Establishing the required connections to the device configuration

  • Always observe the safety regulations and instructions below.
  • To power the device, select the description a), b) or c) that applies to your current constellation.

Power supply via external power supply
Provide power using the external power supply.

PoE power supply via PoE network device
Connect a network cable to the with PoE marked Ethernet port of the device and a free PoE active Network connection box your local Network (e.g. on a PoE-enabled switch).

PoE power supply via separate PoE injector

  • Connect a network cable to the one with PoE  marked
  • Ethernet port of the device and the output of the PoE injector. Then connect another network cable with the input of the PoEInjector and a free NON-PoE-active network connection socket your local network. Close
  • Connect the PoE injector to the power supply

Always pay attention to the documentation for the PoE injector or PoE switch!
Connect other required device interfaces to other components using suitable cables and close  For devices with WLAN interfaces, the antennas supplied may be used.
Select one of the following configuration methods a) or b).

Configuration via the local network (recommended)
Please note that an active DHCP server is required on the network connected to the device. Connect the computer intended for configuration (e.g. notebook) either directly using an Ethernet cable the ETH or LAN interfaces of the device or to a switch in the same network. Any existing CONFIG or COM interface is not suitable for configuration via the network!
Configuration via the serial port of a connected computer (if available) You need a serial configuration cable that connects to the CONFIG or COM interface, if available  device is connected. This socket is intended exclusively for connection to a serial interface!

Options for initial commissioning of the unconfigured device

  • Option 1: via a web browser (WEBconfig, not for serially connected devices)

  • Configuration via a web browser is a simple and quick option as it does not require any additional software must be installed on the computer used for configuration.
Note : If a certificate warning appears in your browser when attempting to connect to your device, there is a button or a link on the browser page displayed to still establish the connection to the device (depending on the browser used, usually under Advanced).

  • Below, select the description a) or b) that applies to your current constellation to configure thev vdevice.

Configuration in the network without an active DHCP server

  • The IP address of the device is used for configuration via TCP/IP required in the local network (LAN). After turning on
  • An unconfigured LANCOM device first checks whether it is in the LAN a DHCP server is active.
  • The device can be accessed from any computer with activated Auto DHCP Function with a web browser at the IP address 172.23.56.254 can be reached.
  • The specified IP address can be adjusted at any time.

Configuration in the network with active DHCP server

This procedure requires the one used on your network DNS server is the one reported by the device via DHCP Hostnames can resolve. When using a LANCOM device as DHCP and DNS servers this is by default the case.
You can access your device via https://lancom-XXYYZZ. XXYYZZ are the last six digits of your device’s MAC address. You can find this on the enclosed LANCOM document Management Cloud or on the device nameplate. If necessary, attach your local domain name network ( e.g. B. .internal).
When connecting the computer to an unconfigured LANCOM device, WEBconfig automatically starts the setup process.

Basic Settings Wizard started.

  • After the setup wizard has been run through, the initial commissioning of the device is complete.

  • If necessary, make further configurations using the setup wizards available to choose from. → Option 2: via the Windows software LANconfig (www.lancom.de/downloads)

  • Please wait until the device has finished booting before starting LANconfig.

  • Open the device configuration by double-clicking on the unconfigured device in the device list.Confirm
Read the security notice and first configure a device password under Management -> Admin -> Device configuration.

  • Under Wireless LAN -> General -> Logical WLAN settings, configure an SSID and an associated one
Password (PSK). The initial commissioning of the device is now complete. → Option 3: via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC)

  • Special requirements are required to configure the device via the LMC. Information about this You can find the topic at www.lancom.de/lmc-access.
