INSTALLATION AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: Read before installing the fixture. Retain for future reference.

WARNING

• DANGER: Risk of shock. Disconnect power before installation. DO NOT INSTALL THIS LAMP IN A PRE-HEAT LUMINAIRE. THIS LAMP ONLY OPERATES ON ELECTRONIC BALLASTS. IF THE LAMP DOES NOT LIGHT WHEN THE LUMINAIRE IS ENERGIZED, REMOVE THE LAMP FROM THE LUMINAIRE AND CONTACT THE LAMP MANUFACTURER OR QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.

• CAUTION : Risk of fire. IF THE LAMP OR LUMINAIRE EXHIBITS UNDESIRABLE OPERATION (BUZZING, FLICKERING, ETC.), IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE POWER, REMOVE THE LAMP FROM THE LUMINAIRE, AND CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.

• WARNING: Risk of fire or electric shock. LED Retrofit Kit installation requires knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. If not qualified, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician.

• WARNING: The product must be installed in accordance with the national electrical code or your local electrical code. If you are not familiar with these codes and requirements, contact a qualified electrician.

• WARNING: Install this kit only in luminaries that have the construction features and dimensions shown in the photographs and/or drawing and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the luminaire.

• WARNING : To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.

• WARNING: To avoid potential fire or shock hazards, do not use this retrofit kit in luminaries employing shunted bi-pin lamp holders. NOTE: Shunted lamp holders are found only in fluorescent luminaries with instant-start ballasts. Instant-start ballasts can be identified by the words “Instant Start” or “I.S.” marked on the ballast. This designation may be in the form of a statement pertaining to the ballast itself or may be combined with the marking for the lamps with which the ballast is intended to be used, for example, F40T 12/IS, for more information contact the LED luminaire retrofit kit manufacturer.
  Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.
  Installers should not disconnect the existing wire from lamp holder terminals to make new connections at lamp holder terminals. Instead, installers should cut existing lamp holder leads away from the lamp holder and make new electrical connections to lamp holder lead wires by employing applicable connectors.

• WARNING: Luminaire wiring and electrical parts may be damaged when installing retrofit kit hardware. Check for enclosed wiring and components.

• WARNING: Check the existing wiring for damage before installing the upgrade kit. Do not install if existing wires are damaged. THIS RETROFIT KIT IS ACCEPTED AS A COMPONENT OF A LUMINAIRE WHERE THE SUITABILITY OF THE COMBINATION SHALL BE DETERMINED BY AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOUBLE OR SINGLE-ENDED APPLICATIONS AND FIXTURE LABELS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS RETROFIT KIT.

•  Suitable for damp locations.

•  Suitable for use in enclosed luminaries.

•  DO NOT USE WITH DIMMERS.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

For your safety and the safety of others, please read the precautions carefully before installation. For Direct Replacement Mode (Mode 1)

1.   WARNING: Risk of shock. Disconnect power before installation.
2.   WARNING : Risk of fire, use only in place of fluorescent lamps specified on the label. Risk of electric shock. Suitable for damp locations.
3.  LED T8 lamp for use only with products described and installed in accordance with product specifications. LED T8 lamp to be operated with fluorescent electronic ballast.
4.  Not for emergency lighting.
5.  This product may cause interference to radio equipment and should not be installed near maritime safety communications equipment or other critical navigation or communication equipment operating between 0.45-30 MHz.

For Bypass Mode (Mode 2)

1.  The product should be installed by a qualified electrician.
2.  Switch off the power supply before commencing work, and make sure the correct connection is before power on.
3.  Suitable for use with the following emergency equipment; Satco Products Inc., Model S8000, 5W emergency LED driver and Model S8002, 10W emergency LED driver.
4.  This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
5.  The units covered by this report were intended to retrofit surface mount, Type IC or non-IC recessed mount Listed fluorescent luminaires that use maximum 4 straight tubular lamps, the minimum lamp compartment dimensions are 47 13/16L x 23 13/16W x 2 15/16H inches (1215 x 605 x 75 mm).

INSTALLATION: DIRECT REPLACEMENT MODE (Mode 1)

• STEP 1: Turn the power OFF.

• STEP 2: Remove the lens or diffuser (if applicable).

• STEP 3: Remove existing fluorescent lamps from the luminaire.

• STEP 4 : Bring LED lamp to luminaire and insert lamp pins into luminaire lamp holders.

• STEP 5: Rotate the LED lamp until the lamp locks in place. Ensure that the LED lamp front points away from the back of the luminaire. NOTE: install an LED T8 replacement lamp one for each lamp removed. STEP 6: Place the lens or diffuser back in place   (if applicable).

• STEP 7: Turn the power ON.

The below ballast wiring represents a typical configuration. The actual ballast wiring varies according to the ballasted model. It is not needed to change the socket (if in good condition) to operate double-ended lamps, regardless of the type of socket. Please make sure one side of the fixture is connected to Live (L) and the other side to Neutral (N). Double-ended Wiring Instruction
