Danfoss 010101 Air Ventilation Units
Product Information
The Danfoss Air ventilation units are designed to provide fresh air into the house while extracting contaminated and humid air from kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, etc. The unit utilizes the heat from the exhaust air to heat the cold fresh outdoor air before blowing it into the house. The unit features a control panel for setting its functions and offers automatic demand management to regulate airflow based on the humidity of the exhaust air. Manual operation is also available, allowing users to manually select between four different ventilation levels. The unit is equipped with filters to remove dust and debris from the outdoor air and protect the heat exchanger and fans from dirt buildup.
Product Usage Instructions
- To operate the Danfoss Air ventilation unit, use the control panel to set its functions.
- For automatic demand control, ensure that the system is running in this mode. It regulates airflow based on the humidity of the exhaust air.
- To manually adjust the air volume, select between ventilation levels 0 – 4 on the control panel.
- Level 0: The unit is switched off. Use this level for odor nuisance from outside or emergency situations. Note that ifventilation is interrupted for more than 4 hours, there is a risk of condensation in ducts and unit with the risk of moisture damage. The unit will automatically start up at level 3 after 4 hours.
- Level 1: Can be used at night or during absences such as vacations. Ventilation is temporarily reduced when the home is empty.
- Level 2: Used for normal ventilation needs.
- Level 3: Used for normal to high ventilation needs. Suitable for activities like cooking, bathing, drying large amounts of clothes, having guests, and generating waste heat.
- Level 4: Use when a lot of air change is required, such as during and just after a party when the house needs to be aired out. Note that fan level 4 is only active for 4 hours, after which the system returns to fan level 3.
- The unit also includes a manual bypass function.
- Filters: The Danfoss Air ventilation unit comes with G4 filters on both the outdoor air and exhaust air side. An optional F7 pollen filter can be added to the outdoor air for finer particle filtration, particularly suitable for pollen allergy sufferers.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Important
- The ventilation unit must always be in operation!
- Beyond the 4 hours that the unit can be stopped from the control panel, it is not advisable to stop the unit. The risk of stopping it for a longer period of time is that humid air can condense in the pipe installations and in the ventilation system, risking water damage to the building structure, damage to the system and hygiene issues. It is therefore not recommended to turn off the ventilation, even for longer vacations. If necessary, turn the system down to ventilation level 1 in manual mode when you go on vacation.
function
- The unit blows fresh air from outdoor into the house.
- Contaminated and humid air is extracted from kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms etc. and passed through the unit, where it reuses the heat from the exhaust air to heat the cold fresh outdoor air before blowing it into the house.
Control panel
- The control panel is used to set the unit’s functions.
- The features are described in more detail on page XX
Automatic demand management
- When the system is running in automatic demand control, the airflow is regulated according to how humid the exhaust air from the home is. It is measured by a moisture sensor located in the ventilation system’s exhaust duct.
- At humidity levels above 45% RH, the system runs constantly on ventilation level 3
- At humidity levels below 45% RH, the unit slowly regulates down. If the humidity is much lower over a longer period of time, the unit will eventually go into fan level 1
- Automatic demand control is always recommended as it ensures that the air exchange matches the demand while preventing the home from drying out, especially during the winter months.
Manual operation
If you want a different air volume than the system provides during automatic
demand control, you can manually select between ventilation level 0 – 4.
Manual bypass
- The purpose of the bypass is to cool the home by directing the cool outdoor air directly into the home without heat recovery.
- During normal operation (when the bypass function is not activated), the system cools using automatic bypass control when the outdoor and indoor temperatures allow it, so there is usually no need to activate the manual bypass function.
- For homes with large south-facing glass facades with high heat gain, it may be necessary to activate manual bypass in early spring and fall, when the automatic bypass function does not open because the outdoor temperature is below 15°C.
- With manual bypass, the system delivers cool outdoor air directly to the home for 6 hours.
Filters
- The purpose of the filters is to remove dust and other debris from the outdoor air before it is blown into the house, and to protect the heat exchanger and fans from the build-up of dirt and debris originating from the home.
- The system comes standard with G4 filters on both the outdoor air and exhaust air side. An optional F7 pollen filter can be added to the outdoor air, which filters out even finer particles, especially suitable for pollen allergy sufferers.
CONTROL PANEL
OPERATION
Power saving
The light turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity to save power, with the
exception of the green LED.
Fireplace function
- When pressing Manual mode for 6 seconds, fan level 3 flashes on the control panel. The system will stop the extraction and maintain the supply air at fan level 3 for 15 minutes.
- Used when lighting the fireplace or stove to ensure that negative pressure does not draw smoke into the home.
Installer operation
When pressing Manel operation + Auto for 6 seconds, fan stage 3 lights up. The
system runs in fan stage 3 for one hour. During that hour, all other
functions, including humidity control, are overridden.
MAINTENANCE
General cleaning
- In order for the unit to run reliably, it is necessary to perform maintenance in the form of replacing filters and cleaning the unit.
- Keep the unit clean to ensure flawless operation and good hygiene. If the system is dirty, e.g. around the filter openings, clean it with a hard-wrung cloth with lukewarm water, possibly with dishwashing detergent.
Important: Chemical solvents must not be used!
Replacing filters
When the filter alarm appears on the control panel, it’s time for a filter
change.
ERROR MESSAGE
Alarm | Reason | Handling |
---|
Yellow LED (30 /min.) and beep sound.
The unit continues to run, but with additional power consumption and possible noise nuisance due to increased pressure loss in the dirty filter.
| Filters are in need of replacement| Change the filters and reset the filter
timer on the unit.
Red flashing LED (30/min.) and beep sound.
The unit continues to run in fail-safe mode, with the supply air fan constantly running at the lowest speed (stage 1) and the extract air fan constantly running at stage 1 or 2.
| One of the following components is faulty or has a poor connection:
•T3 extraction sensor
•T4 return sensor
Or
One of the two fans is not reaching the desired speed.
| Inspect and replace the sensor kit if necessary.
Check if the fans run smoothly and if the wires have lost their connection.
The unit is not running and there is no light in the control panel| The power
is disconnected.| Check that the power cable is fitted correctly.
There is water around/under the unit| A water trap has not been installed on
the drain as prescribed.| Check and install the water trap as prescribed.
| The drain nozzle on the aggrega or the drain hose is frozen.| Install frost
protection from the drain spout of the unit all the way to the drain, possibly
using a heating cable (accessory).
| The drain is blocked in the hose or in the drip tray inside the unit.|
Check that the drain is not blocked and clean with water and washing-up liquid
if necessary.
The unit makes abnormal noise| Fan level 4 is running (only intended to run
for a short period of time)| Turn the unit down to level 1, 2, 3 or activate
automatic demand control.
| The filter is blocked.| Check and change the filter if necessary
| The airway may be partially blocked| Check that air inlets and ducts are
not blocked by external elements.
| The unit is not regulated correctly.| Make sure the unit is properly
registered.
