SUBJECT:

AIR CONDITIONING STC SR00066DE AFT EVAPORATOR RETURN SCREEN INSTALLATION, VERIFICATION OF

HELICOPTERS AFFECTED:

Serial numbers 36087 through 36999 and 37002 through 37051 that had the Air Comm Corporation Air Conditioning STC SR00066DE installed at the Mirabel Facility.
[Serial number 37052 through 37999 will have the intent of this bulletin accomplished prior to delivery if an Air Comm Corporation Air Conditioning STC SR00066DE is installed at the Bell Mirabel facility.]

COMPLIANCE:

PART I: No later than 25 flight hours or 30 days whichever comes first after the release date of this bulletin.

PART II or PART III as applicable, no later than 300 flight hours or 180 days whichever comes first after accomplishment of PART I.

DESCRIPTION:

Bell has been made aware that the opening in the headliner for the aft evaporator air return may have been omitted on some helicopters that had the air-conditioning STC SR00066DE installed in conjunction with an interior kit at the Bell Mirabel facility. The absence of the aft evaporator air return opening in the headliner may affect the performance of the air conditioning system. PART I of this Bulletin mandates a verification for the opening required in the headliner and installation of the S-6510EC101 screen. If required, depending on the type of interior kit installed, accomplish either

Part II or Part III as described in the Accomplishment Instructions. PART   II is applicable to helicopters having the Deluxe Interior kit 412-705-500-147 and PART III is applicable to helicopters having the Utility Interior kit 412-705-510-111.

The engineering design aspects of this bulletin are FAA approved.

MANPOWER:

Approximately 4 man-hours are required to complete Part II of this bulletin and 1 manhour to complete Part III. This estimate is based on hands- on time and may vary with personnel and facilities available.

WARRANTY:

Owners / Operators of Bell Helicopters who comply with the instructions in this bulletin will be eligible to receive non prorated replacement part as applicable, listed in the MATERIAL section of the bulletin. The mybell.com portal allocates specific warranty entitlement for an aircraft by serial number. The Product Service Letter (PSL) number which will be listed below the bulletin number on the introduction page will be a required field when submitting a claim on the Bulletins Tab for replacement parts, labor, and/or freight. If you receive an ASB or TB that does not have a PSL number, then there is no warranty entitlement for that bulletin.

Labor entitlement: Part II $380.00

To receive parts, labor, under warranty:

  • Comply with the instructions contained in this Bulletin no later than the applicable date in the “compliance section”.
  • If there is a PSL number identified in the bulletin you will be required to enter this PSL number which will validate warranty entitlement for the selected aircraft. Please ensure that you use the Bulletin tab when you file your claim.

NOTE: Customers who fail to comply with the instructions in this Bulletin before 30 September 2022 will not be eligible for the special warranty listed above.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

PART I. Verification for presence of opening and screen in headliner or blanket as applicable.

  1. In reference to Figures 1 and 2, for helicopters with Air Comm Corporation STC #SR00066DE installed verify for the required opening in the headliner and screen installation.
  2. If the opening has been made and the screen has been properly installed, no further action is required. Make an entry in the helicopter historical service records indicating findings and compliance with this Alert Service Bulletin.
  3. If the opening in the headliner or blanket has been omitted, proceed with PART II or
    PART III as applicable.

PART II. For helicopters having the Deluxe Interior kit 412-705-500-147 (Figure 1).

  1. Prepare helicopter for maintenance and remove the center headliner.
  2. Locate the position of the 5.5 x 8 inches opening in the headliner and make the required opening (Air Comm Corporation STC #SR00066DE).
  3. Install the S-6510EC-101 screen with six AN525-10R screws, NAS1149F0332P washers and NAS9926-3L nuts. It is acceptable to use MS21042L3 or 90-132L3 nuts if available. Install headliner.
  4. Make an entry in the helicopter historical service records indicating compliance with this Alert Service Bulletin.

PART III. For helicopters having the Utility Interior kit 412-705-510-111 (Figure 2).

  1. Contact Product Support Engineering (PSE) to report the discrepancy and provide a picture of the center blanket with the helicopter serial number.
  2. PSE will contact the Warranty Department and upon approval, directives will be provided to order a replacement blanket under warranty.
  3. Once the modified blanket is available, install within the timeframe allowed in the COMPLIANCE section of this bulletin.
  4. Make an entry in the helicopter historical service records indicating findings and compliance with this Alert Service Bulletin.
