- The Darwin Infant child car seat is fastened on board of the car to the vehicle seat using a 3-point safety belt.

- The Darwin Infant child car seat is hooked to the Darwin Base i-Size and is fastened to the vehicle seat using all the ISOFIX connectors.
- Refer to the instruction manual of the Darwin Base i-Size for the correct installation procedure in the vehicle.

- The Darwin Infant child car seat is hooked to the Darwin 360° i-Size Base and is fastened to the vehicle seat using all the ISOFIX connectors. ·

THIS CHILD CAR SEAT DOES NOT GUARANTEE PROTECTION FROM INJURY IN ALL SITUATIONS.
HOWEVER, USING IT APPROPRIATELY CAN REDUCE INJURY AND PREVENT DEATH. -
Please read the user instructions carefully before you use Darwin Infant for the first time. Always keep the manual in the storage compartment at the front area under the seat, so you always have it at hand whenever you need it.

IMPORTANT: the Darwin Infant car seat, secured in the car with the 3-point seat belt, is a restraint system classified as “Universal belted”. It is approved in accordance with ECE Regulation R129 primarily for use on Universal seats as specified by the manufacturer in the vehicle owner’s manual. It is approved for use with children between 40 and 75 cm tall and a maximum weight of 13 kg.

Darwin Infant can also be installed with a 3-point car belt, approved according to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or other equivalent standards.

WARNING! The Darwin Infant child car seat is not suitable for use with a two-point or lap vehicle seat belt. Securing with a two-point vehicle seat belt could result in serious or fatal injuries to the child in the event of an accident.

IMPORTANT: the Darwin Infant car seat together with the Darwin i-Size base or together with the Darwin 360° i-Size base is an i-Size restraint system classified as an “i-Size Enhanced Child Restraint System”. It is approved in accordance with ECE Regulation R129 for use on i-Size compatible seats as specified by the manufacturer in the vehicle owner’s manual. It is approved for use with children between 40 and 75 cm tall and a maximum weight of 13 kg.

Consult a Doctor before using this product with premature babies or those with medical conditions.

WARNING! Always install the Inglesina Darwin Infant child car seat ONLY FACING IN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THE NORMAL DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF THE VEHICLE.

If your vehicle does not have an i-Size seat, installation is also allowed with the base Darwin i-Size or with the Darwin 360° i-Size base on ISOFIX vehicle seats that are listed in the Vehicle Type List enclosed to the manual of the relevant Base or available at inglesina.com website.

The base make it easier to fit the child car seat in and remove it from your vehicle safely.

Always check before buying the product whether it can be properly installed in your vehicle. If in doubt, consult either the child car seat manufacturer or the retailer.

Observe the instructions in the vehicle owner’s manual.
-
Do not use the Darwin Infant child car seat after 7 years from the date of production indicated on the product; the natural ageing of the materials may cause slight changes of the product’s properties.

Do not use the Inglesina Darwin Infant child car seat and/or the Darwin Base i-Size and/or the Darwin 360° i-Size Base if:
- they were subject to an accident, even to a slight one. They may have been subject to invisible damages. The product has to be replaced with a new one to assure the original safety level.
- they are damaged, not equipped with the instruction manual, or any component is missing. Contact the Inglesina authorized Retailer or Customer Care Service immediately.

Inglesina advises that child car seats should not be bought second-hand. They may have invisible damages that affect the safety performances.

Verify the correct hooking of all components of the Inglesina Darwin Infant child car seat before each travel and/or when the vehicle is subject to periodical checks, maintenance, and cleaning. Other people may have moved and/or unhooked the Inglesina Darwin Infant i-Size child car seat and may not have repositioned the same properly pursuant to the instructions.
SAFETY BELTS
- WARNING! Always secure the child with the safety straps provided when the child is in the product even when handling or carrying the product by hand.
- Adjust the backrest position in accordance with the height of the child so that the back straps are behind the shoulders.
- Check that any straps restraining the child is adjusted to the child’s body.
- Avoid putting thick clothes on your child under the belt.
- Never leave the child in the child car seat if straps are loose or unfastened.
- The child’s clothing should not interfere with the proper hooking of the buckle.
- For the child car seat to offer optimum protection, shoulder belts should fit the body as closely as possible.
- Check that straps with buckles are not twisted and are not trapped in the car door or the mobile parts of the child seat.
- It is vital for the safety of your child that the harness buckle works correctly. Malfunctions of the harness buckle may be caused by accumulations of food, dirt or foreign bodies.
USE AND INSTALLATION
- CORRECT USE AND INSTALLATION OF THE CHILD CAR SEAT CAN BE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH. THE CHILD CAR SEAT MUST BE INSTALLED IN STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED. FAILURE TO OBSERVE INSTRUCTIONS/ WARNINGS CAN SERIOUSLY COMPROMISE YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY.
- Before assembling, verify that the product and all its components have not been subject to damages during transport. Should this be the case, do not use the product and keep it out of reach of children.
- For the safety of your child, remove and eliminate all plastic bags and elements belonging to the packaging before use and, in any case, keep them out of reach of newborns and children.
- Do not use the product, unless all its components are properly fastened and 30 adjusted.
- Do not use the product if any components are broken or missing.
- Assembly, disassembly and adjustment operations must be carried out only by adults. Make sure that the person using the product (baby-sitter, grandparents, etc.) are aware of its correct operation.
- Do not insert your fingers inside the mechanisms.
- Check that all locking mechanism that attach/tighten the child car seat to the vehicle seat/to the base/to the chassis are secured correctly before and during use.
- When using the Darwin Infant child car seat together with the Darwin Base i-Size or with the Darwin 360° i-Size Base, before installing it, read the dedicated instructions carefully. Make sure the indicators are green before you drive.
- When the Darwin Infant car seat is used without the Darwin i-Size base or without the Darwin 360° i-Size base:
- check that all parts of the belt securing the car seat to the seat are tight.
- only use the belt routing points described in the instructions and marked on the seat.
- Do not use adapters other than those supplied with the product or in any case non approved by the Manufacturer.
- Check if there are any special requirements related to the use of restraint systems in the law in force in the country you are in.
- Do not make any alterations or additions to the child car seat without the approval of the Type Approval Authority. Unauthorized technical changes can cause the protective function of the child car seat to be reduced or completely eliminated.
- The homologation will be invalidated if you make any modifications to the product.
- Do not remove the adhesive and sewn labels. The removal of these labels could result in the product not complying with the law.
- Never use the child car seat without the lining and the shoulder pads. They cannot be replaced with others unapproved by the manufacturer as they are an integral part of the child restraint system and are essential for safety purposes.
USE OF THE DARWIN INFANT CHILD CAR SEAT ON BOARD OF CARS

WARNING! Always install the Inglesina Darwin Infant child car seat ONLY FACING IN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THE NORMAL DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF THE VEHICLE.

Do not use the car seat in positions or configurations other than those indicated in this instruction manual, the base manual and the Vehicle Type List.

Do not install it in vehicle seats that are not in the direction of travel or are transversal with respect to the direction of travel
-
HAZARD! Do not use Darwin Infant child car seat in vehicle seats where an active frontal airbag is installed. The front airbag explosive deployment may cause your child serious injury or even death.

For vehicle seats with side airbags, please observe the instructions in your vehicle’s manual.
-
Make sure that reclining seats are blocked in vertical position pursuant to the instruction of the car’s manufacturer.
-
Check that rigid items and plastic parts of the child car seat are located and installed so that they are not liable, during everyday use of the vehicle, to become trapped by a movable seat or in a door of the vehicle.
-
During your journey, refrain from leaving unattended objects or bags in the car: make sure that they are stored securely as, in the event of an accident, they can cause injury.
-
Always keep the child car seat fastened to the vehicle seat, even when the child car seat is empty.
-
Protect the product from dust or residues which may hinder the correct operation of devices.
-
During your journey, all car occupants must wear a safety belt, in compliance with the law in force in the country of use: in case of accident, they may unintentionally injure the child, even if the child car seat is used properly.

Safe and appropriate driving behaviour is recommended: the child car seat is an effective restrain system but is not, on its own, sufficient to avoid severe injury in the event of a violent car crash. Please bear in mind that accidents, even those which occur at low speed, can be extremely dangerous for all car passengers.

Never remove the child from the child car seat when the vehicle is moving; in case of need, stop as soon as possible in a safe place.

When travelling, never hold your child in your arms or allow him to sit outside the child car seat.

The driver should avoid any adjustment of the child car seat by the driver is prohibited while travelling. In case of need, stop as soon as possible in a safe place.

Never leave your child unattended in the vehicle.

When getting out of the car, even for a short time, ensure that you always take your child with you.

Pay attention to other vehicles when placing the child in the car seat.

Car interiors can become very hot if the vehicle is left in direct sunlight. Cover the child car seat with a towel when it is not in use to prevent its components from overheating and cause injuries to the delicate skin of your child.

During long journeys take frequent breaks as the child will tire easily. Also ensure that you do not leave your baby for too long in the child car seat even when not in the vehicle.

Make sure all passengers are informed about how to release your child in case of emergency.
USE OF THE DARWIN INFANT CHILD CAR SEAT AS SEAT UNIT ON INGLESINA CHASSIS
- The Darwin Infant child car seat is intended also to be used as seat unit in Travel System with specific chassis in accordance with the EN1888 standard.
- Only use parent facing and exclusively with Inglesina approved chassis.
- In case of doubt, visit the website inglesina.com or refer to an Authorized Retailer or to the Inglesina Customer Care Service.
- Always check that the child car seat is firmly connected to the chassis by pulling the handle upwards.
- Carefully read the instructions concerning the use of the product where the child car seat will be attached.
- If coupling/decoupling the child car seat onto/from the chassis with the baby inside the child car seat always make sure the belts are safely fastened. When placing the child car seat onto the chassis or removing it, always check that the baby or his/her garments do not get entangled.
- Never leave your child unattended.
- Ensure that all the locking devices are engaged before use.
- To avoid injury, ensure that your child is kept away when unfolding and folding this product.
- Do not let your child play with this product.
- Always use the restraint system.
- Check that the child car seat attachment devices are correctly engaged before use.
- This product is not suitable for running or skating.
- Never place the product close to stairs or steps.
- Use only on a flat, stable and dry surface.
- Do not leave the product on a slope with the baby inside, even if the brake is engaged. Brake efficiency is limited on high gradients.
- Never use the product on stairs or escalators with the baby inside, as you may suddenly lose control of the product or the child may fall out. Also take extra care when going up or down a curb or other uneven surfaces.
- Do not open, fold or disassemble the chassis with the baby inside.
- In any case, be particularly careful when performing these tasks with the child nearby.
- Do not leave the baby in the product when travelling on transport means (eg. train, bus, etc.).
- Never lift or push the stroller by the child car seat.
- Always apply the brake before fitting the child car seat onto the chassis or removing it.
USE OF DARWIN INFANT AS HOUSEHOLD ROCKING CHAIR
- The Darwin Infant child car seat is intended also to be used as a household reclined cradle in accordance with the EN12790 standard.
- IMPORTANT! READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
WARNING!
- Never leave the child unattended.
- Stop using the product when the child starts trying to sit up.
- Never use this product on an elevated surface (e.g. a table).
- Always use the restraint system.
- Never let the child sleep in this product. This product does not replace a cot or a crib. Should the child fall asleep, then it should be placed in a suitable cot or crib.
- Do not use the product if any components are broken, torn or missing.
- FALL HAZARD: Child’s movement can slide the product. Never place product on countertops, tables, steps, other elevated surfaces or close to stairs. Always use on a flat, stable and dry floor.
- SUFFOCATION HAZARD: NEVER use on a soft surface (bed, sofa, cushion), as seat may tip over and cause suffocation.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS
- Inglesina Baby S.p.A. guarantees that every article has been designed and manufactured in compliance with the general product quality and safety standards/ regulations in force in the European Union and the countries it is marketed in.
- Inglesina Baby S.p.A. guarantees that during and after the manufacturing process, every product has undergone various quality controls. Inglesina Baby S.p.A. guarantees that, at the time of purchase from the Authorised retailer, every product had no installation or manufacturing defects.
- This warranty does not invalidate the rights acknowledged to the consumer by the applicable national legislation, which may vary depending on the country in which the product was purchased and the provisions of which, in the event of a contrast, prevail over the contents of the warranty herein.
- In the event of material or manufacturing defects detected at the time of purchase or during normal use, as described in the relevant instruction manual, Inglesina Baby S.p.A. grants a consecutive 24-month warranty from the date of purchase.
- The warranty is only valid in the country where the product was purchased and if it was purchased from an Authorised Retailer.
- The warranty acknowledged is valid for the first owner of the product purchased.
- The warranty covers the replacement or repair free of charge of parts with factory defects. Inglesina Baby S.p.A. reserves the right to decide at its sole discretion whether to apply the warranty via the repair or the replacement of the product.
- To apply the warranty, the product serial number needs to be presented, along with a copy of the receipt issued at the time of purchase of the product, making sure that the date of purchase is indicated in a clearly legible form.
- This warranty will be automatically made null and void in the event that:
- the product is used for purposes that are not expressly indicated in the relevant instruction manual.
- the product is not used in compliance with the relevant instruction manual.
- the product has been repaired by unauthorised and unaffiliated Customer Care centres.
- the structural or textile part of the product has been modified and/or tampered with, without prior expressed authorisation by the manufacturer. Any modifications made to the products relieve Inglesina Baby S.p.A. from any liability.
- the defect is due to negligent or careless use (e.g., violent shocks to the structural parts, exposure to aggressive chemical substances, etc.).
- the product presents normal wear (e.g., wheels, moving parts, fabrics) due to prolonged and continuous use.
- the product has been damaged, even accidentally, by the owner himself/herself or by third parties (for instance when it has been sent as luggage in air freight or using other means).
- the product is sent to the retailer for assistance without the original receipt and/ or without the serial number or when the date of purchase on the receipt and/or the serial number are not clearly legible.
- Any damage caused by the use of accessories not supplied and/or not approved by Inglesina Baby, shall not be covered by the warranty.
- Inglesina Baby S.p.A. shall not be held liable for any damage to property or injuries to persons resulting from the improper and/or misuse of the product.
- After the warranty period has expired, the Company guarantees customer care service for consideration for its products for a maximum period of four (4) years from the date said products were placed on the market; after this period, assistance interventions will be assessed case by case.
SPARE PARTS / AFTER SALES SERVICES
- Regularly inspect the safety devices to ensure the product’s functionality over time. Do not use the product in the event of any malfunction and/or anomaly. Promptly contact your Authorised Retailer or the Inglesina Customer Care service.
- Do not use spare parts or accessories not supplied and/or not approved by Inglesina Baby S.p.A..
WHAT TO DO IF YOU REQUIRE ASSISTANCE
- If you require assistance for your product, immediately contact the Inglesina Retailer that sold it to you, with the “Serial Number” relative to said object ready on hand.
- It is the Retailer’s duty to contact Inglesina to assess the best suited intervention case by case and then provide the subsequent indications.
- The Inglesina Customer Care Service can provide any information, following written request by filling out the form provided on the website: inglesina.com – Warranty and Assistance section.
HINTS FOR CLEANING AND MAINTAINING THE PRODUCT
- The child car seats could leave traces on the vehicle seats, due to the measures taken to install it firmly in compliance with safety standards. This product was designed to minimize this effect as much as possible. The manufacturer cannot be considered liable for eventual traces deriving from normal use of the child car seat.
- Never force any mechanisms or moving parts; in case of doubt, check the instruction first.
- Store the product in a dry place.
- Protect the product against weather agents, water, rain or snow; moreover, continuous and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause changes in the colour of many materials.
- Clean the plastic and metal parts with a damp cloth or with a mild detergent; do not use solvents, ammonia or benzine.
- Carefully dry metal parts after any contact with water to prevent the formation of rust.
HINTS FOR CLEANING THE TEXTILE LINING
- It is recommended to wash the lining separately from other items.
- Periodically revive the fabric parts using a soft clothes brush.
- Observe the instructions for washing the textile lining given on the dedicated labels.

- Dry the textile lining completely before using or storing it.
- CAUTION! Never wash the straps and buckle; just wipe them with a damp cloth.

HANDLE ADJUSTMENT
fig. 4 To adjust the child car seat handle (A), press simultaneously the two
buttons (A1) and rotate it to the wished position. Make sure that the two
buttons (A1) completely come out, after having arranged the handle to the
proper position.

To obtain the “car” configuration, rotate the handle to the most forward
position.
HEADREST AND HARNESS ADJUSTMENT
fig. 6 To loosen the harness, use the adjustment button (C2) by putting a
finger in the slot in the seat (C3) and pulling the belts inside the infant
seat at the same time.
fig. 7 Release the central buckle for the harness, using the red button
(C1), and settle the child in the child car seat with their back and legs
entirely in contact with the seat.
fig. 8 The harness and headrest (D) can be adjusted in 6 positions
simultaneously to adapt to the growth of the child. To adjust the height, use
the rear adjustment lever (D1) and at the same time raise or lower to the
correct position, which can be identified by the Click.
fig. 9 Overlap the two ending parts (C6) and insert them in the buckle
(C5) until hearing the blocking CLICK. Verify the correct closing by pulling
the ends of the belts.
fig. 10 Let the belts adhere to the child’s body, by pulling its end on
the regulator (C4). A finger should not pass between the belts and the child’s
body. To loosen the same, see Fig. 6.

ADAPTER

USE OF THE HOOD
The child car seat is equipped with an adjustable hood (E).
fig. 13 To attach it, insert the ends (E1) in the dedicated slots (E2)
and then insert the various attachments (E3) around the structure.
fig. 14 To adjust it, simply accompany it to the wished position.
fig. 15 To remove the hood (E), extract it firmly from the structure.
CAUTION: the hood shall not be used to lift the child car seat: hazard of
detachment.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
It is recommended to remove the lining periodically to provide for its correct
maintenance.

fig. 17 Pull the rear belts out of their protection. Then remove the
headrest cover from the frame, taking care to pass the rear straps through the
slots provided.
fig. 18 Remove the lining from the structure, freeing the attachments
(J1) from their housings.
fig. 19 Finally, pull the crotch strap (C) first out of its protection
and then remove the entire lining.
INSTALLING THE SEAT IN THE
CAR Verify that on the vehicle seat there are not any items that may hinder
the correct leaning of the Darwin Infant child car seat.
Verify that the backrest is in vertical position and the vehicle seat where
the child car seat has to be installed is NOT EQUIPPED WITH ACTIVE FRONT
AIRBAG.
Install the Darwin Infant car seat only FACING IN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO
THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL.

CAUTION: make sure that the belts are well stretched and not twisted.
Only in this way it is possible to obtain the perfect anchoring of the Darwin
Infant car seat.
When the child car seat is used without the base, it is advisable to check
that the hatched red line on the symbol (K) on the side of the child car seat
is more or less parallel to the ground.
INSTALLING THE CAR SEAT WITH THE DARWIN i-SIZE BASE
Install the Darwin i-Size Base on board of the car referring to the dedicated
manual. fig. 24 Install the Darwin Infant car seat by inserting the 2 tubes
(K1) in the housings (L) in the base until the CLICK indicating attachment is
heard on both sides. fig. 25 The Darwin Infant car seat is attached when the
dedicated indicators (L1) change from red to green.
Check that the car seat is correctly attached by trying to lift it.
fig. 26 Once the Darwin Infant car seat is attached to the Darwin i-Size base,
press the two buttons (A1) simultaneously and rotate the handle of the car
seat forwards as far as it turns. Make sure that the two buttons (A1) come out
completely, after arranging the handle in position.
REMOVING THE CAR SEAT FROM THE DARWIN i-SIZE BASE

The Darwin Infant car seat can be removed in two ways.

INSTALLING THE CAR SEAT WITH THE DARWIN 360° i-SIZE BASE
Install the Darwin 360° i-Size Base on board of the car referring to the
dedicated manual.
The Darwin 360° i-Size base can rotate to facilitate positioning of the child
and installation of the car seat in the car.

button (Q) is located at the front of the seat (child’s feet), then couple
both slots (K2) on the side latch fittings, to the reference (P1) on the
installation seat, then press down until the clicks are heard.

i-Size base and rotating against the driving direction, press the two buttons
(A1) simultaneously and rotate the handle of the car seat forwards as far as
it turns. Make sure that the two buttons (A1) come out completely, after

CAUTION: transporting a child in a car is only permitted when all
indicators on the base have turned from red to green.
REMOVING THE CAR SEAT FROM THE DARWIN 360° i-SIZE BASE

The Darwin Infant car seat can be removed in two ways.

Darwin Infant car seat from the Darwin 360° i-Size base, gripping it with the
handle.

release button (Q) and at the same time lift the Darwin Infant seat off the
Darwin 360° i-Size base.
USE WITH INGLESINA CHASSIS
For the correct use of the Inglesina chassis, refer to the dedicated manuals.

Holding the Darwin Infant child car seat by the handle, place it on the
chassis on the central pin, exclusively facing the parent, making sure that
the brakes are always properly engaged and that there is not any carrycot or
seat unit installed. Then, push the child car seat downwards until hearing
both CLICK sounds indicating the occurred hooking.
CAUTION: always make sure that the child car seat is properly hooked
before use. fig. 41 To remove the child car seat, act on the rear lever (H)
and simultaneously lift it holding it by the handle.
