MANUAL

Safety Notes and Operating

Dispose of used packaging material carefully or store it out of the reach of children. There is a danger of suffocation!
In case of insecurity or lack of knowledge, please have the automatic radiator air vent installed by a certified professional (plumber or fitter).
Make sure that the radiator air vent is installed correctly to prevent damages to the radiator, the heating system or the floor due to water leaking out.

Preparation

  • Before you remove the old radiator valve, eliminate the pressure, if possible.
  • Let the radiator cool down, otherwise there is a risk of scalding.
  • Check whether the radiator has a return valve (stop valve in the lower pipe). If yes, close both valves (flow and stop valve). The stop valve can be located under a cover plate. If present, first unscrew the cover plate and close the stop valve by using a suitable tool.

Installation

  1. Now slowly open the old radiator valve. Place a suitable bowl under the valve or have several cloths ready to collect the escaping water.
  2. Unscrew the old valve. This will allow a small amount of water to escape again.
  3. Now fit the automatic radiator air vent with a 19 mm open-end wrench. Then open the flow and stop valves again.
  4. Turn the knurled screw counter-clockwise by approx. 1 – 2 turns to vent the radiator.
  5. When water comes out, tighten the knurled screw again. The automatic radiator air vent now vents automatically.
Remember that water may leak when venting. Always place a suitable bowl under the radiator and turn the outlet opening (white adjusting ring on the valve) in the direction of the bowl.

Hints:

  • Only use a wrench to install the automatic radiator air vent at the highest point of the radiator. Do not use a screwdriver or similar for mounting.
  • The radiator air vent is self-sealing, you do not need hemp, Teflon tape, etc. for sealing.
  • When tightening the knurled screw, take care not to overtighten the thread.
  • direction is horizontally only, NOT vertically.
  • The automatic radiator air vent is not suitable for the installation on towel dryers or bathroom radiators).
  • If a few drops of water escape during initial operation of the automatic radiator air vent (knurled screw tightened), this is normal and no longer occurs during operation.
  • When the knurled screw (valve head) is fully unscrewed, a built-in non-return valve prevents water from escaping.
