When your device is connected to your car via Bluetooth, Driving Monitor shows you the amount of screen time you use while driving, excluding apps you may use for navigation. This can help you monitor your habits and focus on driving.

DOLBY ATMOS

  • Settings > Sounds and vibration > Sound quality and effects > Dolby Atoms

This sound technology amplifies the sound on your phone’s loudspeaker and connected devices when you stream a compatible movie, listen to music, or play a game with sound so that you get a clearer audio experience similar to 3D audio. You can adjust the settings from your headphones or connected speaker.

DUAL MESSENGER

  • Settings > Advanced features > Dual Messenger

This feature lets you set up and run a clone of compatible messaging apps on your phone so that you can use two different accounts for the same app. This can help keep your personal and business communications separate on your device. You can create a separate contacts list for each version of the app or share one main contacts list. If you delete the main app, the clone will also be uninstalled. Not all messaging apps are compatible.

MODES AND ROUTINES

  • Settings > Modes and Routines

These tools let you perform tasks and change device settings automatically based on your actions. Modes can be enabled manually or triggered by actions. Your device includes several built-in modes, such as Sleep, Driving, Exercise, Relax, and Work. Once you select a mode, your device settings will change automatically to reflect that mode. You can also create modes based on your needs.
Routines are “If this / Then that” actions that are activated when set criteria are met. You can adjust settings, control apps, and initiate other device actions based on location, time, or when a specific “If this” action is performed. You can also manually set up routines based on where you are and what you’re doing.

SAFETY & EMERGENCY

  • Settings > Safety and emergency

Medical Info: Store your medical information on your device
so that medical personnel can access it from your Lock screen without requiring your password or an internet connection.

Emergency sharing: In an emergency, quickly make a call or send an SMS text with your location to a designated contact. You can include a front/rear camera picture and/or a five-second audio. Once this feature is activated, and you designate a contact, tap the Side key quickly five times to send the SOS message. Default mode is OFF.

Emergency Location Services (ELS): This Google tool allows first responders to identify the location of an emergency call/text from an Android device faster and more accurately, even if the device’s Location setting is set to OFF. Your phone must be running Android 10 or later. Locations are sent directly to the emergency service contacted and are not viewed by Google.

SECURITY

Screen Lock

  • Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock type

You should secure your device using a Screen lock to help prevent someone from accessing your device including your personal data, apps, and email accounts. Screen lock types offer different levels of security and include a swipe, a pattern, a numeric PIN, a password, Face recognition or Fingerprint. You can also set a Smart Lock to keep your device unlocked when it’s on you, near other trusted devices, or in a trusted location.

Security and Privacy

  • Settings > Security and privacy

Find My Mobile: Log in to your Samsung account from findmymobile.samsung.com and remotely perform various functions to keep your information secure and identify your phone’s last known location. Default setting is ON. Google Location service must also be ON.

App security: Using Google Play Protect, you can run a safety check on Play Store apps before you download them, regularly check app updates and your device for security risks, and receive a notification if any threats are detected. Default setting is ON.

Privacy: Some apps, like the camera, microphone, or location services, access features of your device when they are running in the background. You can set your device to notify you when access is requested for each category you select.

Biometrics

  • Settings > Security and privacy > Biometrics

Face recognition: Unlock the screen by simply raising your phone and looking at the screen. You will need to set a Screen Lock type and allow Face recognition to take pictures and record video to complete the set-up process. The data used to recognize your face will be saved only to your phone and will not be backed-up.

Fingerprints: The fingerprint scanner is built into the Side key on the right edge of the device and can be used by the device to identify you. Use your registered fingerprint to unlock the screen, view locked content, confirm a purchase or sign into an app that supports fingerprint ID. Fingerprint data will be saved only to your phone and will not be backed-up.

Other Security Settings

  • Settings > Security and privacy > Other security settings

Set up SIM card lock: Information on your SIM card can be compromised if you place your SIM in another device. To help protect it, you can create a PIN that will lock access to the SIM card.

Encrypt SD Card: Your device allows for an optional microSD of up to 1TB for additional storage. You can encrypt it so that it can only be read on your device once you enter the password you create. You must decrypt it before initiating a Factory data reset.

Pin windows: Pin an app to the screen and block all other functions of the phone. This feature is very helpful if you want to lend your phone to another user, such as a child, so that they can only use the pinned app.

WI-FI

  • Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > On/Off

Wi-Fi is a wireless network technology that provides high-speed internet and network connections without using the data allocated to your service plan. Connecting to a public Wi-Fi network can leave your personal data vulnerable, so it is important that you connect to secure networks and set up passwords as necessary.

Wi-Fi Direct

  • Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > 3 dots > Wi-Fi Direct

Share data between Android devices even if they are from different manufacturers. You will not need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
