Product Usage Instructions
Step 1 Prepare cable for mass fiber splice cassette installation
Refer to Table 1 for Feeder and Pigtail Lengths. Cut the fiber cable according to the recommended lengths specified in the table. Only one rework is allowed per splice.
Step 2 Remove cassette cover
Using your thumb and finger, lift and pull the rear tab to disengage it and remove the cover.
Step 3 Prepare to place feeder fiber in the cassette
- Remove the spool and splice holder from the cassette. Discard the foam blocks.
- Extend the pigtail fiber beyond the front of the cassette.
Step 4 Install feeder fiber in splice cassette
- Insert the feeder fiber into a plastic sleeve and secure it using tape.
- Secure the feeder fiber using two cable ties.
- Trim off the ends of the cable ties close to the head. (d) Push the head downward until it is below the top of the cassette wall.
Ste p 5 Measure and trim pigtail and feeder
Extend the feeder fibers beyond the front of the cassette base. Measure and trim the pigtail and feeder to the specified cut length according to Table 1.
Step 6 Install splice protectors on all fibers to be spliced
Use the provided splice protectors and ensure their length does not exceed 45mm.
Step 7 Preparing to load splice protectors
Locate the P and F markings on the spool. When loading splice protectors, make sure the pigtail is exiting the spool through the side with the P marking, and the feeder is exiting through the side with the F marking.
Step 8 Splice feeder and pigtail fibers
Strip, clean, and splice the feeder and pigtail fibers following the recommended method.
Step 9 Load splice protectors into splice holder
- Load the splice protectors into the splice holder
- Use the spool fiber retainers to route the pigtail fibers counterclockwise until the feeder and pigtail fibers converge.
Step 10 Route fibers into base
- Position the spool to prepare for routing.
- Route the pigtail and feeder fibers counterclockwise, starting along the outer walls and working towards the center of the cassette.
- Line up the pegs on the cassette base with the mounting holes on the spool to finish routing.
- Insert the spool into the base and ensure all fibers are under the retaining fingers.
Step 11 Apply Cover
- Line the tabs on the cover with the slots near the front of the cassette base
- Lay the cover flat on the base and ensure all the tabs on the side of the cover and bases are lined up.
- With one hand holding the cassette base, push the cover forward with the other hand to engage the tabs
- Double-check that the rear tab is also engaged to prevent the cover from sliding off.
6 Port Mass Fusion Splice Cassette for Propel Panel
Prepare cable for mass fiber splice cassette installation.
Refer to Table 1 for Feeder and Pigtail Lengths. “Feeder Initial Length” is the recommended length of fiber to bring into the cassette. “Feeder Cut Length” and “Pigtail Cut Length” is measured from the front of the cassette and is the recommended cut length for the initial splice. A maximum of (1) rework is allowed per splice.
Remove cassette cover
Using thumb & finger, disengage rear tab by lifting and pulling backward to
remove the cover.
Prepare to place feeder fiber in the cassette
- Remove the spool and splice holder from the cassette, then remove and discard foam blocks.
- Unspool and extend pigtail fiber beyond the front of the cassette.

- Insert plastic sleeve into mesh sleeve and secure using tape. Insert feeder fiber into sleeve.
- Secure feeder fiber using two cable ties.
- Snip off ends of cable ties close to head.
- Push the head downward until it is below the top of the cassette wall.
Measure and trim pigtail and feeder
Extend feeder fibers beyond the front of the cassette base, then measure and
trim pigtail and feeder to specified cut length per Table 1.
Install splice protectors on all fibers to be spliced
Use provided splice protectors. Splice protector length should be 45mm
maximum.
