INTRODUCTION

The PS700-LSR Laser Scanner complies with Safety Standard IEC 60825-1 for a Class I Laser Product and with the Center of Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) as applicable to a Class IIa Laser Product. DO NOT STARE INTO THE SCANNER’S LASER.

This manual primarily contains frequently used bar codes for programming the scanner. The bar codes allow decoding options and interface protocols to tailor a specific application. The configuration is stored in non-volatile memory and will not be lost by unplugging the scanner. The scanner must be plugged into the cash register to receive power. During programming mode, the scanner will acknowledge valid readings with a short beep and invalid readings with a long beep.

The PS700-LSR can connect to all Royal registers manufactured since 2005; however, some models require a brief initialization. A programmable bar code in this manual initializes the PS700-LSR so it can operate those registers. A list of models on page 4 helps identify which Royal registers require initialization and the adapter. A paper clip is included for detaching the cable from the scanner. Pull the paper clip apart and insert the point into the hole located near the connection. The point will press against the connector’s tab releasing the cable from the scanner. For support, call the Royal Support Center at 800-272-6229.
