The Influence of Humidity on Health
- Excessive humidity indoors furthers the growth of undesired organisms. Humidity between 30 % an 50 % indoors prevents the growth of fungi, mold, and mites.
- Residence in rooms with mold infestations can damage the human immune system and further allergies and infections of the respiratory system.
- Excessively dry air indoors can dry out the skin, irritate the sinuses and throat and contribute to infections.
- In very dry rooms relative humidity can be increased with a humidifier.
- Active heating and ventilation contribute to a comfortable interior climate.
Dew Point Temperature
- Briefly press the SET button (2) to have the dew point temperature displayed.
- Press the SET button (2) again to have the room temperature displayed again.
- The dew point temperature (also known as dew point) is the temperature that must fall below, given constant pressure, to make water vapor fall out as fog or dew. At the dew point the relative humidity is 100 % and the air is loaded with water vapor. The more water vapor the air contains the higher is thedew point. Therefore the dew point can be used to determine the absolute humidity.
- Usual indoor air commonly perceived as comfortable of 22° Cand 40 % humidity has a dew point of approx. 8° C.
- The dew point temperature range of the hygrometer ranges from 0° C to 50° C.
- If the dew point temperature is over 50° C “HH.H” will be displayed, if the temperature is under 0° C “LL.L” will be displayed.
Cleaning and Storing
- Wipe the unit with a dry or lightly moistened cloth. Do not clean the housing of the weather station with abrasives or aggressive chemicals in order not to damage the surfaces.
- While cleaning, do not strongly press on the LC display.
- Store the weather station indoors in a dry place that is protected from dust, dirt and extreme temperatures.
- Store the unit out of reach of children and persons in need of supervision.
- Remove the batteries from the unit if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time.
