This product is not a household appliance and its design & manufacture was intended for use with a frequency corresponding to that of a leisure activity, and is not a substitute for a domestic product with similar function. 


IMPORTANT

Read these instruction carefully prior to use. Familiarized yourself with the appliance before connecting it to its gas container. Keep these instructions for future reference.


If you smell gas

  1. Shut off gas to the fridge at its source, if possible.
  2.  If odour continues immediately call your gas supplier or fre department.

To reduce the risks of personal injury or damage to property, follow basic safety precautions when using this fridge, including the following:

DO NOT operate any product which has been/ or appears damaged in any manner or after the product malfunctions, or is dropped. Return the complete: product immediately to your retailer for inspection, and if necessary, adjustment or repair.

This device may only be repaired by qualified personnel. Improper repairs can lead to considerable hazards.

DO NOT attempt to stand on top of the fridge. Doing so may result in bodily injury or damage to the fridge.

DO NOT operate the appliance on more than one source of energy at the same time.

DO NOT touch cold surfaces of the chiller panel when hands are damp or wet. Skin may stick to these  extremely cold surfaces.

The appliance is not intended for use by young children.

Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

DO NOT use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process.

DO NOT damage the refrigerant circuit

DO NOT use electrical appliances inside the storage compartment.

DO NOT operate or place any part of this product on o near any hot surfaces such as a gas flame, or electric element.

DO NOT use the product for other than its intended use as described in these instructions. The use of accessory attachments other than those recommended by the manufacturer may cause safety hazards.

When positioning the device ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.

All refrigeration products contain refrigerants (flammable cyclopentane), which by law must be removed from the product and recovered for proper disposal by qualified technicians prior to product disposal. If you are disposing of an old refrigeration product, check with the company handiing the disposal about what to do.

Keep ventilation openings in/on the device enclosure or in the in-built structure clear of obstruction.

DO NOT use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate defrosting process other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

DO NOT use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the device, unless those of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

DO NOT locate multiple portable socket outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance.

Disconnect the device from power supply:

Before each cleaning and maintenance After every use

Connect the device as follows: With DC cable to a DC plug socket in a vehicle O with AC power supply connection cable to AC mains supply.

Never pull the plug out of a socket by the cable.

If the fridge is connected to a DG socket: Disconnect the device and other power consuming devices from the battery before connecting a quick charging device.

If the device is connected to a DC socket: Disconnect the device or switch it off when you turn off the engine. Otherwise you may discharge the battery.

The cooling device is not suitable for transporting caustic materials or materials containing solvents.

Before starting the device, ensure that power supply line and plug are in dry condition.

Do not use electrical devices inside the device unless recommended by the manufacturer for the purpose.

Do not place the device near open flames or other heat sources (heaters, direct sunlight, gas ovens etc.).

Danger of overheating!

Ensure at all times that there is sufficient ventilation 50 that heat that arises during operation does not build up.

Make sure that the device is sufficiently far away from walls and other objects so that air can circulate,

Ensure that ventilation openings are not covered.

Do not fill the inner compartment with ice or fluid.

Never immerse the device in water.

LPG WARNINGS


FOR YOUR SAFETY

Failure to comply with these instructions could result in a fire or explosion which could cause serious bodily injury, death or property damage.

Turn off gas supply at the gas cylinder after use.

Parts sealed by the manufacturer or their agent must not be manipulated by the user. This Fridge is only to be used outdoors if running on LPG.

  • Do not test for gas leaks with an open flame.
  • If this information is not followed exactly a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.
  • If there is a leak on your appliance (smell of gas) immediately attempt to tun off the cylinder valve.
  • Remove the appliance to a well ventilated location away from any ignition source. Only check for leaks  outdoors using soapy water. DO NOT try to detect leaks using a flame.
  • Check for leaks by brushing a soap and water solution over all connections. If you are unable to correct the leak by tightening the connections, turn off the gas and contact customer service immediately.
  • Only use the hose assembly as supplied with this appliance for connection to the cylinder – DO NOT USE ADAPTORS.
  • After use turn the gas cylinder valve off.
  • Avoid twisting or kinking the hose.
  • Do ot store or use petrol or other flammable liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. Do ot store empty or full spare gas cylinders under o near this or any other appliance.
  • Never alter or modify the regulator or gas supply assembly.
  • This appliance must not be used indoors if using LPG.
  • Only use in well ventilated areas.
  • GARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD – USING THIS APPLIANCE IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE ON LPG MAY CAUSE DEATH. DO NOT USE IN CARAVANS, TENTS, MARINE CRAFT, CARS, MOBILE HOMES OR SIMILAR LOCATIONS ON LPG.
  • This appliance shall only be used in an above ground open-air situation with natural ventilation, without stagnant areas, where gas leakage and products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by wind and natural convection.
  • Ensure the appliance is set up on a level and stable surface.
  • Do not move the appliance while in use or when hot.

IF THERE IS A LEAK

  • Turn the cylinder off.
  • Ventilate the area to disperse gas.
  • Check all connections.
  • If leak persists, keep the cylinder upright. Keep skin away from any gas or liquid escaping from the cylinder.
  • Keep the cylinder at least 20 meters away from any sparks o ignition sources, including electrical equipment, camera flashes, engines and motors.
  • Disperse gas by encouraging maximum ventilation and spraying with a fine water spray.

IF THERE IS A FIRE

  • If the fire is at the appliance, turn the gas off at the cylinder. Smother the flames with a wet cloth, fire blanket or extinguish using a fire extinguisher.
  • If the fire is at the cylinder, or you can not get to the valve to turn the gas off, contact the fire brigade immediately.
  • Using a garden hose, direct the water to the middle of the cylinder to keep it cool. Try not to extinguish the flame. At least if the gas is burning, it won’t be able to build up pressure and explode.

Hose & Regulator Safety 

The regulator and hose assembly supplied with the barbecue are suitable for LPG only.

A gas regulator adjusted to have an outlet pressure of 2.75kPa s supplied for connection to the LPG cylinder.

The pressure regulator and hose assembly supplied with the barbecue must be used. Replacement pressure regulators and hose assemblies must be those specified by the barbecue manufacturer.

When connecting the hose and regulator assembly to the gas cylinder, take care to avoid unnecessary twisting of the flexible hose.

After the assembly has been secured, turn on the gas and check for leaks by brushing a soap and water solution over all connections.

If you are unable to correct the leak by tightening the connections, turn off the gas and contact the supplier immediately.

Always ensure the barbecue is kept away from flammable materials and the gas cylinder clear of any heat source.

When changing over from an empty gas cylinder to a full one make sure this procedure is carried out in a well ventilated location, preferably outside, away from people and away from any sources of ignition; such as naked flames, pilot flames, electric heaters/equipment.

Gas Cylinder Use & Safety 

This is a low pressure barbecue and must only be used with the hose and regulator supplied.

The gas cylinder should be filled by a reputable gas supplier and visually inspected and re qualified at each fillng.

Always keep cylinder in an upright position. Always close the cylinder valve when the appliance is not in use.

Do not subject gas cylinder to excessive heat.

NEVER STORE YOUR GAS CYLINDER INDOORS.

Cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well ventilated area out of reach of children, and must not be stored in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.

ELECTRICAL WARNINGS

To reduce the risk of electric shock,

DO NOT immerse or expose the product, flexible cord or plug to rain, moisture or any liquid or use the product near baths, basins or other vessels containing water or other liquids, or when standing in or on damp or wet surfaces. If any electrical product falls into water, UNPLUG it immediately; DO NOT REACH INTO THE WATER. Important: Prior to reconnecting to the power supply, the product should be inspected by a qualified technician.

DO NOT allow the cord to hang over the edge of a bench top where it may be grabbed by children or become entangled with a passer-by, resulting in possible personal injury and/or property damage.

Always operate the fridge from a power source of the same voltage, electrical rating (and frequency, when  operating on A.C. power) as indicated on the fridge identification label.

This fridge must be operated from an Earthed (Grounded) 3 pin A.C. power outlet when operating on A.C. power.

When moving the fridge, be careful not to allow the product to rest on the power cord.

DO NOT operate the fridge with a damaged supply cord or plug.

Avoid the use of extension cords. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, prior to its use, make sure the extension cord is safe to use, capable of handling the electrical load of the product (refer to product identification label) and has been checked and tested by your electrical supplier or a qualified technician.

To avoid becoming entangled in the cord, NEVER lay it through or along a walkway or thoroughfare.

Avoid the use of multi-outlet power boards for powering this appliance. To avoid overloading a power board and causing a possible hazard, plug the cord of the appliance directly into a permanently wired fixed Earthed (Grounded)

Power outlet.

NEVER unplug an appliance by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pul straight out from the power outlet

OPERATION

The fridge s suitable for use at home (AC main supply), or 12V AC supply socket of a vehicle, boat or caravan, or by LPG. Before use please read carefully read the instructions for connecting and shutting the appliance down when you are going to power off.

NOTE
Before starting your new fridge for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth.

NOTICE! Danger of overheating!

Ensure at all times that there is sufficient ventilation S0 that heat that is generated during operation can dissipate. Ensure that ventilation slots are not covered. Make sure that device is sufficiently far ‘away from walls and other objects so that air can circulate.

Place the fridge on a stable & firm foundation.
Make sure that ventilation slots are not covered and that heated air can dissipate.

NOTE
Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of temperature in the cooling compartment of the cooler.

Energy saving tips

Choose a well-ventilated location which is protected against direct sunlight.

Allow warm food or beverages to cool down first before placing them in the fridge to keep them cool.

Do not open the fridge more often than necessary.

Defrost the fridge once a layer if ice forms.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

For Optimum Performance Prior to travel:

Pre-cool the portable fridge at home on 230-240V mains power for 24 hours before use in a vehicle.

Products to be stored in the portable fridge should also be pre-cooled, or frozen if possible.

Travelling:
When in a vehicle operate the fridge from 12V DC only.
The fridge MUST NOT be operated on bottled gas when antivehicle.

At Destination:
Setup appliance on level ground, connect to power supply and operate according to the following instructions.

For best results in warm weather keep unit shaded from direct sun.

Minimize opening the door in very hot conditions.

Ensure there is sufficient space around the contents in the fridge for circulation of cold air.

Mains – 220-240V AC

  1. Plugin the 220-240V mains power lead to a power outlet and switch on.
  2. Tum the power knob to the plug symbol. Tum the 220-240V control knob to MAX position.
  3. After four hours, check the temperature of the fridges content, i too cold tum the control knob slightly anti-clockwise to set to the desired temperature.
  4. This setting may need to be adjusted if the ambient temperature changes or f the fridge lid is opened frequently.
  5. To tum off, tum the 220-240V control knob fully anti-clockwise, turn off switch at power outlet and remove plug.

Vehicle Battery Power – 12V DC

  1. Insert the two pin plug on the 12V lead into the 12V socket at the rear of the fridge and insert the DG plug into the vehicles 12V socket.
  2. Tum the power knob to the battery symbol. There is a fuse on the DC plug head to prevent the overloading of power.
  3. The fidget will operate at its maximum cooling; therefore there is no temperature regulation when operating on 12V
  4. To tum off, remove DC plug from socket.

IMPORTANT: We recommend the fridge only be operated when the vehicles motor is running.

Operating the fridge with the vehicles motor not running will rapidly decrease the battery charge level, which may result in the inability to start the vehicle.

LPG

The electronic ignition requires 1x AAA battery. Unscrew the battery cover on the left hand side of the fridge, at the base of the control panel and insert battery.

DO NOT turn control knob the other power sources (AC, DC) when you have gas connected.

Hose must not be longer than m.

Connection:

  • Connect the gas hose to the rear of the fridge and the regulator to the gas cylinder.
  • Position the gas cylinder so that the hose is not kinked or stretched and turn on the valve.
  • Check all gas connections for leaks using a soap solution. NEVER use a flame for this purpose.

Lighting

  1. Tum the power knob to the flame symbol.
  2. Totem knob to max.
  3. Press and hold down the ignition knob for 45 seconds to a minute to allow the gas to charge the system. You should hear a continuous ticking noise. Continue this process unit the pilot light is present.
  4. Continue to hold down the ignition for 20 seconds after ignition occurs.
  5. Check burner is alight by looking through the small hole at the rear of the fridge.
  6. If burner did not light check connections and gas cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds and then repeat the above steps.

Operation:

  1. Once the gases alight the fridge will operate at its maximum cooling; therefore there is no temperature regulation. A red needle visible in the gas indicator confirms operation.
  2. To tum off, tum control knob fully clockwise and ton off valve at gas cylinder.
  3. Disconnect gas hose before moving fridge.

MAINTENANCE & STORAGE

The portable fridge must be defrosted regularly for efficient operation.

If the appliance is to remain unused for a long period, disconnect, clean and leave the lid slightly open during storage to prevent unpleasant odor’s.

DO NOT use scouring pads, powdered cleaners, bleach or cleaners containing bleach because these products can scratch or damage the surface finishes.

When storing the fridge, remove both cords, loosely coil and store inside.

Make sure that the air inlet and outlet vents on the device are free of any dust and dit, so that heat can be released, and the device does not get damaged.

If left unused for long periods of time before use, turn upside down for 2-3 hours. this will remix the absorption system for optimal use.

DEFROSTING THE FRIDGE

Humidity can form frost in the interior of the cooling device or on the vaporizer. This reduces the cooling capacity. Defrost the device from time to time to avoid frosting.

Never use hard or pointed tools to remove ice or to loosen objects which have frozen in place.

To defrost the cooler, follow these steps below:

  1. Take out all contents out of the fridge.
  2. Tum off the fridge.
  3. Leave the cover slightly open until defrosted.
  4. Dry the inside of the fridge before returning
    contents.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. The fridge will not operate on 12v?

A. Does the battery have sufficient charge, also check the vehicles fuse for the accessory outlet.

Q. The fridge will not operate on Gas?

A. Check that the gas bottle is not empty. Check for leaks at all connections and re-light the burner.

Q. The fridge is difficuit to light when the gas bottle is connected or

changed?

A. When the gas bottle is disconnected the gas lines fill with air, once the gas bottle is reconnected it may take some time to purge the air from the system. Try holding the gas control valve down for 30-40 seconds before turning and lighting.

Q. The fridge is not very cold?

A. Check that the fridge is on a level surface, has good ventilation and is not overloaded. Make sure the fridge is not in direct sunlight.

Q. Whatis the difference between a domestic fridge and this absorption

fridge?

A. Absorption has no compressor, so s silent. Absorption takes longer to cool.

It is best to use pre-cooled food and to pre-cool absorption fridge for 24 hours before use.

Absorption fridges only cool to between 20-25 below the ambient temperature. It will take minimum 12 hours to achieve this.

Do not use in extremely low ambient temperatures on 12V DC as there is no thermostat to regulate the temperature.
