IMPORTANT SAFETY GUIDELINES

PLEAS READ THE MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE OPERATING YOUR PRODUCT AND RETAIN IT FOR FUTURE USE.

The following basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances:

  1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.
    The Appliance

  2. This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed (i.e. toasting bread). Any use not complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous.The manufacturer is not responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.

  3. The appliance comes fully installed. Do not substitute the removable crumb tray with one not provided by the manufacturer as this may cause injuries to persons. Avoid carrying out operations which are not specified in this manual, such as disassembling and/or altering of the appliance. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.

  4. Before use, check the integrity of the appliance and power cable. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a qualified technician in order to avoid a shock
    hazard.

  5. Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, and that the wall socket is properly grounded.This appliance is fitted with an earth wire for extra safety.

  6. Do not power the appliance using multiple sockets. If possible, avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is absolutely necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and according to the electrical parameters of the ad ters.

  7. The appliance must not be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances which are not specified in this manual.

  8. The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger. In addition, remove any packing material inside the bread insert slot.
    Location

  9. This appliance is not suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens,heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapour, mist or dust, in atmospheric conditions when/ after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance in order to avert the risk of fire or explosion.

  10. Do not operate the appliance in the bathroom, near sources of water, e.g. next to a sink, or next to an open window. Rainwater splashing onto the toaster may cause an electric shock.

  11. When using the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon and its vicinity may become very hot. Keep the appliance away from curtains and carpets and from combustible materials such as fabric, paper, wood, glass or plastic. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left and right sides, and 30 cm from the top, of the appliance. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes. Never put things on top of the appliance.

  12. Do not touch the outside and especially the inside of the toaster while it is operating. This is to prevent scalding. The bottom of the toaster becomes exceedingly hot as the toaster operates. Only touch the “Start Control Lever” “Cancel” “Reheat” and I I “Defrost” Buttons or the “Rotary Knob”.

  13. Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. The cable must not be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will not be tripped over. Do not allow the cable to hang above the bread insert slot, or near hotplates, hobs and burners.

  14. Do not use or store the appliance outdoors. Store and use the appliance only indoors, or in any case, protected from weathering such as rain, direct radiation of the sun and dust.
    Operations

  15. lf you are using the appliance for the first time, you should:
    a.Clean the exterior parts of the appliance thoroughly with a damp cloth. Do not use metal scouring pads.
    b. Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before use and that the crumb tray is fitted into position.
    c.Place and use the appliance upright on a horizontal, stable, dry and heat-resistant surface.Damage to the appliance may occur if it is placed on an incline or decline.
    d.(First use)Ensure that the “Start control lever” is in its uppermost position, switch the appliance on, and pull the “Start control lever” down. Turn the “Rotary knob” to the hottest level of “6”.The appliance starts immediately and stops automatically with the “Start control lever” returning to its original position. This process burns off any accumulated oil or dirt from the manufacturing process, and any odour given off is normal.
    e. (Subsequent uses)Ensure that the “Start control lever” is in its uppermost position, switch the appliance on, place the bread in the “Bread insert slot”, and pull the “Start control lever” down. Turn the “Rotary knob “to the desired level of toasting. The appliance starts immediately and stops automatically with the “Start control lever” returning to its original position. Switch off the electric mains and unplug the power cable before removing the toasted bread. Pushing the “Cancel” Button will stop the heating and will return the “Start control lever” to its original position. (refer to the section “How to Use” for additional steps)
    f. Never place the following items in the appliance during heating as they may create foods or metal utensils must not be inserted into the appliance; containers constructed of any materials (including but not limited to: cardboard, plastic, paper, metal foil, etc.);bread spread with butter, margarine, jam, peanut butter, kaya, oil, grease, etc.
    g. Always use tongs when inserting or removing bread from the hot toaster. Beware that the area round the bread insert slot will get hot during use. Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet which may prevent its proper functioning,
    DO NOT

    • Cover the appliance during functioning.
    • Insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance.
    • Attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
    • Use any of the following agents as a cleaner: gasoline, thinners, or benzene;
    • Toast bread without removing the wrappers (including plastic, paper or metal) first.
    • Operate the appliance for more than 30 minutes without turning it off for at least 10 minutes to let the appliance cool down for a total usage of 2 hours a day – failure to heed this warning may result in motor failure.
  16. During operation, do not touch the appliance with wet body parts, and it is recommended to have between you and the standing surface an isolating element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).

  17. Do not soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock. In case of accidental fall in water, do not try to take it out but first of all unplug immediately the power cable from the socket.

  18. Plug and unplug the power cable firmly holding it with dry hands. Always unplug the power cable to avoid overheating and avoid stretching it (Do not II it tug it or use it to drag the appliance to which is connected). Before unplugging the appliance, switch it of( using the proper command on the control panel.

  19. Always remember to unplug the power cable of the appliance if it is not used for a long period, before storing, cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.

  20. ln case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning, switch off the appliance immediately, turn off the power and check the cause of the a normal if possible, with the support of a qualified person.

  21. lf smoke is observed coming out of the appliance, unplug the power cable immediately.

  22. This appliance is not intended for commercial use but to be used in households and similar applications, such as: Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; Dormitories; clients in hotels, motels and other residential environments; Bed and breakfast type environment.

  23. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.Keep the appliance and its cable out of reach of children less than 8 years old.

HOW TO USE

Adjustable heat for 6 different browning levels

  1. to Toast Bread

    • Ensure that the “Start control lever” is in its uppermost position.
    • Insert the plug of the power cable and switch on the electric mains.
    • Place the bread in the “Bread insert slot”
    • Turn the “Rotary knob” to the desired level of toasting: from 1 to 6
      HOW TO USE
      Rotary Knob” settings
      The higher the number chosen, the more intense the heating, and the darker the bread. As the fibre-content and Glycemic Index (GI) of each type of bread differs even among manufacturers, the following acts only as a guide to the settings required for different types of bread. The type of browning differs according to an individual’ s taste as well, some may like their white bread lightly toasted, while others prefer them heavily toasted.
      Low: Brown (Whole meal) bread, white bread, raisin & fruit bread, sweet breads, day-old bread Medium: High fibre white bread, gluten-free bread, fresh bread High: Whole-grain bread, rye bread, sourdough bread, crumpets Pull the “Start control level” down until it automatically locks into places. The appliance starts immediately and stops automatically with the “Start control lever” returning to its original position.
      Switch off the electric mains and unplug the power cable before removing the toasted bread.
  2. To Defrost Frozen Bread
    Ensure that the “Start control lever” is in its uppermost position.
    Insert the plug of the power cable and witch on the electric mains.
    Place frozen bread in the “Bread insert slot” . Turn the “Rotary knob” to the desired level of defrosting:
    Low: Bread from the refrigerator or thin slices of bread Medium: Frozen bread slices High: Thicker frozen bread slices and for rolls and thick toast slice Pull the “Start control lever” down until it automatically locks into place.
    Press the “Defrost” button, the appliance starts immediately and stops automatically.
    After the bread had warmed up to room temperature, the “Start control lever” will return to its original position, and the defrosted bread “pops out” You may then proceed to toast the bread as outlined in step 1.

  3. To Reheat Bread
    If you did not eat the toast when it was hot, you can heat it again for 30s without browning it further.
    Lower the “Start control lever” and press the “Reheat” button, the lights in the “Cancel” and “Reheat” buttons turn on. When the 30s has elapsed, the lever returns up automatically and lifts up the hot toast.

  4. To Cancel
    Pushing the “Cancel” button stops the heating and returns the “Start control lever” to its original position. Never try to force the “Start control level” upwards to remove the food item.

  5. To use the build-in grill
    Rotate the built-in grill knob, the built-in grill will rise, it can be used to bake croissants, etc., so as to meet a variety of needs.

  6. Unplug the power cable by firmly holding it with dry hands before removing the toasted bread . Always use tongs when inserting or removing bread from the hot during use.
    Caution: Toasted bread is HOT!

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Switch off the electric mains and unplug the power cable when not in use. Wait until the appliance has completely cooled before cleaning or performing any maintenance operation.
  2. Slide out the “Crumb tray” at the bottom of the toaster and remove any food particles present. Clean with a clean damp cloth.
  3. To remove any pieces of bread remaining in the toaster, turn the toaster upside down and shake gently. Never insert any hard or sharp instrument into the “Bread insert slot” as this could damage the toaster and cause a safety hazard.
  4. Wipe the interior chamber and the exterior of the toaster using a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders.
  5. Never immerse the toaster in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock. Do not put the appliance in a dishwasher.
  6. Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before use or before storage.
  7. Never wrap the power cable around the toaster, use the power cable storage cleats on the underside of the toaster.
