUNE
- This menu item is for removing old stations and those no longer being received from the station list.
- Openthe MENU >[PRUNE]and pressthe ENTER button to enter the submenus, press TUNE button or TUNE button to select the [YES], and pressthe ENTER button to confirm your selection.
Selecting stations
- By pressing TUNE button or TUNE button, the station list can be called up and you can switch between the available stations.
Storing DAB+ stations in a memory slot
The programme memory can save up to 30 stations in the DAB+ range.
- First select the desired station (Section 6.2, 6.3, 6.6).
- In order to store this station in a memory slot, hold down the PRESET STORE – button while playing until [Preset Store] appears on the display. Then use the TUNE button or TUNE button to select a favourite memory slot (1 – 30). Press the ENTER button to save.
- Repeat this process to save additional stations.
Retrieving DAB+ stations from a memory slot
- To retrieve a station that you have stored in the FAV memory, hold press the PRESET RECALL + button and select a station slot (1 – 30) using the TUNE button or TUNE button. Pressthe ENTER buttonto play the station.
- If no station is saved in the selected station slot, [empty)] appears on the display.
FM mode
Switching on FM radio mode
- Switch to FM mode by repeat pressing the button.
- [FM] is shown on the display.
- When switching on for the first time, the frequency 95.60 MHz is set.
- If you have already set or saved a station, the radio plays the last station set.
- In the case of RDS stations, the station name appears.
FM reception with RDS information
RDS is a procedure for broadcasting additional information via FM stations. Broadcasters with RDS broadcast their station name or the programme type, for example. This is shown on the display. The device can show the RDS information RT (Radio text), PS (Station name), PTY (Programme type)
Station Scan
- Press and hold the ENTER button to auto scan stations.
- Press the TUNE button or TUNE button repeatedly to set the desired stations or frequency. The display shows the frequency in steps of 0.05 MHZ.
- Press and hold the TUNE button or TUNE button, it will auto scan to the nearest station and play.
Scan setting
In this menu item it is possible to set the sensitivity of the scan.
- Press the Menu & Info button and select the entry [Scan settings].
- Select whether the scan should only stop for stations with a strong signal [Strong Stations] or for all stations (including stations with a weak signal) [All Stations].
- Pressthe ENTER button to save.
Saving FM stations to a memory slot
- The station memory can save up to 30 stations in the FM range.
- First set the desired station frequency (Section 7.3)
- In order to store this station in a memory slot, hold down the PRESET STORE – button while playing until [Preset Store] appears on the display. Then use the TUNE button or TUNE button to select a favourite memory slot (1 – 30). Pressthe ENTER button to save.
- Repeat this process to save additional stations.
Retrieving FM stations from a memory slot
To retrieve a station that you have stored in the FAV memory, long press the PRESET RECALL + button and select a station slot (1 – 30) using the TUNE button or TUNE button. Pressthe ENTER button to play the station. If no station is saved in the selected station slot, [(empty)] appears on the display.
Standy mode
Set alarm time
CR1009Pro DAB features dual alarms, below is alarm 1 setting instructions, alarm 2 setting is same as alarm 1.
- Open the MENU >[System]>[Alarm] and pressthe ENTER button.
- Press the or button to select the alarm 1 or alarm 2 and press the ENTER button to confirm.
- Press the or button to select the hour and press the ENTER button to save.
- Set alarm mode
- Press to choose from DAB FM or Buzzer sound, press ENTER to save.
- Set alarm date
- Press to set alarms for daily, weekdays, weekends, once, press ENTER to save.
- Set alarm duration
- Press to choose from 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes and 120 minutes.
- Set alarm volume
- Press to set alarm volume press ENTER to save.
Time and date settings
- Press MENU > [System]>[Time]> [Set Time/Date] and press ENTER to confirm.
- Press to set HOUR, press ENTER to save.
- Press to set MINUTE, press ENTER to save.
- Press to set DATE, press ENTER to save.
- Press to set MONTH, press ENTER tosave.
- Press to set YEAR, press ENTER to save.
Setting the time format
- Open the MENU > [System] >[Time]> [Set Time/Date] > [Set 12/24 hour] and pressthe ENTER button.
- Use the or button to select the 12 hour format or 24 hour format and pressthe ENTER button to save.
Setting time auto update
- Open the MENU > [System] >[Time]> [Set Time/Date] >[Auto update] and press the ENTER button.
- Use the or button to select [Auto update from FM], [Auto update from DAB], [Auto update from Any] or [No Update] and press the ENTER button to save.
Other functions
Sleep timer
The sleep timer automatically turns to Standby mode and stop playing DAB or FM when the set time end.
- In mode DAB/FM open the MENU > [System] > [Sleep] and press the ENTER button.
- Press the or button to select a timer including sleep off, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes.
- Press the ENTER button to save. When the sleep timer is active, a [SL] symbol appears in the display showing the time still available.
Language setting
- Open the MENU > [System] > [Language] and press the ENTER button.
- Press the (LEFT SELECTION) or (RIGHT SELECTION) button to select your language and confirm by pressing the ENTER button.
Backlight
Open the MENU >[System]>[Backlight] and pressthe ENTER button. [On level] regulates the brightness of the type face. You can choose from the [High], [Medium] and [Low] brightness intensities. Use the TUNE or TUNE button to select the brightness level and press ENTER to save. [Time out] means when the backlight will turn off. You can choose from the off, 10 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 60 sec, 90 sec, 120 sec or 180 sec. Use the TUNE or TUNE button to select the parameter and press ENTER to save.
Factory reset
Reset the device to factory settings to delete all the saved stations, date, time and so on.
- Open the MENU > [System] > [Factory reset] and press the ENTER button.
- Use the or button to select [YES] and confirm by pressing the ENTER button.
Reading lamp
- Flip up the solar panel by 90 degrees to be a table lamp.
- Press reading Lamp button and the lamp will be turned to brightness Level 1 (the brightest level).
- Press the button once again, the lamp will be turned to brightness Level 2 (normal brightness).
Flashlight
- Press flashlight button and the flashlight will be turned to brightness Level 1 (the brightest level).
- Press the button once again, the flashlight will be turned to brightness Level 2(normal brightness).
SOS alert
In an emergency, you can turn on the flashing red SOS light and alert sound.
- Press SOS button to turn on SOS alert.
- Press SOS button again, the SOS alert will be turned off.
USB Port for cellphone charging
- Connect your phone charging cable with the USB output port on the right side of the radio.
