RUGGED RIDGE 11540.10 Bumper Center Section

Product Information

The product is a bumper for a Jeep vehicle. It includes various components such as the bumper center section, right and left end plates, D-rings, bolts, washers, lock nuts, and sheet metal screws. The product is designed to assist in vehicle self-recovery and should not be used as a towing point. The D-rings have a maximum work load straight line pull of 6.5 tons. The user manual includes instructions for installation and provides warranty information.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Disconnect the fog lights by twisting the plug in the rear of the fog lights. For newer model Jeeps, squeeze and pull the plug to disconnect the fog lights.
  2. Remove the original bumper.
  3. Install the original fog lights into the center section of the bumper from the back. Use the provided sheet metal screws to secure the fog lights.
  4. Install the bumper ends using 3 12mm washers and 3 12mm lock nuts per side. Tighten the nuts securely. If installing optional ends, substitute them for the end plates shown.
  5. For Part #11540.10 only, install a fair lead (not included) to the center section. The bolts for the fairlead should pass from inside the winch cavity, with nuts being installed on the outside of the center section.
  6. Prepare the winch and vehicle for installation as specified in the winch installation instructions. Align the mounting holes in the bumper with the winch mounting holes. It may be helpful to thread the winch cable through the fairlead before bolting it in
  7. place. Tighten the bolts securely.
  8. For all other winches, place the center section of the bumper onto the frame rails. Install the provided 12mm bolts, 12mm washers, D-rings, and 12mm lock nuts. Do not tighten any fasteners yet. Note that the top holes of the D-rings are further apart than the bottom holes.
  9. If installing front-mounted accessories such as a stinger or double X striker, D-rings will not be used. Refer to the specific instructions for those products at this point in the installation.
  10. For Part #11540.10 only, follow the additional instructions provided in the user manual for vacuum pump relocation for the winch bumper.

WARNING To avoid serious injury: Never exceed 6.5 ton work load straight line pull on D-Rings. Use only to assist in vehicle self-recovery; never use D-Rings as towing point. Inspect before use. Replace if damaged or distorted.
Read all instructions thoroughly before installation.

  1. Disconnect the fog lights by twisting the plug in the rear of the fog lights. For newer model Jeeps, squeeze and pull the plug to disconnect the fog lights.

  2. Remove the original bumper.

  3. Install original fog lights into the Center Section from the back. Use the (8) Sheet Metal Screws to secure fog lights.

  4. Install bumper ends using (3) 12mm washers and (3) 12mm lock nuts per side. Once all nuts have been started tighten nuts securely.
    Note : if installing optional ends, such as Stubby Ends (11540.23), High Clearance Ends (11540.24), etc., substitute them for the End Plates shown. FOR 11540.10 ONLY

  5. Install Fairlead (not included) to the Center Section.
    Note : bolts for Fairlead should pass from inside the winch cavity, with nuts being installed on the outside of the Center Section. FOR 11540.10 ONLY

  6. Different winches may require different mounting holes to be used (see image to the right for a general guide). For the Warn® Powerplant Winch spacers will be needed (part number: 11540.15). FOR 11540.10 ONLY

  7. Prepare the winch and vehicle for installation as specified in the winch installation instructions. Align mounting holes in the bumper with winch mounting holes. It may be helpful to thread winch cable through fairlead before bolting in place. Tighten bolts securely.

  8. Place the center section of the bumper onto the frame rails and then install the 12 mm bolts (8), 12 mm washer (16), D-Rings (2), and 12 mm Lock Nuts. Do not tighten any fasteners yet. When installing D-Rings, note that the top holes are further apart than the bottom holes.
    Note : if installing front-mounted accessories such as a Stinger (11540.13), or Double X Striker (11540. 25), etc. D-Rings will not be used. See instructions for those products at this point in installation.

VACUUM PUMP RELOCATION FOR WINCH BUMPER (11540.10)

NOTICE : This section applies only to 2012 and newer JK Wranglers.

Contents:

  1. “L” Relocation Bracket (1)

  2. “Z” Relocation Bracket (2)

  3. M6-1.0×30 Hex Head Bolt (3)

  4. M6 Flat Washer (7)

  5. M6 Nylock Nut (3)

  6. Remove the factory bumper and unplug the fog lights. Unbolt and remove the factory vacuum pump. Save factory M6 nuts, they will be reused later.

  7. Remove the front tab from the mounting bracket. Cut should be made 2 inches from the end.

  8. Spray exposed metal with rust-protecting black spray paint.

  9. Disconnect hose retainer clips, and remove zip ties holding air lines together to allow for easier movement of air lines.

  10. Attach the shorter end of the “Z” bracket to the rear factory mounting stud using the factory nut removed in step #1.

  11. Bolt pump to “Z” bracket using M6 hex bolt, washers, and Nylock nut. Rotate the pump so that it sits inside the lower cross member.

  12. Attach the short side of the “L” bracket to the pump using the M6 hex bolt, washer, and Nylock nut.

  13. With the pump centered, mark the mounting hole on the cross member.

  14. Drill mounting hole in cross member with 1/4” drill bit.

  15. Spray exposed metal with rust-protecting black spray paint.

  16. Secure “L” bracket to the outside of lower cross member using M6 hex bolt, washer, and Nylock nut.

  17. Inspect all air and wire lines for contact with the frame. If needed, zip ties can be used to reposition lines.

  18. Install the XHD Bumper Base following the previous instructions in this manual. Note: reconnect fog lights before attaching D-Rings and Bumper Base to frame.
