OPTION A: WALL SURFACE MOUNTING VIA INCLUDED SWIVEL/TILT WALL BRACKET

Note that the BRACKET ASSEMBLY consists of a SPEAKER-SIDE and a WALL-SIDE.

Mounting WALL-SIDE BRACKET:

Run the wiring from the power amplifier to the location desired for mounting the JBL COL loudspeaker.

Secure WALL-SIDE BRACKET to wall using the appropriate installer-selected attachment hardware, and using a level to ensure that the WALL-SIDE BRACKET is straight. Use both screw holes of WALL-SIDE BRACKET. Be sure that the TILT-SET SLOT is at the top and HOOK SLOT is at the bottom. After attaching to the wall, slide plastic TRIM COVER over bracket and snug to wall.
Diminution

Hardware for attaching WALL SIDE of Bracket to wall is not included. The installer is responsible for proper selection and use of mounting hardware and for properly and safely securing the bracket to the wall material.

Mounting SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET to COL speaker:

Identify the COL speaker’s two back panel mounting points, labeled on the back panel as “WALL BRACKET POINTS”. Remove the silicone caps from those points, exposing the threaded inserts.

Attach the 2-part SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET to COL speaker using two M6 x 20 mm bolts (with flat washers and lock washers). Recommended –– 3.5 N•m [+0.5/-0] (2.6 ft-lb [+0.4/-0]).

Assembly Instruction

WALL BRACKET POINTS (M6) are labeled on the back of the speaker

Connecting SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET to WALL-SIDE BRACKET to form SWIVEL/TILT BRACKET ASSEMBLY:

After sliding TRIM COVER onto WALL-SIDE BRACKET, loosely thread one of the M6 x 12 mm bolts (with flat washer and lock washer) into the bottom PIVOT hole of the SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET. This bolt becomes the PIVOT BOLT.

Slide COL speaker (with SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET attached) onto the WALL-SIDE BRACKET, sliding the PIVOT BOLT into the HOOK SLOT of the WALL-SIDE BRACKET. Make sure the flat washer and lock washer are on the same side of the WALL- SIDE BRACKET as the bolt’s head (and aren’t caught between the two brackets).
Assembly Instruction

After the column is being held in place by the PIVOT BOLT, insert the other M6 x 12 mm bolt (with flat washer and lock washer) through the TILT-SET SLOT and thread it into the press-fit nut that’s part of the SPEAKER-SIDE BRACKET.

With both bolts now engaged, tighten them. [Recommended torque 3.5 N•m [+0.5/-0] (2.6 ft-lb [+0.4/-0]).

To set a down-tilt aiming angle, loosen both bolts slightly, adjust the tilt of the speaker, and re-tighten the bolts.

    Installation Instruction

TERMINAL COVER – Remove the TERMINAL COVER, plug in-line terminal connector into chassis socket. Run wire(s) downward and re-attach terminal cover using 3 included screws, making sure pressure insert (for resistance against water ingress) presses down on wires. The TERMINAL COVER may be left off if no resistance against water is needed.

REFERENCE

GUIDE: Maximum Speakers Per Circuit Run – For systems where the wiring is looped through to subsequent speakers, the terminals support a maximum of 20 Amps of current for the input plus the loop out. As long as the cable gauge is large enough to support the current, the following chart shows the maximum number of speakers per cable run that the terminals support, based on: a) whether the speakers are set to low-impedance (8Ω) or highimpedance (ie, set at a Tap), and b) if high impedance, what Tap the speakers are set at.

Notes:

  1. The speaker cable gauge needs to also be able to support the number of speakers connected in looped-out circuit.
  2. For combinations of tap settings, system designer must compute the total current draw and ensure that it stays under 20A.
  3. Total impedance must stay above the minimum impedance capability of amp channel.
  4. Total power connected must be below the maximum power capability of amp channel.

COL600
Low-Impedance (8Ω) – Maximum 6 speakers
20W Tap – Maximum 70 speakers
10W Tap – Maximum 141 speakers
5W   Tap – Maximum 282 speakers

  • COL 600
110° total vertical coverage angle with aiming axis at -10°

HIGHLIGHTS

A combination of stylish design and outstanding performance features makes the COL600 slim column loudspeaker ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as conference/meeting rooms, lecture halls, retail stores, concourses, transit spaces, fill applications, audio for video, and other applications where slim, compact design and high performance is desired.

The COL600 is an elegant column loudspeaker that provides wide horizontal and narrow vertical coverage, with a built-in 10° down-tilt to the aim, providing optimum coverage of most listening areas while allowing the speaker to b installed flat to the wall.

The slim, compact design—winner of international design awards for industrial design excellence—complements virtually any architectural décor. Two 5-inch x 2.25 inch racetrack woofers provide maximum radiating area in a column form factor. The tweeter is located at the top of array for less obstructed coverage of the listening space and is aimed at a down angle, allowing down- tilted coverage aim, even with the cabinet flat to the wall. The shallow cabinet depth of 3.7 inches (93 mm) qualifies for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) projects when installed with the back of the cabinet flush to the wall. A 20-watt multi-tap transformer allows for use on either 70V or 100V distributed speaker lines, while the speaker is switchable for direct 8-ohm operation with power handling of 80W continuous (320W peak, 2 hrs.). The 70 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range delivers clean, clear sound for music or speech.

Versatile installation is accommodated by two included L-brackets, which can be installed on either the top and bottom panels (for +95° horizontal pan aiming) or on the left and right side panels. Both locations allow for close- to-thewall installation. In addition, a low-profile swivel (pan) / tilt wall bracket is also included, for adding up to 10° down-tilt to the cabinet aiming (in addition to the built-in 10° down-tilt aim when the speaker is installed flat to the wall). (Note that down-tilt may be limited by wall.)

The COL600 has an IP54 rating (per IEC60529) for protection against ingress of dust or water. The drivers are water-treated, the grille has a water-backing, and a cover is included to protect the input terminals. Available in black (JBL-COL600- BK) or white (JBL-COL600-WH).
