Upgrading the monitor driver

Usually a monitor works well with a computer without installing a driver. If you have the following problems, consider upgrading the monitor driver.

  • Fail to select the native resolution of your monitor on Windows Operating System and have a blurry display.
  • The display is distorted.
  • Fail to select the highest screen refresh rate of your monitor. The highest refresh rate varies by model.

Refer to the product specifications on the website for the refresh rate information of the purchased model.
This instruction details the procedure for manually updating the existing monitor driver on your Microsoft Windows computer. It is currently tested as compatible for Windows 11 and Windows 10 Operating System (OS).
If the problem remains after upgrading the monitor driver, contact the local customer service for assistance.
The LCD Monitor driver for your model may well function perfectly with other versions of Windows, however, as at the time of writing, BenQ has done no testing of this driver on other versions of Windows and cannot guarantee its operation on those systems.
Installing monitor driver involves selecting an appropriate information file (.inf) from the downloaded driver files for the particular model monitor you have connected, and letting Windows install the corresponding driver files. You need only steer it in the right direction.
See:

  • How to install on Windows 11 system on page 30

Setting up your own game mode
There are several preset picture modes on your monitor that are suitable for games. To better suit your needs, you can change and save the related display settings, and switch to your own game mode easily.
Do not plug or unplug S Switch while configuring game mode settings.

  1. Press the 5-way controller to bring up the Quick Menu.
  2.  Make sure the Auto Save function is enabled from Menu > Save > Auto Save.
  3. Adjust the related available settings in different OSD menus.
  4. The customized settings are applied and saved automatically to the current mode.
  5. Alternatively, go to Menu > Save > Save to and save your preferences to a game mode (Gamer1 / Gamer2 / Gamer3) to the monitor. If you want to switch to your game mode at any time, go toMode and select the game mode with the new settings to apply.

If Auto Save is disabled, you need to go to Save > Save Settings to save the settings manually to the current mode after display adjustment.

Working with game mode to go by S Switch
Once the adjusted display settings have been saved to S Switch, you can take the settings with you to other LCD monitors with the same model name. It is driver-free and helps apply new game modes quickly.
Saving your game modes to S Switch
By default, the settings for game mode buttons (labeled 1~3) on S Switch are identical to the game modes (Gamer1 / Gamer2 / Gamer3) in Mode on your monitor. You can change the setting as desired.

  1. Adjust to the personal preference in monitor menu.
  2. Press and hold one of the game mode buttons (labeled 1~3) on S Switch for 3 seconds to save the customized settings. The game mode is now saved on S Switch and is ready to go.

Copying game modes from an S Switch to your monitor
Apart from the default and the adjusted settings done on your monitor, you can quickly import settings from other monitors with the same model name via S Switch.

  1. Make sure the Auto Save function is enabled from Menu > Save > Auto Save.
  2. Plug in an S Switch with new game modes from another monitor with the same model name to your monitor. Press one of the game mode buttons (labeled 1~3) on S Switch to apply and save the settings to your monitor.

For example, if the Gamer 2 button is pressed, the Gamer 2 setting will be applied and overwrite Gamer2 on the monitor.

  • A system reset or mode reset will restore the monitor and the connected S Switch settings to the factory default values.
  • Unplug the S Switch first if you wish to keep the game mode settings on it. To reset, see Reset Mode on page 56 or Reset All on page 56 for more information.
  • If you wish to apply the Gamer 1/2/3 settings from S Switch temporarily without importing the profiles to your monitor, disable the Auto Save function from Menu > Save > Auto Save before pressing the Gamer 1/2/3 button on S Switch.
  • If the Auto Save function is disabled from Menu > Save > Auto Save in the first place and you wish to import the profiles from S Switch to your monitor after pressing a game mode button, go to Menu > Save > Save Settings. Select YES to save the settings manually.
