SAFETY

THIS SEAT DOES NOT GUARANTEE PROTECTION FROM INJURY IN ALL SITUATIONS. HOWEVER, USING IT APPROPRIATELY CAN REDUCE INJURY AND PREVENT DEATH.

Read carefully and understand how to use the product before using it. Pay utmost care to the highlighted warnings. Keep the instruction manual always together with the seat unit; in the rear part, there is a suitable storage area where this manual can be stored.

IMPORTANT:
The Huggy Multifix car seat is a restrain system homologated according to the Regulation ECE 44/04 for children weighing up to 13 kg (group 0+); when used alone or with the Huggy SHP base, it is classified as UNIVERSAL restrain system. When used with the Huggy Isofix base, it is classified as SEMI- UNIVERSAL restrain system – class Isofix E (ISO/R1: CRS Rearward facing infant).

Do not use the seat for children heavier than 13 Kg or where the child’s shoulders go beyond the upper slots of the straps. The Huggy Multifix seat is suitable for general in-vehicle use and is compatible with most, but not all, seat types. The use of the Huggy Multifix car seat on board of cars alone or together with the Huggy SHP base, is forecast only on vehicles equipped with 3-point safety belts with belt coiler, homologated according to the Regulation UN/ECE No.16 or other equivalent standards. Check on the car manual in which positions it is possible to install the seat unit. In case of doubt, contact the Manufacturer or authorized Retailer immediately.

In case of use of the Huggy Multifix car seat together with the Huggy Isofix base, verify the car models and the suggested use positions on the enclosed list of cars. Verify the compatibility of the restrain system with the provisions contained in the use and maintenance manual of the car. RISK OF FALLING! The child’s movements may cause the child seat to slide about. Never place the seat on a raised surface (e.g. tables, worktops, beds, etc.).

RISK OF SUFFOCATION!
If placed on a soft surface the seat could overturn and suffocate the child. Never place it on beds, armchairs or other soft surfaces.

Do not use the Huggy Multifix car seat after 5 years from the date of production indicated on the product; due to the natural ageing of the materials, it might not be complying anymore with the regulations in force.

Do not use the Inglesina Huggy car system, if:

  • it was subject to accident, even to a slight one. It may have been subject to invisible damages. The car system has to be replaced with a new one to assure the safety level.
  • it is damaged, not equipped with the instruction manual, or any component is missing. Contact the Inglesina authorized Retailer or Customer Care Service immediately.
  • if it is second-hand. There could be extremely dangerous structural damage.

Verify the correct hooking of all components of the Inglesina Huggy car system before each travel and/or when the vehicle is subject to periodical checks, maintenance, and cleaning. Other people may have tampered with and/or unhooked the Inglesina Huggy car system and may not have repositioned the same properly pursuant to the instructions. Avoid inserting fingers inside mechanisms.

Premature babies:
Born after less than 37 weeks’ pregnancy may be at risk in the child seat. They may have respiratory problems when sat in the child car seat. Consult your Doctor or hospital personnel to obtain information on the most suitable car seat/pram for your child before leaving the hospital.

SAFETY BELTS

WARNING!
Always secure the child with the safety straps provided (also when carrying by hand).

When the seat is occupied by very small children use a reducer so that straps can be adjusted to suit the child’s body. RISK OF STRANGULATION! If the straps are very loose the child could be strangled. Never leave the child in the seat if straps are loose or unfastened. The child’s clothing should not interfere with safety straps or buckles. If coupling/decoupling the car seat onto/from the stroller/frame with the baby inside the seat always make sure the belts are safely fastened. Bear in mind that doing these tasks with the baby in the seat can be more cumbersome and awkward. When placing the car seat onto the stroller/frame or removing it, always check that the baby or his/her garments do not get entangled.

USE AND INSTALLATION
CORRECT USE AND INSTALLATION CAN BE A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. THE CHILD SEAT MUST BE INSTALLED IN STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED. FAILURE TO OBSERVE INSTRUCTIONS /WARNINGS CAN SERIOUSLY COMPROMISE YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY.

Before assembling, verify that the product and all its components have not been subject to damages during transport. Should this be the case, do not use the product and keep it out of reach of children. Before using the product, for the safety of your child, remove and eliminate all plastic bags and elements belonging to the packaging and, in any case, keep the same out of reach of newborns and children. Do not use the product, unless all its components are properly fastened and adjusted.

Assembly, disassembly and adjustment operations must be carried out only by adults. Make sure that the person using the product (baby-sitter, grandparents, etc.) are aware of the correct operation of the same. Check that all devices that attach/tighten the seat to the frame/car/base/stroller (and vice versa) are secured correctly before and during use. When the seat unit is used as a Travel System, use only with Inglesina frames or strollers, always verifying its proper hooking. When the stroller is used, mount the seat unit only in the position facing the mum. The Huggy Multifix car seat complies also with the EN12790 standard; therefore, it can be used as a household rocking chair.

USE OF THE HUGGY MULTIFIX CAR SEAT ON BOARD OF CARS

Do not use the child seat in positions or configurations other than those illustrated in this handbook.

CAUTION!
Install the Inglesina Huggy car system ONLY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO THE DRIVING ONE. Never install it on seats positioned in opposite direction or transversely to the ordinary vehicle driving direction.

HAZARD!
The use of the Inglesina Huggy car system IS NOT ALLOWED ON SEATS EQUIPPED WITH FRONT AIRBAG! Make sure that reclining seats are blocked in vertical position pursuant to the instruction of the car’s manufacturer. During your journey, refrain from leaving unattended objects or bags in the car: make sure that they are stored securely as, in the event of an accident, they can cause injury. When using the Huggy Multifix car seat together with the Huggy SHP or Huggy Isofix base, before installing it, read the dedicated instructions carefully. When using the Huggy SHP and Multifix car seats alone or together with the Huggy SHP base, do not hook the seat units and/or base to the car using other belt crossings than those indicated in these instructions. The crossing/anchoring points of safety belts are highlighted by proper indications in light blue colour.

Check that all straps are always fastened and tensioned properly. Periodically check child seat straps for proper retaining performance.

  • During your journey, all car occupants must wear a safety belt, in compliance with the law in force in the country of use: in case of accident, they may unintentionally injure the child, even if the seat is used properly.
  • Never remove the child from the seat unit when the vehicle is moving; in case of need, stop as soon as possible in a safe place.
  • Check that the car seat longitudinal axis is always parallel to the direction of drive.
  • During your journey, refrain from leaving unattended objects or bags in the car: make sure that they are stored securely as, in the event of an accident, they can cause injury.
  • Check that straps with buckles are not twisted and are not trapped in the car door or the mobile parts of the car seat. Safe and appropriate driving behaviour is recommended: the child car seat is an effective restrain system but is not, on its own, sufficient to avoid severe injury in the event of a violent car crash. Please bear in mind that accidents, even those which occur at low speed, can be extremely dangerous for all car passengers.
  • Always keep the child seat fastened to the passenger seat, even when the former is empty.
  • When vehicle is fully occupied lighter passengers should sit in the rear and heavier ones in the front.
  • Car interiors can become very hot if the vehicle is left in direct sunlight. Cover the child seat with a towel when it is not in use to prevent its components from overheating.
  • During long journeys take frequent breaks as the child will tire easily.
