AIR COMPRESSOR SAFETY WARNINGS

Know your air compressor. Read operator’s manual carefully. Learn its applications and limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards related to this product. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fi re, or serious injury.
Drain tanks of moisture after each day’s use. If unit will not be used for a while, it is best to leave drain valve open until such time as it is to be used. This will allow moisture to completely drain out and help prevent corrosion on the inside of tanks.
Risk of fi re or explosion. Do not spray flammable liquid in a confined area. Spray area must be well ventilated. Do not smoke while spraying or spray where spark or fame is present.
Risk of bursting. Do not adjust regulator to result in output pressure greater than marked maximum pressure of attachment. Do not use at pressure greater than 9.3 bar (135 psi).
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
Inspect tanks yearly for rust, pin holes, or other imperfections that could cause it to become unsafe. Never weld or drill holes in the airman’s.
Make sure the hose is free of obstructions or snags. Entangled or snarled hoses can cause loss of balance or footing and may become damaged.
Use the air compressor only for its intended use. Do not alter or modify the unit from the original design or function.
Always be aware that misuse and improper handling of this product can cause injury to yourself and others.
Never leave a tool unattended with the air hose attached.
Never point any air tool toward yourself or others.
Do not operate this air compressor if it does not contain a legible warning label.
Do not continue to use a tool or hose that leaks air or does not function properly.
Always disconnect the air supply, turn the unit off , and remove
the battery pack before making adjustments, servicing a product, or when a product is not in use.
Do not attempt to pull or carry the air compressor by the hose.
Your tool may require more air consumption than this air compressor is capable of providing.
Always follow all safety rules recommended by the manufacturer of your air tool, in addition to all safety rules for the air compressor. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
Never direct a jet of compressed air toward people or animals.
Take care not to blow dust and dirt towards yourself or others.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious injury.
Do not use this air compressor to spray chemicals. Your lungs can be damaged by inhaling toxic fumes. A respirator may be necessary in dusty environments or when spraying paint. Do not carry while painting.
Inspect hoses periodically. Replace damaged hoses. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
Check damaged parts. Before further use of the air compressor or air tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorised service centre.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of shock, fi re, or serious injury.
This equipment incorporates parts, such as snap switches, receptacles, and the like that tend to produce arcs or sparks and, therefore, when located in a garage, it should be in a room or enclosure provided for the purpose, or should be 45 cm or more above the floor.
Never store a tool with air connected. Storing the tool with air connected can result in unexpected fi ring and possible serious personal injury.
Protect your lungs. Wear a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.
Always wear eye protection with side shields. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.
This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the machine.
If any parts are damaged or missing, do not operate the product until the parts are replaced. Use of the product with damaged or missing parts could result in serious personal injury.
Do not attempt to modify the product or create accessories not recommended for use with the product. Any such alteration or modification is misused and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury.
Never exceed the air tool’s pressure rating as recommended by the manufacturer. When using this air compressor as an inflation device, always follow the maximum inflation guidelines stated by the manufacturer of the item being inflated.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY AND WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in
a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Do not exceed the pressure rating of any component in the system.
Protect material lines and air lines from damage or puncture.
Keep hose away from sharp objects, chemical spills, oil, solvents, and wet fours.
Check hoses for weak or worn condition before each use, making certain all connections are secure. Do not use if defect is found. Purchase a new hose or notify an authorised service centre for examination or repair.
Release all pressures within the system slowly. Dust and debris may be harmful.
Store idle air compressors out of the reach of children and other untrained persons. Air compressors are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain air compressors with care. Follow maintenance instructions. Properly maintained products are easier to control.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the product’s operation. If damaged, have the air compressor serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained products.
Keep the exterior of the air compressor dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Always use a clean cloth when cleaning.
Never use brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, or any strong solvents to clean the unit. Following this rule will reduce the risk of deterioration of the enclosure plastics.
To prevent accidental starting that could cause serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack from the product when assembling parts.
Remove the battery pack before starting any work on the machine.
Do not dispose of used battery packs in the household refuse or by burning them. Milwaukee Distributors offer to retrieve old batteries to protect our environment.
Do not store the battery pack together with metal objects (short circuit risk).
Use only System M18 chargers for charging System M18 battery packs. Do not use battery packs from other systems.
Never break open battery packs and chargers and store only in dry rooms. Keep dry at all times.
Battery acid may leak from damaged batteries under extreme load or extreme temperatures. In case of contact with battery acid wash it off immediately with soap and water. In case of eye contact rinse thoroughly for at least 10 minutes and immediately seek medical attention.
Warning! To reduce the risk of fi re, personal injury, and product damage due to a short circuit, never immerse your tool, battery pack or charger in fluid or allow a fluid to fl ow inside them.
Corrosive or conductive fluids, such as seawater, certain industrial chemicals, and bleach or bleach containing products, etc., can cause a short circuit.

SPECIFIED CONDITIONS OF USE

Air compressors are utilized in a variety of air system applications.
Match hoses, connectors, air tools, and accessories to the capabilities of the air compressor.
The air compressor may be used as follows for the purposes listed below:

• Operating light- to medium-duty air-powered tools
• Operating air accessories such as air nozzles and automotive tire inflators.

The compressor must be used in a suitable environment (well ventilated with an ambient temperature of between +5°C and +40°C) and never in places with dust, acids, vapors, explosive or flammable gases.
Do not use this product in any other way as stated for normal use.

OPERATION

Before starting operation check valve, tank drain valves or safety relief valve with air in tank – bleed tanks. Failure to depressurize tank could result in explosion and/or serious personal injury.
Do not use any attachments or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer of the product. The use of attachments or accessories not recommended can result in serious personal injury.
Do not attach any tools to the open end of the hose until start-up has been completed.
Do not use in an environment that is dusty or otherwise contaminated. Using the air compressor in this type of environment may cause damage to the unit.
Break-in period
Before first use, run the air compressor at zero tank pressure with the drain valve fully open for 30 minutes or until the battery pack is completely discharged, whichever happens first.
Use the air compressor (see also picture section)

• connect air hose to the coupler on the air compressor.
• choose the pressure on the pressure regulator.
• switch on the device on the auto on/off switch.
• wait until the set pressure is reached.
• use the air compressor for its intended purpose.

After using switch off the air compressor at the auto on/off switch, depressurize the device at the safety valve and remove the battery pack.
Overload function
Note: The air compressor will shut off during an electrical overload.
To reset the internal overload switch, turn off the air compressor and allow the unit to cool. Remove and then reinstall the battery pack before resuming operation.
Checking the safety valve
The safety valve should be checked before each day.

• Install the battery pack.
• Place the Auto On/Off switch in the on position and allow the tank to fill. The compressor will shut off when the pressure reaches the cut-out pressure.
• Place the Auto On/Off switch in the off position.
• Pull the ring on the safety valve to release air pressure for three to five seconds. Release the ring. The safety valve must reset and hold pressure before all compressed air is exhausted from the tank/pressure vessel.
• If air continues to escape once the safety valve is closed, contact a Milwaukee service facility for repairs.

Do not tamper with the safety valve. The safety valve will automatically release air if the air tank pressure exceeds the cut-out pressure. The safety valve must work properly when operating the air compressor. If the safety valve is stuck open, or does not open
when the ring is pulled, contact a Milwaukee service facility for repairs.

BATTERIES

Battery packs which have not been used for some time should be recharged before use.
Temperatures in excess of 50°C (122°F) reduce the performance of the battery pack. Avoid extended exposure to heat or sunshine (risk of overheating).
The contacts of chargers and battery packs must be kept clean.
For an optimum life-time, the battery packs have to be fully charged, after used.
To obtain the longest possible battery life remove the battery pack from the charger once it is fully charged.
For battery pack storage longer than 30 days:
Store the battery pack where the temperature is below 27°C and away from moisture
Store the battery packs in a 30% – 50% charged condition Every six months of storage, charge the pack as normal.

BATTERY PACK PROTECTION

In extremely high torque, binding, stalling and short circuit situations that cause high current draw, the tool will vibrate for about 2 seconds and then the tool will turn OFF.
To reset, release the trigger.
Under extreme circumstances, the internal temperature of the battery could become to high. If this happens, the battery will shut down.
Place the battery on the charger to charge and reset it.

TRANSPORTING LITHIUM BATTERIES

Lithium-ion batteries are subject to the Dangerous Goods Legislation requirements.
Transportation of those batteries has to be done in accordance with local, national and international provisions and regulations.

• The user can transport the batteries by road without further requirements.
• Commercial transport of Lithium-Ion batteries by third parties is subject to Dangerous Goods regulations. Transport preparation and transport are exclusively to be carried out by appropriately trained persons and the process has to be accompanied by
  corresponding experts.

When transporting batteries:

• Ensure that battery contact terminals are protected and insulated to prevent short circuit.
• Ensure that battery pack is secured against movement within  packaging.
• Do not transport batteries that are cracked or leak. Check with forwarding company for further advice

STORING THE AIR COMPRESSOR

• Place the Auto On/Off switch in the off position.
• Remove the battery pack.
• Disconnect air hose and air tool from the product.
• Depressurize the device at the safety valve.
• Drain air tanks according to instructions.
• Thoroughly clean air compressor and any accessories.
• Hoses may be stored using the strap on the top of the air compressor.

Leave safety valve open to allow moisture to completely drain out and help prevent corrosion on the inside of tank.

TRANSPORT

• Place the Auto On/Off switch in the off position.
• Depressurize the device at the safety valve.

Transport the air compressor by the handle as shown in the picture section.

MAINTENANCE

Use only Milwaukee accessories and spare parts. Should components need to be replaced which have not been described, please contact one of our Milwaukee service agents (see our list of guarantee/service addresses).
If needed, an exploded view of the tool can be ordered. Please state the machine type printed as well as the six-digit No. on the  label and order the drawing at your local service agents or directly at: Techtronic Industries GmbH, Max-Eyth-Straße 10,

TROUBLESHOOTING

Internal overload switch is tripped| Recharge battery pack
Take compressor to service centre.
Compressor will turn on when tank pressure drops to cut-in pressure.
Turn off compressor and allow unit to cool; remove and reinstall battery pack
