GPS DM-2 DM2 2,400 CFM Duct Mounted Auto Cleaning Ionization System
Product Information
- The GPS Air Start-up Checklist is a set of instructions for installing and starting up the GPS DM-2 Ionizer. The DM-2 Ionizer is a device used for air purification and ionization in HVAC systems.
- The DM-2 Ionizer is manufactured by GPS and its model number is DM-2. It is important to record the serial number of the specific Ionizer being installed. The Ionizer can be used with optional accessories such as the DM-S (Saddle) and PS-2 (Power Supply).
- The installation data includes recording the name of the installation company and technician, the date of installation/startup, the ID of the nearest HVAC system component, the incoming power level, and the voltage output at the DM-2 emitters.
- The DM-2 Ionizer can be mounted in two ways: standard installation mounting ring for flat walls or optional installation using the DM-S Saddle for round ducts.
- Once the installation is complete, the startup process begins. This involves powering on the DM-2 Ionizer, ensuring continuous power supply, checking the green power LED for illumination, measuring voltage at the DM-2 emitters, visually inspecting for dust or dirt on the emitters, verifying ion density output, and confirming proper attachment to the mounting ring or saddle.
Product Usage Instructions
Follow these steps to install and start up the GPS DM-2 Ionizer:
EQUIPMENT + INSTALLER DATA MODEL VERIFICATION:
- Record the manufacturer as GPS.
- Record the model number as DM-2.
- Record the serial number of the Ionizer.
- Check if accessories DM-S (Saddle) and PS-2 (Power Supply) are included.
INSTALLATION DATA:
- Record the name of the installation company and technician.
- Record the date of installation/startup.
- Record the ID of the nearest HVAC system component.
- Record the incoming power level.
- Record the voltage output at DM-2 emitters.
INSTALLATION MECHANICAL MOUNT | Standard Installation Mounting ring for flat wall:
- Confirm that the DM-2 is installed downstream of all filters in the system.
- Ensure a 4-hole is cut into the wall where the product will be installed.
- Orient the mounting ring correctly using a bubble level and attach it securely with fasteners.
- Ensure the mounting ring is secure.
MECHANICAL MOUNT | Optional Installation DM-S Saddle For Round Duct:
- Confirm that the DM-2 is to be installed downstream of all filters in the system.
- Ensure a 4.5-hole is cut into the duct where the product will be installed.
- If using clamps/ties:
- Select and install appropriately sized cable ties or band clamps in the saddle eyelets.
- Secure the clamps/ties so that the saddle bends to conform to the diameter of the duct.
- Ensure the saddle is fitted tightly, compressing the foam and feeling secure.
- If using fasteners:
- Use #6×1 self-piercing sheetmetal screws to secure the saddle.
- Use a minimum of 8 fasteners.
- Ensure the saddle is fitted tightly, compressing the foam and feeling secure.
STARTUP:
- Power on the DM-2 Ionizer.
- Ensure the DM-2 is continuously powered and not configured to cycle with the HVAC duty.
- Check that the green power LED is illuminated.
- Measure the voltage at the DM-2 emitters (both polarities) and confirm it is above the minimum target level of 3kV.
- Visually inspect the carbon fiber emitters for dust or dirt after cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol during installation.
- With the DM-2 operational, verify the ion density output using the AIC2 ion meter, ensuring it meets the combined polarity target of 200M ions/cc with no airflow from the air handler fan.
- Confirm that the DM-2 unit is securely attached to the mounting ring or saddle and operational as per the installation manual.
